Watching on BBC 1. Wish Huw would shut up and let us listen to the bands/watch them March.

@viques Yes - quite agree

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 16:28

Yes was thinking it was a little unfair that they showed us not a jot of the representatives of his birth family!

BBC news just pointed out that “Long live our noble queen” was a rather pointed/poignant (not sure which) lyric!

Incredibly moving, poignant and so powerful a service. It reduced me to tears, the Queen looked so bereft and tiny. My parents have both died recently, 3 months and one day apart, and I really feel for the family. I do wonder whether Harry will have some pangs regarding having given up the chance to support the Queen, his father and William? I wonder if he’ll be on a plane home tonight.

the wessex’s seem like such a lovely family. i was in tears watching sophie with her arms around her children. my son is the same age as her son and i can’t even imagine him having to mourn his grandad in front of the world. it was a really beautiful ceremony, just a shame it had to take place under these circumstances.

Whatnameisgood · 17/04/2021 16:30

Who was with the queen in her car?

ApplyWithin · 17/04/2021 16:31

Strange we didn’t even get a glimpse of the German relatives.

ApplyWithin · 17/04/2021 16:32

Did anyone see Sarah Chatto?

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:32

@ApplyWithin

Did they just say on the BBC that the walking back wasn't planned? If so that's lovely. It's a nice day so lets all just walk back

I’m imagining the conversation between the drivers of the abandoned cars. Grin

I wonder as well if anyone regretted their shoes. I’d have possibly picked different heels going from car to car than going up the hill
Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/04/2021 16:33

Beautifully done - and glad the BBC handled it appropriately on the whole

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/04/2021 16:33

I was pondering the shoes too! And those who had just had babies?

MagicSummer · 17/04/2021 16:33

Beautiful service and so brilliantly done! I was crying through much of it. I think any public funeral such as this reminds you of funerals you have attended and brings it all back.

I do wish we could have had the German relatives identified, and also would like to have seen Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent, Duke of Gloucester, Lady Sarah Chatto and Penny Mountbatten.

On the way back? I noticed that. A man in a hat by the looks, so not the lady in waiting as she had on the way there.
UsedToBeSeventeen · 17/04/2021 16:33

I agree! Even just to explain the connections.

Harryo · 17/04/2021 16:33

I was ok until the Queen got out of the car. She looked a bit lost for a second or two and suddenly seemed old and frail. I was a blubbering wreck then.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 17/04/2021 16:34

Queen had her lady in waiting in the car, and I saw Sarah chatto

EdithWeston · 17/04/2021 16:34

I think they were behind Cdr Lawrence and Lord Snowden
JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:34

We didn’t see many of the extended family guests really - his nephews, Sarah and Daniel Chatto, Princess Alexandra or Countess Mountbatten. We didn’t see Peter or Earl Snowdon inside the service either

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:35

@toffeebutterpopcorn

I was pondering the shoes too! And those who had just had babies?
I wonder if anyone was hoping someone else would say “I’ll just hop in the car” first
Standrewsschool · 17/04/2021 16:35

Lovely service. The music was beautiful.

I did feel for the Queen sitting by herself. I thought she looked a bit doddery at the beginning and was willing the vicar/Dean to lend her his arm to lean on as she left.

Loved the trumpeters sound-off towards the end!

Loved also William and Harry chatting amicably. Also, Wondered whether the press will seize on the absence of Meghan for this turnaround, or was ‘the rift’ always more magnified in the press.

Beautiful blue sky also.

SpringtimeSummertime · 17/04/2021 16:36

Who was the older man Peter Phillips walked back with?

RoseRedRoseBlue · 17/04/2021 16:36

@YanTanTethera123 I had the same thought as you, and would not be surprised if Harry is already on the way to the airport.

LIZS · 17/04/2021 16:36

@Whatnameisgood

Who was with the queen in her car?
Her Lady in Waiting. Wondered if she was tucked away behind her somewhere in the Chapel.
SpringtimeSummertime · 17/04/2021 16:36

God yes! The stiletto heels!! 😳

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:37

@SpringtimeSummertime

Who was the older man Peter Phillips walked back with?
Earl of Snowdon. Princess Margaret’s son

Probably, and that the chat was little more than a quick "hi , how are you doing? lovely service". They were hardly going to be frosty in public. But tabloids will read it as they choose.
