Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

But parking lot isn’t a British phrase and you do seem to not understand certain things.

Seems like your mind is closed to a lot of things, and you also don't seem to understand a lot of things or how society moves on.

LittleBearPad · 27/03/2021 17:47

Yes that’s it Mummy. HmmConfused

ImAncient · 27/03/2021 17:48

I am not MM, so please don't try that with me. Been here long enough to know the strategy that if you like MM, you are 'foreign'. Well done strategy. I am British born and bred with a long family tree. Not all British are xenophobic.

Parking lot was actually used a lot regarding that story, I assume because it was not a parking space. Used by British writers too.[/quote]
Where has anyone said you are Meghan? I saw a pp suggesting you may be American. Not that you are Meghan.

Marmaladeagain · 27/03/2021 17:52

yes I think it is the inconsistencies in the lived experience of being here in the UK and how the news unravelled at the time, as opposed to someone seeming to endlessly revert to internet articles and spouting a party line on it, rather than actual events that can be recalled.

Marmaladeagain · 27/03/2021 17:58

Perhaps I should ask "excuse me where's the parking lot" - will be quite funny, can't imagine anyone wouldn't think I was taking the piss. No we say car park. Careful you don't trip on the sidewalk etc - No, we don't use those words here.

Different country, different customs, different history, different reactions to H&M's baloney.

Nanasueathome · 27/03/2021 18:08

I just had to sneak a look at the thread title again

Seems to have gone a bit off track

MinnieMous3 · 27/03/2021 18:22

As I said before, it would’ve been so easy for Meghan to get the tabloids off her back.

Book the most boring engagements imaginable, turn up in clothes from Warehouse or Reiss, say the minimum, then push off home and keep your opinions to yourself.

For all her wokeness, she didn’t seem able to really tolerate spending time with the working class people she purports to want to help.

MrsTreglowan · 27/03/2021 18:28

Yes the thread title has been hijacked

Marmaladeagain · 27/03/2021 18:34

It's been hijacked by people that don't want to fawn over Harry - no, sorry - the thread would have stopped at one page then.

There aren't lots of people that want to fawn over Harry is the simple reason.

MinnieMous3 · 27/03/2021 18:48

It’s difficult to discuss one aspect of their life without it leading to others as it’s all one big mess really.

SoWhyNot · 27/03/2021 18:50

@MinnieMous3

That’s exactly it. When you go to the tip, it’s just all one great big load of rubbish. Same with what Harry and Meghan say and do.
ImpatiensI · 27/03/2021 18:51

I am not MM, so please don't try that with me

Well that's a dead giveaway innit?!

Roussette · 27/03/2021 18:55

They just say and do a big load of rubbish? ... I doubt the Nottingham charity she donated £10,000 to, think that.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-56536993

'A charity has said the Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey prompted it to speak out about a £10,000 donation she made.

Meghan gifted the money to Himmah, which works to tackle racism and poverty in Nottingham, in August but the charity kept it a secret.'

I posted it on the other H&M thread.

No comment of course. Doesn't fit the hate agenda.

ImpatiensI · 27/03/2021 19:01

What comment are you expecting?

It’s not a hate agenda. How odd you think that way. It’s based on facts of their many many negative actions and lies. At a rubbish tip, sometimes things that work are dumped there but ultimately overall it’s rubbish. That’s my apology. If you can come up with a couple of dozen really great positives Harry and Meghan have done in the last couple of years then great, but they will be countered balanced by the staggeringly higher number of negatives. They don’t even tell the truth.
SoWhyNot · 27/03/2021 19:04

*analogy not apology. Predictive text!

Roussette · 27/03/2021 19:06

Wouldn't it be nice if once, just once, someone who really dislikes them said... yeah, that's a nice thing to do.

Sometimes there are posts on here which I agree with that talk about something stupid they'e done or which is daft, puzzling, irritating, whatever..
I agree with quite a lot of what the middle of the road posters say. And I tell them so.

Never seen it in return. Not ever. The dislike of them supersedes anything which is actually good, OK, or just not bad.

ImpatiensI · 27/03/2021 19:07

From the local paper article on the donation:
'The donation was comprised of revenue raised for The Royal Foundation from the sale of Together: Our Community Cookbook'

DioneTheDiabolist · 27/03/2021 19:08

Those little children, what a burden all of this is. I'm sure W&K are doing their utmost trying to make it as normal a childhood as it can be, given the circs.. but with every new generation it just gets worse and worse.

I've always said that if we abolish the monarchy, it will be on humanitarian grounds.Grin

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/03/2021 19:08

Marmaladeagain

I can’t read that article - think there is a pay wall.

ImpatiensI · 27/03/2021 19:13

A charity based in Hyson Green was the lucky receiver of a generous donation from the Duchess of Sussex. Himmah has been recently awarded no less than £10,000 from the Royal foundation to help tackling poverty, racism and social exclusion

It's fantastic help for this brilliant charity and great use of the foundation money but it hasn't come out of M's own pocket as @Roussette was trying to suggest.

Not that I blame M - I mean, she could get TWO new dresses for that amount of money! Shock

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/03/2021 19:16

According to another article in The Telegraph Prince Harry’s BetterUp Coaching App charges an eye-watering Monthly Subscription Fee of £364 ($499) ..

Roussette · 27/03/2021 19:18

I was not trying to suggest anything, thanks.

I linked an article. Glad you agree that it's great for the Charity though.

Rousette I have never once ever seen you say anything at all critical of either of them . So if you have your doubts, you certainly hide them extremely well. Your whole view seems to be to be fawningly , cloyingly adoring. They can literally do no wrong in your eyes. If you showed some ability to be objective the threads would flow better. I do think some things they have done are great. The cook book, the clothes for interviews and Harry’s work with ex soldiers. As someone else said though, the huge slew of mistakes just blots these things out.

Also there is now the sense that even whilst supporting those causes, the two of them were planning how to get away and make money for themselves. There is a fundamental self interest that overrides all else with them.

Mummy195 · 27/03/2021 19:21

@Roussette

Ever the optimist. You have been on MN for long enough, I admire you.

But since there is such a pile on reserved for H&M, let me just leave this dragging I've been seeing today on here, regarding W's PR stunts in the last few weeks.
