Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

@ImpatiensI

Ricki, Duke of Tarr

Sounds like a dodgy character..Grin

I should adopt it as my shadowy alter ego. Grin
daisyjgrey · 25/03/2021 14:27

I cannot bring myself to care about this. I'd rather he got that job than Hancock passing however much money to his school mates for fictitious PPE 🤷🏻‍♀️

In no universe is that an either/or choice.

Cronyism is just as bad as the royals monetising their titles and fame (including Peter Philips, Fergie, Sophie Wessex, the whole damn lot of them).

I’d rather abolish the monarchy and have done with it, AND crack down on the old boys network trading favours. Not holding my breath.

@RickiTarr maybe a cloak and a monocle? Grin

It's all part of the same grubby world isn't it? Wealthy elite making more wealth for themselves and their own kind.

Some of the comments on his post on the Betterup Insta are brutal

Lady version of this maybe.

Just had a look

It’s certainly made their numbers jump - comments and likes

Although most are positive (esp first post) some are pretty tough for second

Way cool Ricki

Save us all from the hypocrites

Amen!

RickiTarr · 25/03/2021 15:20

I’ve noticed hypocrites never have much of a sense of humour or irony.

So very true, across all subjects.

DioneTheDiabolist · 25/03/2021 15:26

Yous are losing your minds.🤣🤣🤣

Roussette · 25/03/2021 15:31

There wasn't negative media 'the minute they met', there was a lot of really gushing stuff about what a glamourous couple and how smitten they looked etc

Yes there was. Not as much as now, I know that. But yes there was. On here and in the press.

When the press became more hostile towards M they spoke out in her defence

Right. I may have to eat my words here. But where and when? I know Harry put out a statement but I did not see one from BP or the RF.
Apologies if I got that wrong.

One comment that stood out was saying that BetterUp claim to give subscribers access to therapists but then their T&Cs say that their service is coaching and should not be considered therapy.
I've not searched it myself, but if that's true then the company is full of glib 'think positive' word salads and low on professional psychological and therapeutic services. It would also make sense as to why they want a celebrity figurehead who can come out with some empty, superficial insagrammable quotations.

Congrats to Harry! His team need someone who have experiences in military and international public service. We have a local veteran affair hospital (my dad was in the military and went to this hospital) nearby and mental health from these people was so sad to watch. Most of them have PTSD with drinking and drug issues and homeless. One of the guy who served war in Middle East killed himself. he was special education teacher and grew a garden for the school. It was terribly heartbreaking. These veterans can relate other veterans. Harry can help a lot of veterans or people who seen war around the world.

In America, jobs will consider experiences over education.

I hope people do NOT make a big deal about his royal title although I see they are already doing it. It is both both his experiences and family name. Just as a parent can raise their child to become a doctor, pay for his education and is well known in society doesn’t mean that parent tell that child to remove his doctors title.

Marmaladeagain · 25/03/2021 15:49

Yes lots of these companies will be very tax efficient vehicles etc - that's the most bizarre thing - why anyone would fall for their blatant hogwash that it's about anything than making huge amounts of money with as little effort as possible.

Call it what it is - fans seem to believe the "caring" baloney.

It's about money making pure and simple - charities in the UK would be a lot more difficult for them to live the life they'd like to. The US system does provide the vehicles for that type of money making. I have zero respect for anyone selling themselves so openly but pretending it is for the greater good. However, it is getting more and more funny, so I guess there's the laughs to be had in the blundering unintended humour they deliver.

ImpatiensI · 25/03/2021 15:57

Why did Marmalade's perfectly sensible post get deleted? Confused

It would also make sense as to why they want a celebrity figurehead who can come out with some empty, superficial instagrammable quotations

H is your man for that!

From the minute they met? No. Unless you've got examples? You claimed it was 'horrendous' - I know H&M defenders on here love to exaggerate but that's clearly ridiculous.

There were a number of official statements from the RF correcting things rumours in the media and I specifically remember it being on the news that they were defending M from racism in the press. I'm not clear about the different types of communication they put out so I don't know who did what.

Roussette · 25/03/2021 16:17

I didn't say it started out as horrendous. Please don't twist what I say. And as for exaggerating... 'detractors' have the gold medal standard for that!

This is what I said
It was slow and insidious at first, drip drip, but building up into a complete hate campaign by our tabloids, dozens and dozens of press articles a day on her, or her and him. Who can cope with that

Roussette · 25/03/2021 16:20

I remember Harry putting out a statement defending Meghan

Here it is.

I don't remember a RF or BP one but happy to stand corrected if it's out there

ImpatiensI · 25/03/2021 16:22

Wow, how deceitful can you get!

You deliberately missed off the part of that quote that I was answering:
He wants to protect his wife and child against horrendously negative media that started the minute he met MM. The RF didn't

So you did say horrendous, I have clearly not twisted what you said. No wonder you're defending these two, you're just alike.

Roussette · 25/03/2021 16:27

I did qualify that though, didn't I? With the drip drip comment. It was bad, and deny it all you want but his statement proves that.

Thanks for the backhanded compliment though, I'm touched!

ImpatiensI · 25/03/2021 16:28

You blatantly lied @Roussette. Not big, not clever.

Roussette · 25/03/2021 16:30

Oh don't be ridiculous. Really, honestly... if I picked up all the lies, the exaggeration, the twisting, the obfuscation that a lof of you indulge in... I'd spend my life making personal attacks, just like you are doing now.

Ocsetldil · 25/03/2021 16:37

Why are you on every single Harry thread Rousette?

SoWhyNot · 25/03/2021 16:39

@ImpatiensI

You blatantly lied *@Roussette*. Not big, not clever.
Maybe it’s her truth which means it’s all ok... 🤷🏻‍♀️
