Thomas Markle......Meghan's father.

Don't know if anyone saw the interview with Thomas Markle on GMTV Tues morning. It depicted a frail, emotional man who desperately wants to reconnect with his daughter and see his grandson too. Yes his life is complicated and he alluded to this time and time again .

He repeatedly acknowledged he's done wrong, in the many media interviews he's given and what struck me was a man who is living a lonely life and may not have many years to live and reconcile the differences he and Meghan have.

My cousin taught Meghan in her high school in L.A. and speaking to her last night she recalls Thomas Markle as "a funny, generous, witty man constantly helping out with school plays and musicals. He was generous with his time and the teachers and students loved him, especially Meghan"

I can't see any hope of a reconciliation the way things currently stand.

So many aspects of the Harry / Meghan goings on make me angry but the idea that she should have to resume contact with a relative that she has no desire to do so is just cruel. If you’d have met my mother you’d have thought her a great mother, funny and personable but she wasn’t to me, at all. I cut her out of my life for years and I was the better for it. To have someone wheel her out and her to tell the world how sorry she was and for me to have to just accept that on face value - no way.

Families are so complicated and Meghan has every right not to have anything to do with him and that’s nobody’s decision except her own.

I think I'll save my sympathy for her, thanks all the same. He's reaping exactly what he sowed.

I was quite enjoying the first semi normal day of not every bloody thread being about them.

I know I'm adding to yet another thread on this but .... how is this so much different to what H&M are doing now?

I would have thought having been hurt by her dad airing his dirty laundry in public and the devastating impact that this has had on her relationship with him that she may have thought twice and not gone ahead and done exactly the same thing (the only difference being they washed their dirty laundry on the biggest stage going).

Oh and just for good measure it's getting another airing in US on Friday (as if once wasn't enough!) there's another 1hr and 20 minutes on the cutting room floor which is going nowhere near the bin and her friend made sure to feed another 'titbit' to the U.K. audience today on 'This Morning'.

It's nothing short of a car crash for all concerned.

Love this. I’m on Thomas’s side. I haven’t heard anything about him which I find half as offensive as I find Megan. Yes, maybe he has lied and sought publicity, but .....

It really isn't 'totally different'.

Thomas Markle sold out on his daughter for money.
Samantha Markle sold out on her sister for money
M&H sold out on Harry's family to make money (and to further their careers).
Oprah, ever the business woman, spotted an opportunity to make money from them.

All bar (OW) used the platform of media to wash their laundry in public with the inevitable consequences.

There is not much of a difference that I can see, the actions of all above are pretty shitty

The only person to really gain from this is Oprah as she has no family skin in the game.
