Don't know if anyone saw the interview with Thomas Markle on GMTV Tues morning. It depicted a frail, emotional man who desperately wants to reconnect with his daughter and see his grandson too. Yes his life is complicated and he alluded to this time and time again .

He repeatedly acknowledged he's done wrong, in the many media interviews he's given and what struck me was a man who is living a lonely life and may not have many years to live and reconcile the differences he and Meghan have.

My cousin taught Meghan in her high school in L.A. and speaking to her last night she recalls Thomas Markle as "a funny, generous, witty man constantly helping out with school plays and musicals. He was generous with his time and the teachers and students loved him, especially Meghan"

I can't see any hope of a reconciliation the way things currently stand.

I see the book as another brilliant marketing gimmick to get press attention. It is working though, which other children's book writer get front page in the BBC.
Maybe she is trying to get some inspiration to rekindle her ties with her father? Or help her husband heal the relationship with his father? All very bizarre. Looks part of the marketing toolkit

My father might want to desperately see me and his gc but the way he has conducted himself throughout my life, there’s not a cat in hells chance of that happening. He’s old and probably frail now too. I don’t give a shiny shit.

@Tolkienista you have no idea of what’s gone on in the family. It might be her fault it might be his. It might be the whole damn lot of them, I don’t know but it’s wrong to say that just because he’s said sorry that all should be forgiven. Actions speak louder than words.

As I was about to answer someone regarding Thomas Markle on another thread, it was already full.

I don't want to start a new thread about him as it's been done to death.

But I was wondering why people are going back being so convinced that Thomas did not meet Harry beforehand when that was not the narrative back in 2018.

A reminder that Thomas has told us in his own words, that he has lied at these interviews.

In this case, I am not talking about the 'misfortune of a 'lapse of memory', I mean plain out deliberately lying.

Harry and Meghan themselves have not addressed the issue of wether Thomas met Harry or not. But I find it hard to be convinced on wether they actually met or not.

Here is Samatha telling a totally different story from today. I am just putting it down now, as I will forget. Her brother as also said the same thing.

I’m a bit confused by this “did he or didn’t he meet Harry” business. The quotes you link to above are all from Meghan’s brother, Thomas jnr, who is also apparently estranged from a Meghan. He also goes on in the same quote to claim that Meghan and her father have a loving relationship. I can’t find anyone else who says they had met and I’m not sure Thomas jnr is reliable 🤷‍♀️

I presume they got the information from Thomas. She sounds a bit detailed about the meeting.

That vid is interesting. So they did meet.

@smilesy - In the video SM says they met and the public were not aware of this. Before the engagement so as far back as 2017.

Hahaha, yes he did just last month. Not genuine at all. He read his apology letter on Big Brother Australia. He was obviously milking it to win the Big Brother - that was probably his promise to even get in the house, I will talk about Meghan, otherwise what is his relevance.

Meghan said in her and Harry’s engagement interview that Harry had not met her father. So that’s what people have based their views on. Perfectly possible this is something else she “forgot” though.

Decent parents don't do what he's done, they don't go on TV talking about their children's lives and depicting them negatively to make a bit of extra cash.

Meghan had a shit time of it from the start, and to be fair, she couldn't have done anything right really. Those of us who have faced the reality of subtle UK racism know this.
