The royal family

Do you think Oprah didn't ask the right questions.

Lots of subjects were spoken about but I felt that Oprah could have asked for further information.

What questions do you think she should of asked.

My question is to Harry 'why didn't you get Meghan help with her MH if you are a loving husband'

OP posts:
SmidgenofaPigeon · 09/03/2021 22:11

As her interviews normally go it was pretty lame.

ChocolateSantaisthebestkind · 09/03/2021 22:17

I think she asked the questions she was asked to. The no script or subject of limits was the biggest crock of shit ever.

goldielockdown2 · 09/03/2021 22:18

She did. And he said 'that just wasn't a conversation that would be had' or something. And Oprah was like Hmm

TildaKauskumholm · 09/03/2021 22:21

I should imagine she asked the pre written question she had been given, and nothing else, in order to obtain this hugely profitable interview.

PrincessTuna · 09/03/2021 22:24

I love Oprah she did a great job. There were a couple of times M and H were talking and she talked over them with another point. I would have liked to see where they were going in the silences, but I think we got some candid answers and I wasn't expecting that!

HollowTalk · 09/03/2021 22:25

I agree with you, OP. "Why didn't your husband teach you the protocol? And why didn't he insist a doctor saw you about your mental health?"

CrumbsThatsQuick · 09/03/2021 22:28

Who exactly is 'they'?

Did anyone physically prevent Megan and or Harry telephoning a mental health professional? Who?

Can I clarify? Did the comment about Archie's skin come before or after your wedding?

What title did you expect Archie might get? Why?

Basically any question which added detail to the vagueness.

NiceGerbil · 09/03/2021 22:30

Oprah is surely extremely good at her job.. She's been doing it for years and it's well known she's skilled at getting people to open up.

So no I don't think she asked the wrong questions!

There would have been limits on what she could ask.

And if she asked M or H why H didn't help they wouldn't have exactly sat there cheerfully and answered!

Saltisford · 09/03/2021 22:33

Would’ve been great if she’d asked whether Harry’s ever been given a dna test to ensure he’s Charles’s son!!! Not that it’s relevant - just juicy!

Nanalisa60 · 09/03/2021 22:34

HollowTalk

Totally agree!!

Also if the palace took your passport away from you how did you get on a flight New York for your baby shower!!

I

Stoppissingonmyheather · 09/03/2021 22:39

Mm I thought that after... And I am Al for Harry n meghan but if he has supposedly had years of therapy like he said he had in another interview what was the actual issue with getting the same for her presumably being pregnant she would have a doctor and midwife why could she not get help from them or did he not actually have therapy at all it's all unexplained also if Anne's and Edwards kids didn't get titles they are also presumably not protected and pay for their own do they? If so that's not a major issue surely is it or is it? She could have probed far more she didn't ask about staff who left or anything about family rifts makes me think there were subjects that were off limits or Maybe the revelations were such that nothing else seemed significant.

WomenAreBornNotWorn · 09/03/2021 23:27

I would have liked them to talk about the tiara, who did they think leaked the negative story to the press? What was their take on the situation? It must have come from the Queens camp. As no other household would have been involved?

Lindy2 · 09/03/2021 23:31

I think she asked the questions Meghan told her to ask.

ekidmxcl · 09/03/2021 23:33

I think she worked within the boundaries which would have been clear and tight.

Stroller15 · 09/03/2021 23:34

She's a talk show host not an investigative journalist. She didn't ask any probing questions - it was all a bit one-sided.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 09/03/2021 23:35

I’d have loved Louis Theroux to do it. His subtle lines of enquiry have been absolute dynamite when he’s worked with a lot of Americans on his various TV series.

Blueberries0112 · 09/03/2021 23:35

It was actually a 3 hours long but it was edited. She probably did asked

finished31 · 09/03/2021 23:36

Would’ve been great if she’d asked whether Harry’s ever been given a dna test to ensure he’s Charles’s son!

Makes you wonder if Charles knows the answer already and has let Harry walk away. because Charlie is a twat

Exactly! There was no probing, no clarifying and no hard questioning. It was not a good interview, it was a PR exercise for Harry and Meghan who have trashed the Royal Family and the British people as racists
Engoltheharpy · 09/03/2021 23:41

She should've asked them why they think it's up to the palace to get them help.
What do normal people who feel depressed and want help do, it's not rocket science.

tenlittlecygnets · 09/03/2021 23:44

@HollowTalk

I agree with you, OP. "Why didn't your husband teach you the protocol? And why didn't he insist a doctor saw you about your mental health?"
This. Meghan was a professional actor. Why the fuck not find what MH help she needed?? Why did she need the palace to help?

Then, after having no clue about the royal family, she suddenly knows everyone about titles for Archie... Hmmm...

GoLightlyontheEarth · 09/03/2021 23:56

Did you bully your staff? Why did so many leave so quickly?
Why did you sack your first nanny during the night ?
Why did you write a letter for your father with the help of palace staff and then circulate it to your friends ?
Why didn’t you research your future in laws and husband?
Why didn’t you consider the restrictions and expectations of your new role?
Why do you feel the need to spend so much on designer outfits?
Did you like your husbands family?
What efforts did you make to fit in and get on with husbands family?
What stopped you finding yourself a psychotherapist? Was your phone confiscated?
How exactly do you reconcile your feminist views and need for a ‘voice’ with having made salacious burger ads and having a breast enhancement?
Why did you deny having input into Finding Freedom?
Did you get on with William?
Was there anything at all that your in laws did right for you do you think, apart from the Queen?
Why did you invite so many celebrities you hardly knew to your wedding but left out all your family apart from your mother?
Why didn’t you introduce your father to Harry before you got married?
Where was your mother when you were growing up?
Why did you want to give up your career to marry into the royal family when you had the option to keep on with it, since you are such a feminist?
Are you at all grateful for having enormous wealth and a gorgeous home now?
When will you let go of your many grievances?
How do you reconcile your treatment of your father with your creed about kindness and compassion?
Why do you feel you have the right to lecture people about how they should live?
Do you consider yourself a kind and compassionate person with empathy and tolerance?

whatisheupto · 09/03/2021 23:57

Oh good I felt this too! It was all so vague and nothing was expanded upon enough. I feel like actually far from "major revelations", I'm not sure exactly what new information we have learnt from it at all.
But I am a pedant.

OppsUpsSide · 10/03/2021 00:02

Ooh now if @GoLightlyontheEarth had been interviewing I might have watched it

Fuhfeuucdr · 10/03/2021 00:10

Did you speak to your mother (who was a social worker) or your midwife to seek help for your mental health? Disclaimer- I hope in reality she did.

How did you access your passport to attend holidays on private jets and a baby shower in NY?

Why do you think Prince Edward’s children were not made Prince/Princess, even though Edward is the Queen’s son?
