Do you think Oprah didn't ask the right questions.

Lots of subjects were spoken about but I felt that Oprah could have asked for further information.

What questions do you think she should of asked.

My question is to Harry 'why didn't you get Meghan help with her MH if you are a loving husband'

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

Can't imagine Oprah is that bothered by the comments being negative. People asking about fact checking is the issue. It makes her set up look bad. Let alone the fake British headlines.

It is interesting after the initial favourable media support in America. Things are definitely starting to get reported more tongue in cheek there now. In time the truth will break through there too.

Oprah had to have known what would be said and that it wasn’t true. Otherwise she wouldn’t have authorised the headlines from other countries’ media and wouldn’t have known they would be needed. They sourced the other headlines because they couldn’t find what they needed from the British press, despite sometimes taking a sentence out of an article and context to pretend it was a headline.

Some of the articles in America are just as negative as in the British or Australian media. How can Harry and Meghan ever have expected their lies wouldn’t be broken down, proven and announced to the world?

I see Uncle Gary is sticking up for Kate in today’s MoS.

SoWhyNot · 28/03/2021 15:08

To answer the thread title, I think Oprah asked exactly the questions she was allowed/told to and wouldn’t have been granted the interview otherwise. Oprah might have an Oscar but even her acting wasn’t good enough to pretend she was surprised or convinced. She just wants the ratings and publicity.

ImpatiensI · 28/03/2021 15:45

I would have thought Oprah had more clout not to be dictated to by the likes of H&M @SoWhyNot? I assumed she deliberately wanted it to be a 'soft' interview to cash in on the sympathy for M in the US with the slant of it being about racism and culture-clash, blame squarely on the RF.

MrsTabithaTwitchit · 28/03/2021 15:49

Oprah is only really interested in the advertising revenue which comes from the ratings . It’s important to remember she is a chat show host not a journalist

Possibly but I can’t see they would have agreed to a proper interview (and what we saw wasn’t an interview, it was just a platform for H&M to air their aggrievances in public). They had to have known they wouldn’t be questioned on “their truth” because otherwise they would have looked total idiots if Oprah had countered most of their claims. Therefore, they knew they would be free to say it and get away with it - during the interview at least.
ImpatiensI · 28/03/2021 16:20

Yes, that's all true. I wonder, despite the massive ratings, if she regrets it a bit now. I think they've made her look stupid.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/03/2021 16:28

I've no doubt she has, but if there'd been any question of H&M's narrative being challenged she probably wouldn't have got the interview and the $7 million

So perhaps she thought that more important than any pretence of journalistic integrity (especially as she's not a journalist)

www.newidea.com.au/oprah-meghan-markle-oat-milk-fail

This is an old article and just a little gossip but a thought. Definitely would partly explain their need for the interview and why she would go along with anything they say.

Also I was reading else where that these mental health episodes Oprah and Haz have filmed are to be aired on CBS. So the idea they were not in any way paid by the network is iffy. Ultimately they are just getting money via a different route but from the same network.

Diptyque · 28/03/2021 23:08

Sod the oat milk, who was arrested?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 29/03/2021 00:45
Grin
Diptyque · 29/03/2021 10:01

Peter Phillips.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 29/03/2021 10:06

No the magazine article for the arrest was dated January. So not Peter. Try again Grin

The Archbishop of Canterbury has now confirmed that H and M were not married 3 days before the “ spectacle “. Better late than never .....
I wish OW had asked what happened at POW 70th birthday Garden Party to cause H and M to leave so early.

Yes that was really odd.
shockthemonkey · 31/03/2021 14:20

She should've asked Harry "Why did you feel the need to share hurtful speculation about your future child's skin colour with your wife, instead of calling it out as racist there and then?"

I would have asked Megan whether she questioned what Harry's motives might have been in sharing this skin-colour conversation with her second hand, when a loving husband might have preferred to spare her feelings. Did she not wonder whether he might be trying to drive a wedge between her and his birth family?

Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 14:23

So he must sweep racism under the carpet ?

shockthemonkey · 31/03/2021 14:26

Not at all. If you read what I said, he should have called it out then and there. Please see line two of my post.

Mummy195 · 31/03/2021 14:33

Have you ever had racism against you? Do you know if you would react immediately and how, especially if it was unexpected?

I know a lot of people who told me they were speechless and their jaw hit the floor and they had no idea how to act in such cases.

Lauren15 · 31/03/2021 16:18

I’ve been the target of racism when I lived in the Middle East and no, I did nothing. However when I’ve seen my dh and dcs the target of racism in this country, I have reacted like a tigress. (This is how a friend of mine described me!) If a family member had said anything racist to my face, I would never have stayed silent. Of course Oprah just sat and let the pair say their ‘truth’ while any normal person would have turned to H and said ‘what did you say when they said that to you’.

Mummy195 · 03/04/2021 12:10

Good on you, but not everyone would jump like a tigress.

That particular conversation seems to have been the first and probably took H by surprise.

I have had ppl say something offensive to me, which I did not expect and was lost for words, but later I may have thought, wft? If you did not anticipate it, you may respond in any way.

Avavlon · 17/04/2021 12:15

IT wasnt an interview it was a pr stunt, oprah probely had to agree not to probe it ask certain question
It looked like oprah hadn't done her research on royal protcal titles etc a investigative journalist partcelly a british one would have been abal to challenge certain accusations

The interview was tailored for the American market and ovbsely for the network it was a success oprah dud what she was asked and required to do,I agree other journalists would have done a better job but I dought they would have got the interview in the first place.
Oprah was chosen because she was a freind off the coupal and would agree to their demand, shame though I personally had respect for Garry before megext

Avavlon · 17/04/2021 12:16

Sorry not good with keyboard mean harry lol

Housewife2010 · 17/04/2021 12:19

Oprah wasn't a particularly good interviewer. She left out a lot of questions and just did her shocked face at Meghan's claims without delving deeper. Compare the interview to Emily Maitlis' excellent interview with Andrew.
