The royal family

What were Harry and Meghan hoping to achieve?

This is an honest question not a chance to bash anyone. I'm curious about why Harry and Meghan would do this and what the consequences could be. They must have realised the massive fall-out this would cause. This could be the end of Harry's relationship with his family. But for what? Sympathy? Increased profiles? Honesty?

Who says this is claim is true???

The Queen.😂😂😂 Although she did add that recollections vary.

@workshy44

I suspect getting back in but on their terms. So being able to attend all the high profile glammer events without having to tour a sausage factory in Blackpool etc Their trump card is holding back who questioned the skin color of the baby. That's why harry made such a point of hoping to rebuild relations, so it doesn't look odd when he attends Philip's 100rd They know without solid royal connections they will lose their appeal in a few years. They have to maintain links to maintain relevance They never wanted fully out, just out of the boring crap and the scrutiny the accountability I don't blame them, they have played a blinder with this. The RF won't be able to say or do a word against them now with the threat of leaking who the offending person was.
They wanted their cake and eat it too.

They wanted the privilege and wealth, with nine if the responsibility and work.

Entitled.

The RF wouldn't comment even if they said who it was I think. They would have made a similar statement.

Gadzookery · 10/03/2021 20:11

@Impatiens

Since H&M's account of the story didn't even match it's hardly a trump card.
and a wiser husband may have thought twice before sharing it with a fragile wife....discretion is often the better part of valour.
NoMackerelInSwindon · 10/03/2021 20:12

@Mummy195

Their trump card is holding back who questioned the skin color of the baby.

Which gives the person the opportunity to come out themselves and explain themselves if they have to or apologise if they learnt anything. rather than their name being plastered out. they should be thankful for the opportunity. Many ppl would not be so thankful in that situation.

If its true as @00100001 says.

I noted in particular Meghan's body language and her retreat into the defensive word "...potentially..." when she delivered her now famous line.

Yes it is all about context. Potentially it was about race or it could have been about skin tone. "....Potentially...." is how Meghan played the race card.

Impatiens · 10/03/2021 20:15

Absolutely Gadzookery although if it was before they were even married perhaps she didn't seem as so fragile then? Also we never got any detail on what exactly was said - whether it was crass/clumsy or outright racist.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2021 20:17

Totally agree with you there.

Indeed. Context is all. My grandfather used to say, before you open your mouth to say something of potential import, ask yourself:

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

If you can't say 'yes' to all 3, do not impart the information.

Mummy195 · 10/03/2021 20:20

Please, never say 'race card' again. Not only is this offensive, but it's not a thing.

00100001 · 10/03/2021 20:22

@DioneTheDiabolist

The Queen.😂😂😂 Although she did add that recollections vary.

She isn't saying that it's true.

She's saying that "recollections vary"

Which means that H&M remember one thing and the others remember something else.

Doesn't mean it was definitely said.

It's like me saying "I definitely remember there was a Jaffa Cake left in the tin at 6pm. It's now 10pm and it's gone. DH or DS ate it."

And then DH/DS saying "there wasn't a Jaffa Cake left in the tin"

A couple who share everything............

Maybe his mood really changed after hearing this about his baby?

00100001 · 10/03/2021 20:24

@DioneTheDiabolist

And even MM and PH can't even agree when this comment was made

So.... 🤷‍♀️

SidneyPlace · 10/03/2021 20:24

Answers were quite cunning.

The hereditary 'prince' title and the 'skin colour' comment, M answered as one, making it seem like the two were linked 'Archie couldn't have a title because of his skin colour' was implied/portrayed in M answer yet these two things are not linked at all and weren't spoken about by the RF at the same time either.

Clever commenting in making it seem that they are linked.

Impatiens · 10/03/2021 20:24

At that point it would have been about a hypothetical baby.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/03/2021 20:36

We never got any detail on what exactly was said - whether it was crass/clumsy or outright racist

This is why I noted that H&M would do well on here, where it's common to fling accusations of racism without actually saying what was racist or even who said it

Happily, HQ are pretty fast at deleting the genuinely offensive stuff - and a good thing too - but so much of the rest is insinuation, just like H&M

Lockdownbear · 10/03/2021 20:38

@SmellsLikeBacon

Neither is learning these 30 hymns she mentioned as part of that 'nobody helped me' scene she played out Which hymns are 30 hymns and what is the significance?
Surely it shouldn't be that hard for an actress to learn some hymns. Although I can't think why she'd need to learn 30 of them.
@Mmn654123 Kate's pushy mother orchestrated the whole William thing didn't she?! In Harry and Megan's engagement interview he said he had warned her what she was getting into and she shall said yes! So I don't agree that he hadn't prepared her for royal life.
William and Kate were together for years. She had a very gradual entry into royal life.

Saying ‘are you sure’ isn’t quite the same - particularly to someone who likely didn’t have a clue what she was really signing up for!

@PresentingPercy

It is also quite interesting to consider that she had mental health issues in the UK but not when she miscarried. For many people, grief is when you would rather be dead than the person who has died. She failed to mention her grief at losing a baby and how that affected her. Grief really hits you if it is a baby or younger person. I know she could have got help in the USA, but I truly beleive help was possible for her here too.

She courts publicity. It is needed to make money. Live quietly here and she would have got what she wanted. She would just need to do the odd appearance at events.

What will they now do about the statue of Diana unveiling in June? Could be frosty! Obviously no Meghan.

Horrible post.

She spoke previously about her miscarriage. This interview was not about all of the bad things she's been through, but about certain things that happened with the institution that have led them to this point in their lives.

Sometimes peoples mental health is at its worst when they are not going through anything particularly bad in their lives, sometimes they gain strength during the most difficult times! She still had Archie to look after! She doesn't need to compare her suicidal thoughts to how she felt at a time when she miscarried.

CathyorClaire · 10/03/2021 20:47

I think it was part pent-up petulance and part raising profile to remind all the after dinner talk agencies they still exist even though Covid near scuppered their sell-by date on the after dinner circuit.

Whatever their motive sniggering up their sleeves at the gullible peasants enjoying a £32M sham circus was breathtaking in its arrogance.

Up there with honourable Uncle Andy not sweating.

VanillaIce · 10/03/2021 20:50

The hymns thing was weird. I’m sure at the chapel at Sandringham they have hymnals and at the big Westminster Abbey occasions they’re all holding orders of service. Why did she think she had to learn them?

Also, isn’t the national anthem one of the easiest to learn in the world? That’s like ten mins on YouTube - how is that daunting?

chaosrabbitland · 10/03/2021 21:54

@HumousWhereTheHeartIs

They aren't naive. They knew this would have enormous implications. So why was it so important to have their say? It could be damaging beyond repair for Harry.
i think they did it out of spite and revenge because they couldnt get to leave and get what they wanted out of it , which was their half in half out where they got to live in another country and have all the perks and money out of it .. when harry is moaning about being finacially cut of that speaks volumes to me , never mind hes a grown man with millions in his bank account he expected his family to fund their lavish lifestyle even when they both walked away . its got nothing to do with clearing up matters and speaking their minds , what did they say that was really anything no one expected ? nothing . absolutely nothing , i wasnt surprised by what she and then he came out with at all , its so sad hes happy to see his family in shreds whilst he lives happily in his mansion in sunny california . if they were going to make these allegations then more details should have been provided , she should have named the royal who commented about the babys skin colour , it would be too damaging for them , jesus so its better to throw them all under a cloud of suspicion then ? so why bring it up at all if your not prepared to name names ! its sheer poisonous malice to be honest and who knows how the family really feel about him now , the latest statement is they are still much loved members , but they cant really say much else though , i dont see him being welcomed back with open arms anytime in the near future , and maybe that suits him , although if it all goes wrong with m though it will be interesting to see how he feels then

@00100001

Their trump card is holding back who questioned the skin color of the baby.

Well, who even knows if it's true that it was questioned??

They have lied and bent the truth to suit their narrative with "proven" facts. Marriage... titles...

Who says this is claim is true???

It looks like a threat. I wonder what they expect to get for not releasing the info to the world.

What a nasty piece of business. She is quite dangerous, but if she was a weak point, now it will be found. That's what I see the move about the palace bullying accusations as a warning / threat too.

It all looks really nasty, and I am not even thinking about all that is at stake!

user1481840227 · 10/03/2021 22:16

the latest statement is they are still much loved members , but they cant really say much else though , i dont see him being welcomed back with open arms anytime in the near future

Well they must not be a very loving family if they wouldn't be willing to welcome him back with open arms!!

At the end of the day leaving the royalty aside and the public image, they are still family so if the family wouldn't welcome them back then that says more about them than it does about him!
I'm speaking about Charles in particular there because while sibling relationships and fueds can last for a long time, parents would normally be keen to make up with their children!!!

MrsTabithaTwitchit · 10/03/2021 22:18

Their security paid for ?

Lucaslucas1612 · 10/03/2021 22:26

I think she pointed this out in the interview. She wants to tell her truth and respond to what she sees as lies and unfair press against her.

Now she's made a formal complaint again pierce Morgan. What does she want from that? Is no one allowed to say anything critical about her without being sued or made a complaint against? It seems she can't have any scrutiny or negative press yet it's fine for her to do the same to others.

gottakeeponmovin · 10/03/2021 22:30

@PresentingPercy I have had three miscarriages. Most people I know have had at least one. I have not grieved as though a person has died for any of them and neither have they. What a ridiculous thing to say
