Harry & Meghan - to hope the Royals answer back?

I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

@Janegrey333

it was William, now the succession doesn't have a wife abuser then a nice young man, it has a wife abuser and then a stonking big racist. Oops.

What are you trying to say? It’s as clear as mud here.

I'm saying that it's my opinion that William probably made the offending remark - and it was likely as offensive as Harry took it to be.

We know it was William who opposed the marriage, that was reported in the news. OTOH, Charles walked Meghan up the aisle.

Who's more likely to have worried about a particularly African-American appearing child? The guy who opposed the marriage - and that's William.

FedNlanders · 09/03/2021 18:31

Good response from the Queen.

It won't have been William.

twelly · 09/03/2021 18:32

I expect the private conversation with my family members to be private - not broadcast. I don't expect to have explain what I meant or didn't mean. Quite a betrayal I feel for a private conversation to be relayed across the world

the80sweregreat · 09/03/2021 18:36

I wonder if we will ever know who it was?

PheasantPlucker1 · 09/03/2021 18:37

When did William ever say he opposed the marriage?

redspecial · 09/03/2021 18:37

so much imaginary bollocks from the republicans, desperately trying to salvage an argument out of somewhere at preferably the next in line.

You're talking about Harry's own father and brother, and like a pp said I expect family conversations to be private, not vomited out on TV for woke points just because others have refused to bend to my (very demanding, allegedly) will.

Either way, as family gender reveal announcements go this has to be the shittest one ever.

@dopenguinsdance

Thomas Markle has made the point in today's interviews that he's been ostracized by his daughter and accused by her of behaving badly "but at least I never dressed up as a Nazi or played naked pool' Smile. Glad to see that HM isn't indulging in any tit for tat. At least someone's remaining dignified as opposed to disneyfied.
I saw most of the TM interview and I thought he seemed like a sad, tired old man. I really don’t believe he’s done anything to warrant being cut off from his dd and dgm for the rest of his life. If his account of his conversation with H when he was in hospital is correct, then H is a horrible human being.
FedNlanders · 09/03/2021 18:40

I also felt for TM

Pellewsmate · 09/03/2021 18:40

Nothing was said to Meghan about the possible skin colour of Archie, a family member mentioned something to Harry who told Meghan. Someone could have said "Let's hope the baby takes after Meghan because you look like a beetroot after going in the sun". I'd be very surprised if people didn't comment on the possibility of W or H inheriting C ears, it's what families do.
We do know that H is fragile with MH issues and was already on the defensive, maybe an innocent remark was taken out of context and that with time and brooding things have been blown out of proportion.

redspecial · 09/03/2021 18:40

@PheasantPlucker1 its rumoured that W advised H to slow down and get to know her. Similar rumour about Harry's best friend, who was then cut from Harry's life.

Noidea2114 · 09/03/2021 18:40

I've read somewhere that Omid who wrote Finding Freedom is quoted as saying it's someone who is aged between 50-100.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 18:42

@PheasantPlucker1

When did William ever say he opposed the marriage?
I don't think he did - I think it was reported (probably from finding freedom) that there was an "are you sure you shouldn't slow the fuck down bro" kind of conversation which Harry was very offended by.
Liquorishtoffee · 09/03/2021 18:44

Blimey - people said that about me and the old man... (we got together very quickly). 30 years later and counting...

Hellsbells35 · 09/03/2021 18:45

I loved the interview and think they’re inspirational for speaking out about the terrible things that happen inside the palace x

PheasantPlucker1 · 09/03/2021 18:46

Slow down and get to know someone is advice, not opposition to a wedding.

With hindsight its bloody brilliant advice Grin. I dont see how anyone can take "William opposed the marriage" from that.

Onlinedilema · 09/03/2021 18:47

Well I always liked Harry and Meghan. I thought they could have done a lot of good. After seeing some of the interview (I couldn't stand to watch it all, it was mind numbing) I really dislike them both. All they could muster up was some one, somewhere may have once said something vaguely derogatory about me/my spouse/my non existent child.

If you have a problem with a certain newspaper or journalist then say so. Name the newspaper and the article and focus on that. However whinging about The Firm- what ever that means-and trying to blame the Royal Family is absurd. The press are vile so name and shame them. I don't really know what they were trying to say, just total crap quite frankly.
Scraping the barrel for maximum exposure. I think they will get on living in the USA and good luck to them. I don't think any of their lifestyle should be funded by the British tax payer.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 18:47

They said it to us too. And much worse besides, my FIL is a charmer

In this context I think William had a point though - they didn't know each other well and they weren't planning to marry but not be active royals, at that point the apparent plan was to be working royals. His concerns weren't unreasonable really

OhforaRainyDay · 09/03/2021 18:48

The Royals answer back constantly and they basically control the press.

Did you see the woman reporter on TV this morning saying that twice the Palace had phoned her to ask her to not publish a negative story about William, and if she agreed to cover up the story then they'd give her a negative story about Harry in exchange?

Remember the outraged press statement Kensington Palace issued following Kate's Tatler article, and the subsequent legal action which forced Tatler to remove the part of the article that mentioned Rose?

That same article repeated the lie about Meghan made Kate cry. William and Kate knew it was a lie, yet in all their screaming and shouting and complaining and legal threats about the article, they didn't bother to include that particular lie.

PheasantPlucker1 · 09/03/2021 18:50

@Hellsbells35

I loved the interview and think they’re inspirational for speaking out about the terrible things that happen inside the palace x
But what were the "terrible things?"
CarrotIsApple · 09/03/2021 18:51

Why are the billying claims a public matter but racist comments being 'being discussed in pvt'? #Asking4aFriend

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 18:51

We don't know it's a lie - we know meghan says it is.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 09/03/2021 18:51

It was a very dignified statement from the palace. Bet Granny's changing her will, nonetheless.

PheasantPlucker1 · 09/03/2021 18:53

Kate and Maghan crying - one had just given birth, one was about to have a huge public wedding in a foreign country.

Id cry at the slightest thing if I was in either situation!

redspecial · 09/03/2021 18:55

We do know that H is fragile don't we just. If we didn't before, we all do now. Fragile, heart on sleeve, kind & generous, dramatic. He is his mother's son, loved her, but she was a complicated woman.

I suspect their dreams for a particular brand of Californian superstardom are busted, unless they want to go the full Kardashian, A listers are savvy people, they won't like to be too close to people so thin skinned who run their mouths off to the world for exposure.

PowerhouseMamma · 09/03/2021 18:57

Telling Harry to slow down was actually very sensible advice from William.

After witnessing their own parents' sham of a marriage and their uncles and aunt'ss catastrophes, who wouldn't be? William took ages to come to the conclusion that he wanted to marry Kate and that was a very good decision. That marriage will probably last.

Harry on the other hand was going out with an actress divorcee who he knew for 5 minutes before he wanted to get married. Also, Wills probably saw her for what she is, a master manipulator. Nothing to do with her colour. AS it happens, William was right to ask him to hold off.

She is a disaster who is trying to bring down the monarchy.
