I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

‘Aware of racism’? So no one ever said “Hazza, mate, it’s not cool to call a fellow soldier a p*’?“

He didn’t read anything at all about Diana (all the hooha about ‘Phil ordering her hit’ because she was seeing a Muslim surgeon and later Dodi, and the gossip of her wanting another baby)?

Noidea2114 · 09/03/2021 09:38

Doesn't Meghans portfolio for her acting states that she could play parts of Latino people are they classed as black and she can play
tanned white people.

Regarding her mental health issues and not getting support I blame Harry.
If you or I said to our Dhs they would advise seeing a health professional. Considering that Harry had counseling for MH then
he wouldn't need permission from others to get M help. They have enough money to get the best person to help her privately.
Yet he stated HE was embarrassed. What a poor husband he is coming across as.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 09:42

He could reportedly yell at people over tiara arrangements, but not about her needing healthcare? Nonsense. As her husband and the father of the baby she was carrying her the one who should have been getting her help.

How is that any different to Angelina Jolie playing Mariano Pearl, who was mixed race?

Seems like a weird stick to beat Meghan with.

Yes Harry has come across as weak and a bit dim.

He also didn’t prepare her well for meeting the family or life as a royal. He should have given her more explanation as to what life would be like.

dopenguinsdance · 09/03/2021 10:17

No. Nothing good will come of adding to the existing dissonance and cacophony. The only thing they should do perhaps is to take the chance to draw a clear line between The Family and The Firm, making it clear that the bullying allegations (on both sides) are being investigated in terms of the employee/employer relationship within the royal household. Otherwise, if even Boris can manage to zip his lips, the RF can too.

00100001 · 09/03/2021 10:18

@Cassilis

You are though. You’re saying she doesn’t look black enough for you, so you assume she’s white. That’s the definition of whitewashing.

Absolutely.

Excuse me for thinking the woman in the photo I posted wasn't black. If that's the only picture I had if her, please please tell me what features she has that makes her black?
00100001 · 09/03/2021 10:20

@Ostryga

I am saying that when I saw her at first. From that photo, I didn't realise she was black.

I realise now, with other photos, bit I don't think I whitewashed the woman.

00100001 · 09/03/2021 10:21
@00100001 you watched the interview didn’t you? You have seen more than one photo of her right? What is the issue? You clearly are being deliberately obtuse.

Have you not seen MM mother before or did you assume she was white too?

It’s funny how your engaging about someone with so little knowledge.
No. I haven't watched the interview.

I am saying that when I FIRST SAW photos, like the one I posted, I didn't realise she was black.

Ostryga · 09/03/2021 10:23

@00100001 so when you first saw photos of Meghan, what 5 years ago? You didn’t realise she was black. Fine. Why are you still going on about it now? Clearly you must know her mother is black by now. So why bring it up?

It’s whitewashing, and it is racist.

@00100001

I don’t understand the relevance to what you’re saying?

Even if you didn’t know she had black heritage by looking at her, you can’t have failed to know that her mother is black by now surely?

Even if you didn’t know this, I’m not sure how it’s relevant?

MrPickles73 · 09/03/2021 10:43

ostryga when watching suits I didn't know / think that MM was black. She looks hispanic to me. I understood when I saw her mum. But I think we should all behave as adults rather than pidgeon holing people.
I don't think the bad press was anything to do with her skin tone. If you remember the di v fergie days di was held up on a pedestal whereas fergie was considered a but uncouth, dumpy and less well dressed. I think the press is a fncktard generally.

Motnight · 09/03/2021 10:47

@mainsfed

What do Will and Harry care about Diana's interview with Martin Basheer? Not a jot I bet. She is still their mum.
I've read reports that William was very upset about this at the time, and the fallout that he had to deal with as a school boy knowing that his classmates had all watched it.
mainsfed · 09/03/2021 10:51

Reports from indentified sources? Very believable.

Lollipop1234 · 09/03/2021 10:52

“ I think the press is a fncktard generally.”

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. The press have a lot to answer for.

I agree I don’t think the bad press was wholly down to her race, remember what a bad time Kate had too..... The press always seem to have a bad guy, perhaps it sells more but it’s not something I want to read about. I’d rather they stick to reporting facts only.

Harry and Meghan were not massively cooperative with the press so they suffered the consequences.

mainsfed · 09/03/2021 10:52

Maybe Diana speaking out about her problems is the reason why Harry couldn't take his pregnant wife crying every day (as he said in the interview) and actually took steps to change things.

Smokeahontas · 09/03/2021 10:53

As regards to the alleged racist comment, I think Harry was a bit surprised it had been brought up & didn’t want to get into it.

That said, you can’t let the genie half way out of the bottle and then try to shove it back in. Rather like everything else with them, it’s been drip drip drip.

If they’re alleging a comment was made, then he needs to say exactly what was said and who said it. It’s a serious allegation that needs to be addressed.

You can’t make a complaint to, say, the the police or HR about a racist comment & then refuse to say who said it & what they said.

What child is going to appreciate their mother going on national tv to confirm her adultery? It's not a huge leap to see that this would negatively affect her children, is it?
StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 11:04

The daily mail has already started "fact checking" - one of the allegations they cover is the "hadn't left the house for months". They have it as "contested" and mention that the press were offered photos of her on various trips but didn't buy them.

That made me wonder if we're going to start seeing a whole bunch of paparazzi photos of various outings which the press previously wouldn't have published coming out of the woodwork.

Did the headlines about her being "STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON" and all the hip hop references just pass you by????? Hmm

There were MANY examples of racist articles in the Mail. Followed by disgusting racist comments from the public on the website.

MrPickles73 · 09/03/2021 11:28

Tbh I don't read the daily mail or know where compton is. Agreed the public's comments in these articles can be appalling.

Has it affected them? They both seem happily married with kids and well adjusted.

This is just another way to shut women up.

Exactly the way that the racism is minimised by white people.
redspecial · 09/03/2021 11:50

exactly how is not reading that bloody awful paper or not knowing where a neighbourhood half way round the world is, racism? let alone minimising racism?

MrPickles73 · 09/03/2021 11:56

Surely racism is about how you feel about and see other races rather than whether you read a certain news paper or how good you are on american geography??
