Best place in Hull is surely Hull Cheese?! Grin

SunbathingDragon · 21/09/2020 12:46

@Viviennemary

Firing people seems to be Meghans answer to everything. Whether it staff, lawyers, friends, husbands even her own father. Whose next I wonder.
This is true. Perhaps the next one to be fired will be the judge? Grin
froggygoneacourting · 21/09/2020 12:53

It was her friend who dumped her (because she was upset Meghan got divorced), and Meghan’s dad who cut contact with her after she stopped financially supporting him.

Presumably Harry was equally involved in the decision to fire the nanny whose behaviour was so bad she had to be sent packing at 3am her second night.

wufti · 21/09/2020 13:05

question for legal boffins. is it usual to have so many preliminary hearings? I just assumed the next hearing would be the case "proper"?

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 21/09/2020 13:13

Had to be? What possible behaviour could result in having no other option but to ask someone to leave at 3am? Was she setting fire to the nursery? Why on earth couldn't it wait until the morning?

wufti · 21/09/2020 13:34

just read (Reuters) that the MoS want to add Finding Freedom to their case as an example of Meghan being happy to have private info about her in the media

AnneOfQueenSables · 21/09/2020 13:35

The nanny issue is odd because everything else seems to have been documented or leaked somewhere. I've always thought it must have been a massive security breach and that's why they were sacked immediately and there's no detail. Based on nanny threads on here that could range from going into rooms they shouldn't, to trying to move their bf in Grin
Whoever vets their staff seems a bit rubbish. Their cleaning/household staff in the US leaked to the media too.
In the Angela Kelly book, it seems the RF usually employ people who already have a track record of discretion.

I’m not surprised. It’s strong evidence for them. I wonder if they will be able to call OS to court to question how much information came direct from H&M.

I read elsewhere that she fired him because he defended Johnny Depp and MM is friends with Amber Heard .

Maireas · 21/09/2020 15:08

She should hire Amal Clooney!

AnneOfQueenSables · 21/09/2020 15:11

I wonder if, because it was a night nanny, they just thought this is like 3pm for them ie middle of the working day so it's fine to fire them with immediate effect Hmm
It's reminding me of when a colleague handed in their notice and said they were going to work for a competitor. They were immediately escorted from the office with their belongings in a box and told to stay at home for the rest of their notice period. But that's a very corporate response related to protecting trade secrets. So, not really relevant to this. Grin

Mominatrix · 21/09/2020 18:01

Shooglywheel : I think it’s the hypocrisy most people have an issue with - the “do as we say, not as we do” from H&M.
We are told to be mindful of the environment from 2 people who take private jets places and live in a house which far exceeds their needs and must be a massive energy drain. If you want to live and travel in luxury, fine, but do not turn round and lecture others about climate change. If they REALLY meant it, they would have chosen a home that was a beacon of energy efficiency.
H was apparently passionate about Invictus but not enough to drop his support for a Netflix deal.
The continued calls for privacy, yet making public pronouncements on things also doesn’t add up.
Can you see the mismatch?

Additionally, it is quite difficult to take someone seriously who makes a "Remember to Vote!" message in the US using the title Duchess of Sussex. Seriously? Wrong on so many levels.

Don’t know about the preliminaries but the proper hearing is due to start on 11th January.
MissEliza · 21/09/2020 21:28

What I'm getting tired of seeing is the endless happy little stories about H and M eg today a piece about Archie calling PC 'Pa' on a zoom call. It just rings of PR people trying to keep their names out there.

AnneOfQueenSables · 22/09/2020 00:02

For all I'm a cynic about PR articles, I'm also a complete sucker for a baby story. If they just released a string of 'Archie said ...' stories I'd feel more warmly towards them.

I am probably missing something but if M is suing the DM for printing a private letter , why is she not suing the authors of FF for doing the same ?

I guess by the time the book came out the letter had already been published widely , so could no longer be called private.
froggygoneacourting · 22/09/2020 10:55

Iirc Scobie’s argument is that he quoted the parts of the letter that had been printed in the Daily Mail, thus the DM and not the original letter was his primary source.

If Meghan sued him she’d have to sue every single publication and blog that re-printed or re-posted part of the DM story. I’m not sure what precedent there is in law for suing someone for repeating newspaper content.

Why she isn’t suing People is more pertinent!!

SunbathingDragon Good point !!

AnneOfQueenSables · 22/09/2020 12:17

Reading the ITV article, can any of our lawyers/legal experts on here explain why the costs are mounting so much? AN seem to find it unexpected.
