@AnneOfQueenSables

Reading the ITV article, can any of our lawyers/legal experts on here explain why the costs are mounting so much? AN seem to find it unexpected.
Half a dozen people on conference calls to prepare for the call with the client, same half dozen on the call with the client. Junior prepares brief; mid-level reviews it, draft to senior partner. Sr partner runs it past client. Rinse and repeat, until it's...midnight and it has to go...

I'd put the working monthly budget at around GBP120- 150K.

AnneOfQueenSables · 22/09/2020 17:42

But none of that is unexpected so why are they surprised?

Viviennemary · 22/09/2020 18:09

The point is if the Sunday Mail breached copyright then so did FF. That would be my take. Unless MM gave her express permission.

SunbathingDragon · 22/09/2020 18:12

I haven’t read FF to see how much of the letter is in it but I wonder whether it’s avoiding the breach because it was already in the public domain. Could People have been classed as breaching it (again, I haven’t read the article)?

Maireas · 22/09/2020 19:20

If Meghan shared the letter with five friends, does that undermine her case? Maybe suing Scobie and Durand is next, that Finding Freedom book contained a lot of very personal details.

Viviennemary · 22/09/2020 20:45

How could Scobie and Co know things that only took place when M&H were alone. Did he make it all up. Has he got a crystal ball. Did he talk to friends of M& H. Did he talk to M&H. He says they didn't co-operate. Which surely means they didn't talk go him and thry didn't authorize their friends to give out information.

MM has been told to hand over ) months of WhatsApp messages FT logs etc
If I were her I would try to settle out of court .

Can't she just delete everything?
OVienna · 22/09/2020 21:38

Not that simple. They're be signs of that. I'll check this point and report back.

Maireas · 22/09/2020 21:46

This is very intriguing. Hubris?

Viviennemary · 22/09/2020 22:01

She won't. She'll drop it in a puddle or something I bet. Or it might get stolen.

StartupRepair · 22/09/2020 22:24

And now M and H are saying that Finding Freedom is all wrong and nothing to do with them. Hard to keep up, isn't it?

Maireas · 22/09/2020 22:27

Are they going to sue Scobie?

Who keeps whatsapp messages from years ago?

SwordfishShashlik · 22/09/2020 22:37

Does anyone have a photo of a six year old boy dribbling chocolate and then denying that he’d eaten the Christmas Tree decorations?

Smacks of this.

MissEliza · 22/09/2020 23:45

@WatershipDown7 normal people will have them because they have nothing to hide.

StartupRepair · 23/09/2020 01:39

How did Scobie know the precise set up of the tiara vault without any input from the happy couple?

WatershipDown7 · 23/09/2020 07:54

Or the time that the Queen has her bath on the Royal train? Perhaps Scobie can magic himself around in a sort of invisibility suit to spy on anything he likes? I’d rather he wrote a book about that frankly. It would be far more interesting than the drivel he has written.

This is becoming even more interesting ! ( I really must find other things to do in these restricted times ! )

Wheresthebeach · 23/09/2020 08:54

Presumably she must hand over all the information or be in contempt of court? A sudden phone accident isn't going to wash anywhere. She also needs to explain how FF has so much detail about her life.

They've just thrown Scoobie under a bus, so everyone is going to know that when the chips are down that's what she'll do to them. Not a good look.

Now they are involving themselves even further in the US Presidential selection. They need to return their titles voluntarily if this is how they want to behave. I've no problem with what they do as private citizens, but they are attacking the RF while living off the publicity and connections of being Royal.

He probably borrowed Harry Potter's Invisibility Cloak.
Oldbutstillgotit · 23/09/2020 09:10

If they are going to continue to be involved in politics they really have to drop the Sussex titles .
H isn’t entitled to vote so it is odd that he is speaking out .
I cannot imagine HM being impressed.

SunbathingDragon · 23/09/2020 09:41

It is what MM looks to have systematically done throughout her life because there are many more people she has dropped than not. Yes some friendships and relationships break down, but when it continually keeps happening you have to look at the common cause or person involved.

The judge has already formally said that he believes MM gives OS private information and maybe this is her way of countering that. It’ll be interesting to see OS being questioned in court. Whilst I am not speculating he will commit (or her five friends will commit) perjury (because I would hope they wouldn’t) but it will be interesting to see whether he will continue to keep any loyalty towards MM now that she has publicly ditched him (same goes for JM).

At lot will depend on how OS feels about all of this and also whether he thinks he needs to try to keep H&M onside for his further career. After all, FF must have annoyed others in the RF so he will struggle to be a royal reporter if the entire family and H&M are against him so not providing any information. However, he might feel he has made loads of money from FF and and isn’t really interested in maintaining a relationship with anyone. I would hope that the other author will also be questioned under oath to make sure her story correlates with OS.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 23/09/2020 09:48

It’s hard to understand why Harry is involving himself in politics - why does he think it is something to do with him?
Is there a personal gain or slight involved ?
I thought it was odd he was pointedly rude and blanked Boris Johnson at the Commonwealth Service
What is the end goal to him ?
