And I’m not trying to dictate where people should post with my suggestion. It was just an attempt to find a compromise as the current situation doesn’t seem much fun for anyone.

Jaxsbum · 26/09/2020 17:45

that was a thing. but sadly did not work.

Maireas · 26/09/2020 17:56

Gwyneth Paltrow Queen of Arse 😂 😂

SwordfishShashlik · 26/09/2020 18:22

that was a thing. but sadly did not work.

Why not @Jaxsbum? Why not have a thread where there is one point of view and posters with an alternative point of view stick to their own thread?

derxa · 26/09/2020 18:35

Why not have a thread where there is one point of view and posters with an alternative point of view stick to their own thread? People just post on both threads and upset ensues

Chatnotnet · 26/09/2020 18:56

Yes, @we should be able to air our views on Harry and Meghan (they don't deserve to use their titles!).
I've been reading these threads since they quit in Jan! It's been great but have hated how some peoples views are taken as offensive, and some posters just want to take offence and declare posters racist, thick, or similar insult. Just get along with everyone ffs.
British royals should live in Britain, or at least a commonwealth country, they should be celeb. So, its wrong fie them to want the celeb life in LA while still being royal.

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/09/2020 19:14

The travel expenses are hideous. At least this year they will be less.

Honestly, they all need to stop the private jets - none of them have covered themselves in glory.

I hope in the future there is a very stream lined monarchy.

Personally I think H&M should just hand back their titles or however that is done and enjoy their lives, fully financed by themselves and not using some weird titles from the UK.

I even cringed at the Prince William Sir David chairs that have been on insta although I am sure all the heavy weight insiders have views on that Wink

Let us all just hope Harry is happy in the decisions he has made Smile

It really would have been far more helpful to SA females if MM had not used her time on the tour to talk about how hard done to she was as nobody asked how she was feeling. This is to women in a country which has one of the highest rates of rape and abuse of women, she is pretty unpopular there with many.

Zuluqueen · 26/09/2020 21:19

I'm from that corner of the world and to be honest I don't know anyone who cares about royals. The media here and people here didn't seem offended by that documentary. Some like me have been following the MM story out of curiosity to see how a half black woman would fare in the royal family and by the time of the tour happened it was clear the type of coverage she attracts. SA doesn't need a British royal to fight our battles now.Our grandparents and parents could have used royal muscle years ago when apartheid was on our throats .

Me too

So do I.

Viviennemary · 26/09/2020 22:06

I agree.

Oldbutstillgotit · 26/09/2020 22:09

*I hope in the future there is a very stream lined monarchy

Me too . I actually think it will be once the Kents, Gloucesters and Princess Alexandra retire/ pass away .

Roussette · 26/09/2020 22:25

Can but hope

StartupRepair · 26/09/2020 22:37

I think it will be streamlined. It's interesting to note the the Kents and Gloucesters have a profile (and free houses etc) because they stepped in to help the Queen as her cousins for all those years. Charles, William and George will not have this setup.

WatershipDown7 · 26/09/2020 22:49

I agree too about the need for a streamlined monarchy. In fact, I really find the level of spending and privilege obscene. I’d rather they went altogether. Why can’t we have a referendum on THAT?

SwordfishShashlik · 26/09/2020 22:56

What would you do with a load of unemployable ex Royals?

WatershipDown7 · 26/09/2020 23:29

They can go and work in charity shops.

Viviennemary · 26/09/2020 23:29

We can't have a vote on the Royals becsuse it is not allowed. Which make Meghan and Harry speaking up about voting absolutely crass. While using their titles and royal status to give them a voice.

WatershipDown7 · 26/09/2020 23:35

Too true.
HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 26/09/2020 23:59

I'm just imagining Paltrow married to Harry. I think the disagreement about candles in St George's Chapel wouldn't be because they were Diptyque 😱

"We are gathered here today in the presence of God as we join these two together. The sound of church bells in the air beautifully complement the heady aroma of the bride's vagina"

HeddaGarbled · 27/09/2020 00:54

I actually think Gwyneth/Chris is a really good comparison with Meghan/Harry. The British press were convinced that she’d turned a normal Brit guy into this woke, vegan, LA wimp and that the first thing he’d do after they split was go out and order a massive burger. That’s pretty much what a lot of people think about Meghan and Harry.

Viviennemary · 27/09/2020 08:04

Senior palace aides are saying Harry and Meghan violated their agreement with the Queen by speaking out on the US election.

SunbathingDragon · 27/09/2020 08:24

@Viviennemary

Senior palace aides are saying Harry and Meghan violated their agreement with the Queen by speaking out on the US election.
Did we ever know the full terms of their agreement? I’ve only read about upholding the values of HMQ and think that’s quite a broad term which can be used for a multitude of things (and becoming involved with politics could easily be interpreted as violating).

Like it or not, whilst Harry retains his place in line in succession and HRH he is part of the RF. Therefore, there is an expectation and requirement for him to behave in a certain way. I don’t really feel the Sussex titles are overly relevant, although I appreciate that others do.
