*froggygoneacourting

Gosh, people are still banging on about Harry and Meghan telling people to vote? With all the scandal and uproar about today's headlines about the Queen, Andrew, and Will & Kate?*

Ooh, what scandal is that? I haven’t read the papers today so I’m all agog for a bit of scandal gossip Grin

thefatladyscreams · 25/09/2020 15:50

@Royalinsider

That's not really surprising *@Blahblahblahallthetime* - a Daily Mail or similar poll would yield the same or worse results.

It's a bit pathetic that Taltler have put Meghan on the cover for sales once again when they've got an exclusive interview with Melania Trump.

I’m no expert but I suspect the Daily Mail and Tatler have very different readerships Grin. Or are you trying to say people across the social spectrum want their titles removed?
Noidea2114 · 25/09/2020 15:53

SwordfishShashlik there is no scandal. They are included in the article about the royal family expenses.

SwordfishShashlik · 25/09/2020 16:03

Disappointed ☹️ The words “scandal” and “uproar” piqued my considerable interest.

Roussette · 25/09/2020 16:10

Total scandal the amount they all spend on trips abroad.

£210,000 for a 2 day trip by Charles? Shock
£17,000 for Anne to fly to Rome to watch a rugby match. I know she's their patron but that's ridiculous.

And yes I include H&M's £245,000 trip to Africa in this

£5.3million on royal travel in a year. That's the scandal!

Noidea2114 · 25/09/2020 16:21

The way it was worded was that only HMQ, Charles,Andrew, William and Kate were involved but as usual with this thread Harry and Meghan
can do no wrong.

Roussette · 25/09/2020 16:26

What do you mean?

The way what was worded ?

The first post early today was this...
"That Southern Africa trip cost £245k. The one where they spoke about their personal unhappiness"
And the conversation went on from there talking about H&M

They are all guilty of spending vast amounts on travel... £5.3million to be precise.

Royalinsider · 25/09/2020 16:30

Different income or class but both right wing and conservative.

Royalinsider · 25/09/2020 16:30

and both equally anti-Meghan

Ninjava · 25/09/2020 16:34

Re: expenses - I think the issue people have with H&M specifically is that their massively expensive official tour in Africa was completely overshadowed by her ‘surviving not thriving’ interview and then launching the legal case against the MoS. It showed very poor judgement on their part and was incredibly self-centred.

Oh and Andrew is a test and didn’t gain the nickname ‘Airmiles Andy’ for nothing. (This thread isn’t about him though...)

Maireas · 25/09/2020 16:35

In fact, I think Harry and Meghan's trip was the most worthwhile, they visited and engaged with a lot of excellent projects and gave media attention to groups supporting very marginalised people. I just think it's a shame it all got a bit derailed with the unfortunate documentary.

Ninjava · 25/09/2020 16:39

Sorry should say Andy is a twat! My autocorrect obviously doesn’t approve of bad language 🙄

Ninjava · 25/09/2020 16:40

(Wish MN had an edit button...)

Jaxsbum · 25/09/2020 16:47

@Ninjava

Thanks for the heads up about William’s nature documentary - I don’t normally watch ITV but will make an effort to find and watch that as it sounds interesting. (In contrast to the projects I’ve seen listed as part of H&M’s Netflix deal, which sound really quite tedious as far as I’m concerned!)
So he is doing/or done a nature doc? Has he given up hunting?
SunbathingDragon · 25/09/2020 17:13

They undoubtably visited and did a lot of good work on the tour but that’s not what was remembered or what the media articles about it said, and that’s entirely of their own making. There was no need for their insensitive comments at the end or for the legal action. If they had just waited a few weeks, it would have made all the difference. Bad or insensitive timing seems to be something that consistently follows what they do.
Maireas · 25/09/2020 17:27

I agree, @SunbathingDragon. It would have been a great success, but the announcement of the legal action and that surviving/thriving just ruined it, and many months of hard work by the planning team.

AnneOfQueenSables · 25/09/2020 17:34

RoyalInsider you might want to ask for your earlier post to be deleted. I'm sure your uncle's position and his friend's rely upon their ability to be discreet. Posting on internet forums about confidential pitches is probably against the terms of their contracts.

Royalinsider · 25/09/2020 18:25

I checked whether it was ok before posting, they can't discuss current or former people who have signed though.

Ninjava · 25/09/2020 18:31

But they CAN comment on the pitch put to them by PW that they didn’t take up??? That sounds, erm, unlikely...

Ninjava · 25/09/2020 18:33

Or really unprofessional. Maybe that’s why he ended up going with the BBC instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

mrscampbellblackagain · 25/09/2020 18:38

This thread is getting very odd - are we in fanfiction territory now? Wink

HarryDaylight · 25/09/2020 18:48

@Ninjava

I think that's the likely answer. Gossiping to anyone, even family, is frowned upon and considered highly unprofessional. Simply because a contract wasn't agreed and signed by both parties, which would have included the NDA clause, doesn't excuse that conduct. Everyone in the industry knows that.
Royalinsider · 25/09/2020 20:20

The Kensington team released the information to a media outflet before Netflix agreed to a programme or project, is that unprofessional too?

Royalinsider · 25/09/2020 20:56

“A senior royal source insisted the couple are under no obligation to pay the money back after announcing their decision to quit as senior royals in March, stressing it was a key visit approved by the Foreign Office.”

The trip was requested by the British High Commissioner of South Africa.
There were over 30 engagements
They travelled over 15,000 miles within southern Africa.
Three of the countries signed a trade deal timed to align with the tour, Harry also visited Angola to recruit them to the Commonwealth.

H&M: 10 day tour to 4 southern Africa countries = £245K = £24.5K a day
Charles: 2 day trip to Oman = £210K = £105K a day
4 day trip to Japan = £113K = £28.25K/day
W&K: 5 day tour to Pakistan = £117K = £23.4K a day

W&K Far East tour flight costs - £370K

An actual wasteful royal tour here:

What's really disgusting is how people are hating on H&M for wanting to be financially independent or how they spent x amount on their trip whilst turning a blind eye to the fact we are bailing the queen out cos her investments went down and she has lost some profit! PROFIT!! UNBELIEVABLE we are bailing her out.

Shameful, disgusting and does anyone say anything? No but plenty to say on H&M
