I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

But I heard Omid Scobie interviewed on TV this morning and he sounded entirely British.*

Well according to his books, 38degrees is cool and crisp weather, and Meghan was excited to get a London "zip code". It also explains that boxing day is a British holiday so it has very much been written for the American Market. I also wonder who proof read it as, talking about her first Christmas after announcing their engagement, it details the gifts George, Charlotte and Louis recieved - except Louis wasn't born for another 4months. Is it normal to buy wooden blocks for an unborn baby?
I'm 55% of the way through now. Definitely frosty towards Kate and William.

The book also says that MM went to the same prestigious pre school in LA as Johnny Depp - JD grew up in Kentucky so I highly doubt it.

I did a Google check and JD sent his kids to the school. So an obvious error that wasn't picked up during fact checking and proof reading so who knows what else is nonsense most likely all of it.

Scobie has proved they aren't good at stating facts.... Are they 33 or 39? 😂

The idea of her gathering cast and crew for a prayer circle just sounds so unlikely to me. I’ve worked on two tv series and it’s absolutely full-on work for the crew all the time. The idea that crew have time for “prayer circles” nvm that they would agree to it if not told to by the director or add (as a rule Canadians are not terribly religious & the vast majority of the crew would have been Canadian) seems not like any set I’ve been on.

The thing about this claim, is there must be someone that could, if they were minded to, comment on it. This is very specific. It is also the sort of thing that I think someone might WANT to comment on if it wasn't true.

MM was a supporting actress on Suits - I sincerely can’t believe she had the power on set to hold prayer meetings with the entire cast and crew.

It’s all too silly and makes MM and PH look stupid - which cannot be the intention whether they knew about it or not

Most celebrities produce "autobiographies" with their name on, but actually ghostwritten by someone infinitely more accomplished and literate than they are.

Trust Meghan to do things the other way around!

I'm getting quite annoyed about articles saying its about H&M because, from what I've read, it is all about M. Honestly for every event it mentions it goes into great details about her every thought about outfit choice and accessories, stating the specific designer of each piece. H got one sentence at the beginning about how he wore chinos and white shirt on the first date. That was it. I'm currently on the chapters around the wedding and it is so detailed with everything M did, where she stayed, what she ate, and every thought, but not anything about H. At all. It is 100% a biography of MM not the couple.

i've read before that MM kept a diary from the beginning, maybe that book is based on that diary and other interviews with different sources which suit them.

if so detailed about what brands she wore, what they ate, it must be from the diary.

It may be that Harry’s friends are more discreet.

It is quite possible that PH is telling the truth and didn't have any involvement in or prior knowledge of this biography. It is also possible that MM might have set the wheels in motion without ever mentioning this to PH until it was far, far too late. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when she met Omid. She could have mentioned "in passing" that she kept a diary and that it was so frustrating that no-one got to hear her POV etc. This isn't speculation. Both PH and MM have been very open about their frustrations in this regard.

When news of the publication broke PH would have had no option but to go along with it. The alternative would have been to go legal and then for it all to have come out that MM kept a diary, etc. PH would have been aware of Royal protocol regarding spilling the beans so maybe he suggested they put out a statement stating that they hadn't been involved. Damage limitation if you like.

If PH hadn't read it or been actively involved with it he might not have been aware that the level of detail regarding handbags, makeup, dresses, shoes etc. is just too minute to have resulted from the author having cosy pow wows with MM's loose lipped friends.

It is possible for people with no association with a book to have a financial interest which would enable them to benefit from sales profits. Years ago authors used to finance books by selling shares of the profits to potential subscribers. I'm sure it still happens, except that said subscribers would now be anonymous offshore companies. Just sayin'

I don’t think Americanisms means Scobie didn’t write those bits, I’m sure he’s capable of switching lingos. To me that doesn’t point to Meghan’s hand. What does, to me, is her thoughts in moments that seem unlikely to have cropped up in chats with friends, like the yoga in Africa description for example.

I think I am about to crack and order it for my kindle.

I’m talking about the very subtle differences like “riding” an elevator or in a “Riding in a car“. It really comes across as written by an American.

On top of that it’s quite badly edited, I’ve noticed one or two grammatical errors where there shouldn’t be any. So it’s not down to fastidiousness.
And yes it’s entirely about Meghan!!

I can't think of any occasion where my friends would know or remember what I wore or ate, even if they were there. I realise my life is very different from Meghan's but this obsessive level of detail must come straight from her.
