Daily Mail reports they have privately married at Windsor Castle.

Lovely news if true.

According to Chris Ship on Twitter, photos will not be released until tomorrow as they don't want to distract from Captain Tom's knighthood this afternoon. Very thoughtful and something other branches of the family would do well to copy.

It's a bit mean to imply that they weren't being thoughtful by choosing to marry on Camilla's birthday. There are so many things in royal diaries that there are bound to be clashes sometimes.

@Becles I wasn't implying that! Not sure how you determined that's what I was thinking of - which was actually the habit of certain other family members of releasing photos at a time that clashes with someone else's event.

They couldn’t do much else before the C20th. There was a bit of a shortage of technology.

You don’t need technology to have a public ceremony. Didn’t the Tudors used to incorporate public parades into weddings and coronations?

I don't get the love for Beatrice here. I'm sure she's a nice woman, but what have I missed that some of you seem to know, unless people here know her in rl?

I think a lot of people have had to put their wedding on ice or arrange a much smaller affair than planned. I wish Beatrice well and hope she enjoyed her day.

To be honest, I like some of the RF but feel apart from the immediate members in line to the throne, the extended family are hangers-on to me.
I dislike the idea of one family by accident of birth having wealth and privilege, whilst we have some children in our country living in poverty.
I personally would have felt critical of an expensive big wedding for Beatrice, when many of us are experiencing furlough, cut hours and job losses.
I feel indifferent towards Beatrice as a person, but am prepared to give credit where it's due and feel that in the light of Covid and the mood of the nation, they have absolutely got it right this time. A private, classy affair, without the dodgy parents on show and taxpayers paying for security. No flaunting of their privilege this time, just getting on with it. I think it should set a precedent going forward (although we do need to see photo's!)

Bea is lovely apparently. I don't know her in RL but DD2 has met her. I'm not a royalist but I'm happy for her on a personal level.

Maybe she was delighted to have an excuse not to have a big flashy wedding. It certainly looks as if being married is more important to her than the wedding. Speaks volumes about her. In a very good way.

For me I'm pleasantly surprised that someone growing up with Andrew as a dad and Fergie as a mum can be bearable at all. It would have wrecked many people. She has a job and independence and has taken lots of jibes at her dress sense and looks in her stride.

If it's what she wanted, then it's a lovely way to have got married.

I do feel though that it would have been impossible for Prince Andrew to have publicly walked her down the aisle.

The flowers are absolutely gorgeous. There is something very vintage about the whole look, including B’s dress.

She looks very happy, anyway, which is the main thing at a wedding. I hope it works out for her.
