No but Jamie lee Curtis doesn’t try and get gigs and jobs based on her ‘knowledge and expertise’ of being married into a title.
She created a career based solely on her talent. MM is trying to jump the graft and hard work route to the top by trading on her connections to the royal family.

FromEden · 02/07/2020 18:10

Far from gaining £1 billion in tourist revenues in the wedding year, the country lost £1.7 billion.

Lol. Well that put them in their place. How embarrassing to make such a claim. Weird how the couple can go from apparently loving a country to clearly despising it so fast and even weirder to make it so personal, like its the entire country against them on a personal level to the point that the population must be schooled in how they are wrong. Are they ok?

FannyCann · 02/07/2020 18:13

I wish the court case was being presided over by Judge Rinder. Maybe there will be a re-enactment on Netflix.

With Judge Judy for the appeal 😂

Eaumyword · 02/07/2020 18:16

For a couple who wished be left alone and live their lives quietly, they sure are continuing to attract drama and seem to go with 'any publicity is good publicity'! They seem to be continuing to 'go rogue'...must be very worrying for the RF.

The RF don’t have to defend themselves.
They are taking the best course of action by letting Meghan damn herself with her own statements.

They are doing the right thing. I think their strategy is to leave the door open for Harry to return at some point.

Cartesiandebt · 02/07/2020 19:38

As Napoleon said, ‘Never interrupt your enemy when he’s making a mistake’.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 02/07/2020 20:04

These two are beyond parody. A billion pounds! they are both completely clueless. And as for claiming the RF didn't protect them does that mean that they'll be claiming damages from HMQ next?

They are making themselves completely unemployable except as a novelty act. Sometimes I think the whole thing is just made up nonsense to stop everyone focusing on PA.

catinb0oots · 02/07/2020 20:09

@YgritteSnow

Consider the logic of five friends noting how depressed Meghan is, and deciding a People Magazine article about her relationship with Dad would be just the thing to cheer her up.

That made me snort.

Me too Grin

Having read something recently about H&M dropping the royal legal firm they've used for a long time now, I'm wondering if there is more of an issue lurking/brewing than we've been led to believe. Perhaps they really are considering a lawsuit of some sort, and therefore need separate representation.

I wonder whether the truth is that the legal firm have dropped them.
FromEden · 02/07/2020 20:30

Well there was a blind item a couple of weeks ago saying that there is a legal battle brewing between H&M and the RF and that was the reason they changed legal firms. What could it be in relation to though I wonder?

CallmeAngelina · 02/07/2020 20:34

Well, possibly something to do with the reference in this upcoming court case to lack of protection? Or an accusation of institutionalised racism?
It seems Harry might have been setting out his stall on that one already - conveniently glossing over his own ill-judged past and instead taking it upon himself to apologise on all our behalfs for endemic racism before.

@FromEden

Really? Good grief. They can't possible sue Harry's family. That cannot be true Shock

catinb0oots · 02/07/2020 20:36

Can anyone link to the latest blind please?

I would like to believe that it is not true, but I can actually see it happening now.

SunbathingDragon · 02/07/2020 20:46

Surely you cannot sue HMQ in the U.K.?

Cartesiandebt · 02/07/2020 20:47

What Meghan wants...

Cluehorn · 02/07/2020 20:47

With regards to MM feeling upset with the RF for not “protecting her“, in my experience, people tend to fall into one of two categories.

The more mature person recognises that those around them are doing their best to be supportive even if they don’t do exactly what you might want then to in an ideal world.

The immature person believes that they are entitled to special treatment above and beyond anyone else and throws their toys out of the pram if they don’t get their way.

MM was definitely on the receiving end of a lot of negative press and was upset that the RF didn’t step in as parents, confront the bullies in the playground and fight tooth and nail like some sort of tiger mom.

But the RF don’t operate like that. “Don’t complain, don’t explain” is their their mantra. Especially when the ones making the mistakes in the playground and pissing everyone off are HaM themselves.

I think they are both extremely naive and immature not to have fully grasped yet that they are not at the centre of everyone’s universe and priorities.

ArriettyJones · 02/07/2020 20:53

Maybe the fact that there was a brewing dispute over the use of “Sussex Royal” was of enough of a pretext to drop them, or should I say a potential conflict of interests?

I’m quite sure the BRF didn’t want to share representation with the loose cannons.

ARoseInHarlem · 02/07/2020 20:54

The RF had no duty of care towards MM, certainly not to protect her from negative press.

If they sue, it has to be the whole "the queen doesn't own the word "ROYAL", we can do what we like" thing, not being able to use the brand 'SussexRoyal'. Would explain why there's been no replacement instagram page, no replacement brand - they want to fight it and win it back.

Which, surely, is the quickest possible way to get yourself stripped of your HRH and your Sussex Dukedom. Unless they think HMQ wouldn't do that to her own grandson/ Charles wouldn't do that to his own son. So they'd be daring her/him to do it. Which would be in keeping with the whole "working in collaboration with the Queen" line.

I should probably stop there, it's all sounding a bit too feasible.

BarleylemonPenguin · 02/07/2020 20:55

They are prepared to haul a parent (Thomas Markle) through the courts so it's not exactly inconceivable. I am beginning to think that all the usual boundaries and norms governing familial relations are not operating in this case.

Sounds very feasible.
CallmeAngelina · 02/07/2020 20:59

The more I think about it, the more I think it's even worse behind the scenes than we think.
