With regard to subjects being done to death, there are a lot of new posters to these threads who maybe haven't read all the previous ones. They won't be aware of all that has been discussed so I don't think they're dragging things up just for the sake of it. Unless they read through every single one they won't know what has been covered.

@ TheNavigator the point I was trying to make ( obviously not very well) was that it must have been hard for someone who had been so independent to suddenly be ( allegedly) questioned about spending . As you say none of us know the full story- yet.

I absolutely agree - if she was spending money she'd earned. But if someone else was paying for my designer dress habit, I would expect to have to justify what I was spending.

She might like to think she is an independent woman, but she is not supporting herself.

You're right though - I suppose in time we will all know the full story - or at least, which bits of gossip were true.

Which one of their speeches, if any, are an example of total embarrassment?

I don’t usually comment on their speeches because I haven’t watched many to know what they are like. There is only one recent speech off the top of my head I can think of them doing and the only publicity I read about that one was negative because it was about environmental issues and they travelled by private plane. I know some people feel all publicity is good publicity, but I disagree with that and don’t feel contradicting actions to what is said and what is done is beneficial to a speaking career in that area no matter how good the talk itself was.

A number of years ago I did hear Harry briefly speak live at an event and he wasn’t inspiring but I think a lot has changed in that time, it was a short duration so hard to captivate an audience, and the topic wasn’t of particular interest to me which can influence what I think of speakers.

I don't want to be preached at by those two. Private jet for them but save the planet for the rest. And as for equality and world poverty from those two. Give me a break.

I know that question wasn't directed at me thisenglishlife (as I haven't mentioned embarrassing speeches), however I find the plagiarism embarrassing. I'm a teacher so I accept that's probably a bigger issue for me than most.

Wearing a maternity coat at approximately 8 weeks pregnant to Eugenie's wedding was unforgivable. The following week M wore a body con dress with no hint of a bump.

I find it embarrassing to hear Meghan lecture about feminism and women’s empowerment when she is entirely bankrolled by her father in law.

And please don’t bring up her ‘personal fortune’ of $5m - she was earning $400k a year on suits, paying tax in two countries and living in a rented apartment. I’d be surprised if she had $500k in savings at the time she met Harry.

HMQ gave Meghan & Harry the opportunity to be private individuals when they married, and for Meghan to continue pursuing her ‘career’ but she declined in favour of an elevation of status on her gormless husbands coattails... hardly the actions of a feminist.

She has also mentioned her Procter & Gamble gambit in numerous speeches - completely misrepresenting the story to pretend a) that she was 11 at the time, rather than a teenager and b) that this was something she set out to do at her own initiative, rather than a school project that the rest of her class also participated in.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good anecdote.

I can see why reports that Meghan and Harry wanted to push the release date of Finding Freedom could be true considering the other books released. Even those interested are surely going to draw the line at buying so many, and the ones most likely to suffer will be the later books.

Nobody in Meghan’s position needed to wear a maternity coat in the first trimester. I can think of several occasions in Kate’s pregnancies that she wore normal coats where the buttons had been moved so she could fit into them comfortably which is something Meghan could easily have arranged if she wished.

I don’t think people do believe everything they read. Just like people don’t automatically refuse to believe anything that they read either.

It’s a fact that Meghan wore a maternity coat to Eugenie’s wedding and it’s a fact that she could not possibly have been far enough into her pregnancy to need to wear it, or from the pictures of her abdomen needed anything to accommodate a bump. What’s unknown is what everyone else though and I’d be surprised if Eugenie cared - it’s her wedding day, she remained the focal point and married a man she gives every indication of loving whilst looking as though she had a wonderful time. Good for her.

It doesn’t matter if it’s MM or anyone - it’s rude to deliberately do something that will upstage the bride at a wedding - it’s one day - just let the bride have her day - don’t make it an opportunity to announce a pregnancy, get engaged at the reception or anything else like that.

Especially since people who do this are generally the ones that would be most upset if someone did that are their wedding...
