Lol @Roussette. How open minded of you.

Viviennemary · 25/06/2020 16:39

Thanks nivea. Didn't realise but I'm not very tech savvy. It would be a lot cheaper.

Institutkarite · 25/06/2020 16:43

I'm up to 45% of Lady Colin Campbell's book. It's not a hatchet job, it's an Uzi 9mm job, like The Terminator. It's horrific and unbelievably cruel.

TheNavigator · 25/06/2020 16:46

Well, Lady C does come across as a horrific and unbelievably cruel person, so no surprises there then. But I am sure many posters on here will enjoy it - as long as everything is MM's fault.

Samcro · 25/06/2020 17:03

So is it a good fiction book?

ButteryPuffin · 25/06/2020 17:13

Ok, so those of you pre-emptively sneering at posters on the thread for the way you expect them to react to a book, you're the ones with the moral high ground, have I got that right? Modelling how we should all be treating others?

TheNavigator · 25/06/2020 17:20

Well, maybe all the posters will be thoroughly appalled by what sounds like Lady C's hatchet job and prove me wrong. That would be lovely.

Viviennemary · 25/06/2020 17:21

I will reserve judgement on the book until I have read it. That would be fair I think.

DontLookTwice · 25/06/2020 17:42

Well, I wasn't going to buy it, but I caved in and got it on my Kindle today. So far it seems fair to me. Overly wordy (three words I have never come across before, and I am an avid reader), a little bit pompous, but quite interesting. I think the presentation of Harry's character is enlightening. She's keeping the faux pas at Charles' 70th dangling like a carrot, and I haven't got to that bit yet. She's not a bad writer, just waffles on repeating the same points too many times and using 20 words when four would do.
I am not sure I agree at all about several things she's said about Diana which seem to be absolute nonsense.

Lynda07 · 25/06/2020 17:53

The book comes out at the end of next month and will be in charity shops when they re-open.

I see the Daily Mail are already slavering over it :-).

Quite honestly I doubt anyone will believe what that old witch (intriguing though she is) writes.

Roussette · 25/06/2020 17:53

cool
"How open minded of you"

Which bit? Saying about the reviews on Amazon that have nothing to do with me?
OR
saying that some people will lap it up and some won't?

Confused as to what you mean as I just stated facts

Lol

Viviennemary · 25/06/2020 17:55

You can always rely on the DM for a thoroughly biased view. Grin

Roussette · 25/06/2020 17:58

I have not sneered at anyone on here for reading it. Up to that individual!

All I said was... some people on this thread will lap it up, and some won't.

Not sure how that's taking the moral high ground?

p.s. I'm in the not lapping it up camp in case you didn't realise Grin

Nanasueathome · 25/06/2020 18:03

H&M have signed up with the Harry Walker agency (same as the Obamas) and are joining the public speaking circuit
Reports they can earn up to a million dollars a time

Cartesiandebt · 25/06/2020 18:13

Well, there are 11 reviews on Amazon now - 8 of whom have given it 5 stars, while the remaining 3 give it a disapproving 1 star. A bit like this thread, really.

calmcoolandcollected · 25/06/2020 18:16

@Roussette Lapping it up. You haven’t read the book. You don’t know if it’s accurate or not.

I assume it’s been vetted by solicitors for the publisher, so it cannot be without some foundation, or, if it isn’t, we will see a lawsuit.

BlueTreeBlue · 25/06/2020 18:16

@Institutkarite why is it a hatchet job? It is very complimentary to both of them. She has highlighted both their achievements and many positive things. Yes there are also less positive things.

calmcoolandcollected · 25/06/2020 18:18

@Nanasueathome, just like Fergie makes a million dollars?

Realistically, they cannot garner those fees unless they spill tea about the RF.

Samcro · 25/06/2020 18:18

I won't be wasting money on it.
I am sneering at people who want to read it, just hope they are not going to use it to back stuff up.

calmcoolandcollected · 25/06/2020 18:19

Another open mind.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 25/06/2020 18:26

To those people sneering. Why do you think you are better than everyone else. Why can’t people read whatever they choose and make their own minds up about the truth or otherwise. Sneer all you want. It just makes people more resolute in their decisions.

Samcro · 25/06/2020 18:26

@calmcoolandcollected

Another open mind.
Why? Because im not going to buy a book?
alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 25/06/2020 18:27

And that is the beauty of the free world. Nobody is forcing you to buy it or read it.

calmcoolandcollected · 25/06/2020 18:36

Samcro, No, because you’re passing judgment on others, about a book you haven’t read and have no intention of reading. For all you know, everything in that book is accurate.

You cannot have a judgment about a book you haven’t bothered reading.

calmcoolandcollected · 25/06/2020 18:37

I will add, or other people, for choosing to read said book.
