I assume Harry would obtain an immigrant visa as a spouse of a US citizen.

According to bits I've read on this, no one knows for sure what visa Harry has used to enter the USA. I believe if he plans to apply for a green card his spouse has to show she can support him financially. But he could be there on a number of different visas with different conditions - I am a long way from knowledgable on this, so would welcome posts from people who know the US visa system. All that affects how long he can stay and on what basis. I think if he's been granted diplomatic status that is indefinite and overrides everything, but that seems highly unlikely to me as Trump dislikes them and so I can't see him granting that. But all this will shape their future plans, and may also force him to depart the country at least briefly.

I can't see Harry staying permanently in the US. He'll be back sooner than we think.

Well this escalated quickly.

candilemon · 24/06/2020 00:37

It’s obvious why.

YouSayWhat · 24/06/2020 08:40

Why?

Viviennemary · 24/06/2020 09:35

What has Paul Burrell got to do with it. I didn't know he was still on the scene.

Samcro · 24/06/2020 09:44

i often wonder what W&H think of him.

I must have missed that. Paul Burrell probably has no pension and he has to live somehow I suppose. He is so out of favour he thinks he has nothing to lose. LCCs book out tomorrow I think. It's a bit pricey at £25.

Betrayal is a bit ironic. Compared to how Charles and Camilla behaved.

ButteryPuffin · 24/06/2020 10:35

Easier all round to take out your anger on the hired help, I imagine.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/06/2020 11:37

Paul Burrell probably has no pension

I wouldn't bet on it; considering Diana's box with the "George Smith" tapes and more was allegedly never found, and considering the access Burrell appears to have had, I'm sure he'd be okay for money if it came to a pinch

Thanks to those who provided the info about Harry reportedly being back, though on the subject of private jets having different rules it would hardly matter since scheduled flights have been arriving from LA throughout

Where has it been mentioned that PH may be back in the UK?

Viviennemary · 24/06/2020 12:29

Only a rumour I think started by some blogger type people.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/06/2020 12:35

Upthread somewhere - apparently a private jet flew in from LAX and it was rumoured he was on it

Viviennemary · 24/06/2020 12:56

Just Google it.

Cartesiandebt · 24/06/2020 13:24

Personally, I'd prefer it if they didn't come back. Ever since they released that pompous exit statement, with all the bits about them still being HRH and the Queen not having a monopoly on the word 'royal', almost everything they do irritates me.

I think they should stay in LA, it suits them better.

Inspiralcarpetry · 24/06/2020 14:21

True about LA suiting them better. They are possibly in that situation where staying pleases her and leaving might please him.
Who knows though? Maybe he is happy in LA, moving from property to property and doesn't mind not having a job, or family nearby. Just because he looks aimless to the world, he might be content with their choices?
My guess is no, they wanted the pomp and splendour but on their terms. Just that though, a guess, before any of the 'devoted defenders' leap down my throat.

Samcro · 24/06/2020 14:35

i wonder if its hard to give it up? if your used people bowing and calling you sir. you give it up and have to get used to just being "Harry"

Inspiralcarpetry · 24/06/2020 14:42

I bet it is hard to give up! Probably annoying at the time, all that deference, then a nice feeling to be 'free' of it, then maybe you start to miss it? It is his identity after all.
I always think of that anecdote about awful Andrew. Supposedly walked into a room, people didn't rise for him and now, so he said 'let's do that again, shall we?" Urgh if true!
In fairness to Harry and William, I can't imagine they are that priggish, but by being royal, have still lived a life of extreme privilege and deference.
