Harry is going to end up on Strictly or Dancing on Ice. I might be wrong though - he might do the jungle programme.

SunbathingDragon · 28/05/2020 10:51

@FrancisCrawford I was suggesting it more because we were at the start of a pandemic and it could have been that with a large group of people, who needed to fly together, at very short notice, there weren’t the seats available on a commercial plane. If you read many of my other posts, you’ll see I don’t in any way support H&M’s behaviour most of the time, but I did wonder if on this occasion a private plane was the only way to travel when they went right before the boarder was closed so there could have been an influx of travellers that day - of course, also it might have been nobody was flying and the commercial places were empty. Who knows.

7Worfs · 28/05/2020 11:07

Barley and Hamsterian totally agree with your posts.
They’ve peaked.

Winterlife · 28/05/2020 11:27

@SunBathingDragon, I doubt rather highly there was no room on planes, as there was still one daily flight to LA, and by the time H&M left Canada, most of those who were going to the US had left the country. There were flights to the US until April 26 on Canada's largest carrier, so lots of time to fly commercially. Flights on the second largest carrier were suspended March 22.

Winterlife · 28/05/2020 11:59

Oops -Three flights a day until April 1, when it dropped to one flight daily.

CoolCarrie · 28/05/2020 12:01

William has stole a march ahead of them both on with mental health programme he did recently.

Their security detail was British and Canadian. The RCMP didn’t travel with them. I don’t know about the Brits.

They had SO14 PP Officers from the Met Police, paid for by UK, as they are members of the royal family.

7Worfs · 28/05/2020 13:43

William is also leaps and bounds ahead of HAM on environmental issues. His new global awards he launched with David Attenborough.

Sittingontheveranda · 28/05/2020 14:00

Are you impying that posters on this thread are Daily Mail readers? hmm

I’d say the majority are Top Fans 😀

ButteryPuffin · 28/05/2020 14:22

Just reading back a bit and this quote from the Sussex website struck me:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to live a more independent life as a family, by removing the supposed ‘public interest’ justification for media intrusion into their lives.

They will find, though, that media intrusion continues on the grounds that there is a market for it. Hence all the paps gathering above Tyler Perry's mansion. If you want to earn money by being a public figure, as they do, you can't avoid it. They are going to end up as intruded on as ever, but worse, they will need to collude (collaborate?) in that themselves.

By the way, surely there will be an update to their 'spring transition' soon. May is arguably still spring, but June is definitely summer.

Rainbunny · 28/05/2020 14:34

Yeah, branding themselves will be tricky. It's the essentially hypocritcal nature of the fact that they want to be seen as royals (even through they cannot officially use royal titles) so they'll be playing up the royal status angle as much as they can get away with. At the same time, they quit the RF - or in their version they 'escaped' the RF because it was so awful, unfriendly, stifling etc.

They can't have it both ways, either the RF is this precious, ancient
high-status connection or it's this horrible mean family of people they had to flee from.

I can say one thing for sure, sadly it's more likely than not that we'll be losing Prince Philip or the Queen in the next few years. If Harry is still in LA selling himself to the highest bidder when that happens, he will not be judged kindly by the British public and I wonder how it will look in the USA, especially as seems neither the Queen or PP will get to se Archie much again in their lives.

WhatWouldDominicDo · 28/05/2020 15:22

thenightsky I doubt H as I call him would do the jungle - his complexion would suffer!

thenightsky · 28/05/2020 15:25

WhatWouldDominicDo I was thinking it might remind him of survival training in the army Grin

highmarkingsnowbile · 28/05/2020 15:55

Does he honestly think he is more important?

Yes, I think he seriously does.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 28/05/2020 16:02

Rainbunny I don’t think the British people are their target audience imo.

TangibleTuTu · 28/05/2020 17:07

I find it pretty entertaining that MNers want to say that M & H are has-beens when they breathlessly follow their every move, critiquing and dissecting them. The very fact they can take up so much oxygen shows they have an audience. They may be the new pantomime villains that everyone loves to hate but people are fascinated by their story. There aren't any other royals or even show biz couples that have frequent threads on MN anywhere close in number to this pair. And of course I know that nobody reads the DM either, Wink Grin

Sittingontheveranda · 28/05/2020 17:11

TangibleTuTu

Oh you are going to be in big trouble now. You must say they are unimportant beings that nobody has any time for and then don’t forget to come up with some ‘witty’ title for thread number 25890000

ButteryPuffin · 28/05/2020 17:24

Don't worry Tu, it's not as if MNers are a homogenous mass. Plenty of opinions to go round. Plus if they prove to be big LA successes they will cost us less!

TangibleTuTu · 28/05/2020 17:34

Yes, that was a broad brush, there will definitely be a range of opinions, but there is no doubt they are able to garner a great deal of attention and in a crowded PR universe that is so much of the battle. Plenty of people are clearly still interested in them. I think that's why so many are wound up by MM. She is not pretending that she isn't looking straight down into the lens of public voyeurism.

Hamsterian · 28/05/2020 17:46

I don’t think they are complete has beens yet, but has beens in the making 🤣
My interest is because I really used to like them in the beginning, especially Meghan. Now I still am interested in seeing where they are taking this because of all the big flounces and drama, statements that the Queen doesn’t own the world royal, touting for voice-over business, etc. Big plans for foundations which then don’t happen, forging progressive roles and all that jazz. I am fascinated by how deluded they are. But I think this will all stop once their plans are clear.

botanicalart · 28/05/2020 17:47

Everybody rubber necks at a traffic accident. This is how I watch these two feelin awfully bad for the opportunities they have thrown away and the people they hurt

DateLoaf · 28/05/2020 17:50

I wonder if they’ll end up just ‘being a couple‘ professionally, like reality tv people do, but with a blue-blooded socialite twist. I see Spencer off of Made in Chelsea (and lots of other reality shows plus previously working in some kind of finance) and Vogue Williams (model/socialite) are making it work off the back of being ‘royally connected‘ Grin www.thetimes.co.uk/article/spencer-matthews-and-vogue-williams-on-how-to-turn-your-marriage-into-a-brand-lx6hqpst8

It’s really hard (emotionally) the expat life, I hope that H&M do find something proper to get on with soon and don’t just drift about professionally reminiscing about their bad old royal days in the UK for much longer.

I know MM’s not an expat in LA, but LA just seems hopeless for Harry to succeed in, in a way that living in London and the countryside with the Soho farmhouse set around her with visits to LA had potential to be pretty good for Meghan. They must be kicking themselves that Meghan didn’t make a deal to keep working before they got married, they could have gotten closer to the ‘half in half out’ model that they seem to have wanted that way, and without all the ill-feeling.
