I remember the Nazi uniform story. H profusely apologised for his bad taste in what he thought was a joke. I am not making excuses for him, but everyone has to grow up sooner or later. The whole party seemed like in bad taste for rich aristos to be involved in, period. Native and Colonial? Really? It was reported that there were lots of blacked up faces. But H was the most famous, so we only heard about him. I remember reading the story from some publications where they sent a reporter to the costume shop where W had gone with a friend looking for a Zulu costume, it was not available, but he went for leopard skins akin to what the Zulu warriors wear. This was reported as him being a leopard (not sure if that is actually what he was portraying since it was a natives and colonist kind of party, not wildlife theme tbh to me it sounds like he was blackface of a Zulu warrior). Bad taste all round, but H had to take the grunt of the criticism as he always has.
When H was in the army my understanding was that everyone had a non-pc nickname. H himself had a derogatory name for ppl with red hair. It was my understanding that if there was a black person there they would have been called a ng , if someone was dyslexic, a rt *d, if they lost a limb a crp etc. All of them abhorrent, but maybe they should not have shared this info with the world. I remember seeing the friend called a pk * laughing it off. I don't recall him complaining because I thought everyone had an offensive name assigned to them.
H was around 20, yes an adult when these incidents happened. But I think he has learned go grow up now. What would be a major problem is for him to have remained the same. I think when Justin Tr made his apology about blacked face, a lot of ppl understood because since then his actions have shown he is grown from that backwards thinking. I don't think these ppl should still be hung down from their past missteps when they seem to be working hard to prove they are working hard to change.
My suspicions are that H as spent a lot of time with the likes of close friend Prince Seeiso, who may have taught him a different approach to what he is used to.
