A continuation for those who would like to look at the positive side of Harry and Meghan.

Winter

Got me there! You're so clever! CBA to dispute anything with you, it's tedious.
You dislike MM intensely and will spread the hate endlessly.
I don't feel the same.
That's the only fact that's true.
Are you enjoying our thread?

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:33

Because of a stupid mistake he made when he was younger? Go figure yourself for such a ridiculous assertion.

A series of “mistakes”. Not just the Nazi fancy address. What he called his army colleague was unforgivable.

Winterlife · 15/05/2020 08:33

Personally, I don't believe MM received any more UK tabloid criticism than did Kate, Fergie, Diana, or Camilla, in their respective days. I think eventually, it would have petered out, as it did with the others, even Fergie, who often does things that are open to criticism.

I believe the lawsuit was an error on the part of Harry (who I believe is driving it, rather than Meghan), and the move abroad has made Harry and particularly, Meghan, popular tabloid targets. If they ignore the tabloid press and just live their lives, new, more interesting targets will be found.

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:33

Not the behaviour of a "saint"

Not sure you understand what 'turn of phrase' means.

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:34

this is a positive thread. so maybe thats why people are being positive about them!!

So this relentless positivity has to be blindly maintained irrespective of what they do?

Winterlife · 15/05/2020 08:37

You dislike MM intensely and will spread the hate endlessly.

No, I don't dislike MM at all, let alone intensely. I don't even dislike people I know personally who are dishonest, or sexist, or condescending. Everyone has their own crosses to bear.

But, thanks for the "analysis". Perhaps you can give me a lesson on how to lose that last three kilos post menopause.

Samcro · 15/05/2020 08:38

there are other threads as you know.yet you come on this one and derail.
why? why not stick to the ones where people think like you do.

F0RESTGRUMP · 15/05/2020 08:39

Ooh she’s really made him over hasn’t she?? His hairs a completely different colour and texture!!

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:40

I don't come on your endless disliker threads and call you anything, so please do not come on here and say I am Pollyannaish.

I am fascinated that some of you - well, 2 or 3 of you, really - (who I have seen around MN for years and always thought sensible and balanced) are so determined to split all commentary on the Sussexes into “pro”& “anti”, “positive” vs “haters”.

An unusual chain of events is in progress, interesting marketing and PR decisions are being made, family relationships seem strained. It’s an interesting spectacle (especially for someone like me who doesn’t follow soap operas).

However, if isn’t a baseball or soccer match. Why do we all need to pick a side and stay there? Why can’t we acknowledge shades of grey? Why are you so militant about it all?

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:40

So this relentless positivity has to be blindly maintained irrespective of what they do?

So I could come on the nasty threads and ask if relentless negativity has to be blindly maintained irrespective of what they do?

I say that, because I had a look. Number 24 or thereabouts isn't it? And it's horrible. Every single aspect of their life is picked over. Every single aspect of their marriage is dissected. The only thing that would make anyone happy on there is if they split up.

This thread is the antidote to the hate.To look at the positive. And yet you all pile on here to dispute every single thing we say. I can only image you want to derail and shut down this thread. There can't be any other reason. And I agree with a PP. It's sport because you're bored or something

Cerseirys · 15/05/2020 08:41

Perhaps you can give me a lesson on how to lose that last three kilos post menopause.

My Fitness Pal and Jillian Michaels' workout app? I've found MFP invaluable, and if I put on a few pounds then logging what I eat it always helps me shed the weight.

Winterlife · 15/05/2020 08:42

I already work out, and eat a mostly vegetable diet. Hasn't worked yet. But, thank you.

Winterlife · 15/05/2020 08:43

And yet you all pile on here to dispute every single thing we say.

Er, ah, no. I don't dispute "every single thing" posted.

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:44

there are other threads as you know.yet you come on this one and derail.

Well obviously because one post and the thread keeps popping up on TIO, and interesting, sometimes slightly barmy assertions appear on the TIO display, and it is intriguing.

why? why not stick to the ones where people think like you do.

I NEVER like to put myself in an echo chamber. Admittedly I’m feeling less positive about the Sussexes than I was at the time of their wedding, or at the time they left for Canada, but I can only opine on events.

Stop being so blooming bossy.

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:44

Why are you so militant about it all?

I could say exactly the same thing to you. I've been on your threads in the past. I've tried to discuss. The result of that was a poster endlessly telling everyone again and again an again to Scroll on By. To ignore us. Where's the shades of grey in that? And then there was SCOLD. That only stopped when MN intervened a number of times. Militant, us?

I totally agree with you. There are shades of grey. I don't agree with all they have done, with the way they handled some things.

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:45

I don't dispute "every single thing" posted

I mean 'you' collectively.

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:46

So I could come on the nasty threads and ask if relentless negativity has to be blindly maintained irrespective of what they do?

There AREN’T any “nasty threads” @Roussette - there are (apparently) uncritical fangirl threads and “critical thinking allowed” threads. Why are you so determined to enforce this weird dichotomy?

Cerseirys · 15/05/2020 08:47

Why do we all need to pick a side and stay there? Why can’t we acknowledge shades of grey?

Am happy to. I was equally happy to criticise Harry's behaviour in his youth and their private jet habit too. But I can't really get worked up about things they do that are pretty much the same as other royals, or Archie wearing a nappy and a vest in his birthday video etc.

Personally I'm a republican so I wouldn't mind if the whole lot of them buggered off!

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:49

I could say exactly the same thing to you. I've been on your threads in the past. I've tried to discuss. The result of that was a poster endlessly telling everyone again and again an again to Scroll on By.

I don’t think I was on any such thread. Do feel free to check.

Maybe stop lumping everyone together in categories?

I would actually prefer everyone interested in a given subject all discussing it civilly together.

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 08:50

Am happy to. I was equally happy to criticise Harry's behaviour in his youth and their private jet habit too. But I can't really get worked up about things they do that are pretty much the same as other royals, or Archie wearing a nappy and a vest in his birthday video etc.

Well then I am completely with you on all those points @Cerseirys and I’ve never said otherwise.

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:55

there are (apparently) uncritical fangirl threads and “critical thinking allowed” threads. Why are you so determined to enforce this weird dichotomy?

Because I've read the latest. It's so passive aggressive with the digs at MM and H.

There are some sane discussions and despite itching to say on here the awful stuff, I can't. They thrive on constant drama though. Apparently. And have nothing to say to each other. And as for poor Archie.

p.s. I do laugh at the term 'fangirl'. I think it needs to be rephrased 'fan old gimmer'
Grin

Roussette · 15/05/2020 08:58

Do feel free to check

I do apologise for lumping you all together. I'm sorry I am unable to check, it would take me hours to do as the threads number over 20, and my grouting needs cleaning Grin

ArriettyJones · 15/05/2020 09:00

Well cleaning your grouting might be more productive than enforcing this strange apartheid.

I absolutely reserve the right to form any opinion I like on whatever happens next without being tied to a “team”.

Roussette · 15/05/2020 09:06

I was trying to inject some humour into all of this. Miserable fail !

FromEden · 15/05/2020 09:07

Because of a stupid mistake he made when he was younger? Go figure yourself for such a ridiculous assertion

Lol. Have you ever made a similar "mistake"? I'm guessing you haven't. And it was "mistakes" plural. I'm around the same age as Harry and never have I dressed as a nazi or used racist terms like he did, on multiple occasions. I mean, he did those things as an adult. He knew what he was doing. But no, he's a saint now apparently.
