Tbh I was expecting a big reveal, like they’d been holding back something awful had happened. So.... this is all a bit of nothingness compared to what I’d assumed was coming out, thought this was going to end the monarchy, something big to bring down the royals and take their platform. Not great for their career prospects either really. Is there really no big reveal? How’d someone make a whole book out of this, is it a picture book?

Mummy195 · 27/07/2020 19:33
@Mummy195 how interesting that you ignore the tabloids when they discuss Harry and Meghan but consider them sacred sources when you want to smear William and his staff. Perhaps you should ask MNHQ to delete your comments about Prince William. I'm sure you can be positive about H&M without criticising William.
So, to get back to the 'positivity' ... do we think that Harry and Meghan will be given some of the profits of the Finding Freedom book? Do we think the 'authors' will donate some of the profits to charity since they said they were inspired by Harry and Meghan's charity work?
I am not smearing W and his staff. The lawsuit is not covered by the tabloids, it's covered by Byline and yes, I trust them to tell the truth, they always do.

Nothing smearing W here, it's a good question. Why would a man who is accused of leaking on your brother still be employed by you.

The authors of the book can do whatever they want, it's their money. What did Lady C, Levin etc. do with their money . Oh, I think Lady C wanted to fix her roof. Maybe these authors have been donating to charities all along, who knows, that is their business.

These are just the extracts. But then again it sounds like Omid' style of reporting. He has never been sensational, always polite and does not really go out like the tabloids do. So I am not surprised by this soft style of reporting.

However, the telltale signs are there. As I had put out in my previous post, about the courtier shenanigans etc. The press however, has decided not to shout out much about that part.

Book excerpts

Meghan supposedly shouting at Katrina McKeever: Even Kensington Palace didn’t understand the bizarre story. McKeever left on a good note with the Sussexes, who sent her a handwritten letter and huge floral arrangement when she left.

Tears at a bridesmaids fitting: There were reports that, before the wedding, Meghan had left Kate in tears following a bridesmaid fitting for Princess Charlotte. “Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional,” a source said. There were reports that claimed Meghan’s “strict demands” caused Kate to cry. A source, who was at the mid-May wedding fitting and has never discussed before what really happened, said stories about tears have been “puzzling” to those who were present. “Some of the children weren’t co-operating, and there was a lot going on. Everyone tried to help where they could, but it’s never easy with kids at fittings. There were no tears from anyone. And in the end, the fitting was fine. Kate and Meghan were both a little stressed but professionals in the room, and there were other people there.”

Why weren’t false stories shut down: Those close to Meghan questioned whether someone from the palace or a former employee could have been behind the story, and wondered aloud why aides refused to set the record straight there and then. “There are people, whether they work with the family or are members of the family, that know that a lot of this stuff isn’t true, and aren’t allowed to say anything, like that ridiculous story about Meg and Catherine and the bridesmaids’ dresses,” a trusted confidant said. “That story was ridiculous and so false.” Several aides across the royal households now confirm that there was no fitting that left the Duchess of Cambridge in tears.

The leaks: It could hardly have come as a surprise that leaks were happening. One courtier privately bragged to friends about their ability to place a story, positive or negative, in any publication with a click of their fingers.

Invite: Among all the friends and family Harry and Meghan hosted at their house in Oxfordshire between May 2018 and March 2019, the Cambridges failed to visit. “The invite was there,” a source said.

Scented wedding: Meghan got “discreet... (Dipytique) air diffusers for the Chapel...” and it was approved of by everyone at the palace. Just as Kate asked for Diptique scented products at Westminster Abbey.

So there’s f all to report then? None of them add any value, it’s all about naff petty stories in the daily fail? We don’t have a royal family for any good reason and H&M left for no good reason, they’re all crap! This is petty AF. I hope all their paid PR charge by the word count cos this is the most work I’ve seen around the royals and ex royals and it’s all boring as hell. Who cares about any of this during a pandemic, hilariously bad all round

Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2020 19:53

Its basically like hearing about a shitty little dramatic internship... it’s like a bad episode of the apprentice. This is what public money goes on? Jeez louise what on Earth. They should all get real jobs, it’s like a parody of posh eastenders and it’s all meaningless. Thought this would actually be some news but hey ho

Serenster · 27/07/2020 19:57

This is one of the extracts that genuinely makes me ponder their propensity to look for offence. Louis was born in late April 2018. The Cambridges had 3 children under 5 when he was born. Who would realistically be annoyed if family in that position did not come and spend a weekend with you?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/07/2020 20:00

I trust them (Byline) tell the truth, they always do

Would that be the Byline who were found guilty of defaming Dennis Rice and ordered to pay him £2,500 in damages?

The one run by Peter Jukes, who describes his own CV as "probably my first great work of fiction"?

MissEliza · 27/07/2020 20:31

The invite was there. To me that sounds like 'you must come and see us' rather than 'are you free on July 20th?'

Notmyrealname855 · 27/07/2020 20:38

These are seriously the big claims? This is it???!

Really mean it when I say, episodes of The Apprentice have had more material than this. Big thumbs down from me tbh, thought it’d have some juicy bits or literally anything of interest...yawn fest from the poshos

AnneOfQueenSables · 27/07/2020 21:00

You trust Byline because it suits your agenda @Mummy195 Even the Finding Freedom authors used two verified sources... and that's less than any respectable investigative journalist would use. It's disappointing that the only way you feel able to have a positive thread about H&M is to try to criticise others. There's no need. Perhaps someone will start a truly positive thread without trying to point score against other members of the RF.

Small little petty lies that are pile on top of each other, so first the public gets a 'niggling feeling'. They then say, what a pertulant pair, then it goes on and on and the public dislike them. That is how smearing works.

OP posts:
Mummy195 · 27/07/2020 21:11

Byline did not lie. They did end up addressing the questions on twitter because they were being given the run around into their investigation.

Kind of drowns out the petty British Press.

Interesting @Mummy195, as the Press Gazette reports that the press regulator found they did:

The panel agreed that tweet number two was not true and did cause serious harm to Rice’s reputation.

The discussions on this section of the boards would be a lot better if posters would stop insisting that particular media organisations are either angels or devils. Every single news organisation has an agenda and presents its news accordingly. Every single one. Which is why it pays to read widely as well as critically.

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 27/07/2020 21:37

Some of these posts are like Jackanory.
I'm really confused now. I thought Scobie and his co-author (don't know her name) were big supporters of HaM yet everything is a lie? All the stories reported in the excerpts confirm stories that have been in the national press for the past 2 years. All of them have been discussed on these threads and have now been confirmed by Scobie in his book. Yet they are all lies?
Do you seriously expect people to believe M's friends didn't leak these stories? Dearie me.

Mummy195 · 27/07/2020 21:40

We have set out examples over and over again on this thread that tabloids print lies, that is why most ppl on here do not even link them.

You just have to go back to previous posts, we gave examples.

But Scobie has confirmed all his stories with two sources. Are you still saying these are lies?

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 27/07/2020 21:48

You've just discounted all the stories about HaM's behaviour as lies but Scobie has confirmed them.

@thisenglishlife

This is a very comprehensive list of what is not being discussed by the media regarding this book.
It does seem they have cherry picked a few stories to discuss so they can go on about, we already knew and reported on this.
Infact most of what you have quoted was either not reported or we were told totally different stories.

Agree. My family's mantra was 'No book is out of bounds. Read everything you can get your hands on'. It works.
