A continuation for those who would like to look at the positive side of Harry and Meghan.

@Mummy195 no, you are the one with the flair for dramatics, saying people would be happy if Meghan died. How could you even think that, let alone say it? That people would be happy if she died? It is a horrendous thing for someone to say. A thousand times worse than has been said by anyone on these threads. It’s clear you have a “them and us” mentality but you really take it to a weird level.

I wouldn't go that far but if they ever announce that they are separating then there will be thread after thread on here, full of gleeful posters falling over each other to say "I told you so".

Yes Hamsterian, it's confusing that the reports of William and Harry being back in touch (as reported by the press) is accepted without question. But the press only tell lies about them?

@ Cerseirys
So true, I really hope they stay together. If they don't the glee will be awful.

Of course the press don't only tell lies about them. They only do that when it suits them, when things are quiet, and for clickbait.

So how do you know what to believe? What's true and what isn't?

If they split up, well they split up. None of us are inside their relationship.

Lordy, I have been totally surprised by friends who have separated.

I think the danger is in blindly taking any celebs/royals to be fantastic and worshipping them.

I don't get the hero worship for any of them to be fair. They are all extremely privileged by virtue of birth or marriage - neither of which is fair or worthy of respect.

We don't always know. But we can spot biaised untruths a mile off.

Much as I am loathe to compare Meghan and Kate in any way as I feel it totally plays into the hands of the crazy fans. I think people forget that Kate had topless photos of her published whilst she was on a tour and had to face the world's press the day after. That was brutal.

mrscampbellblackagain · 13/05/2020 20:15

And she handled it way better than William did. Although I get why he was so pissed off. Same reason as harry is protective of Meghan.

PerfPower · 13/05/2020 20:19

I'm not sure why Kate is always brought in to compare, because there is no comparison; one tolerates the cameras and one courts them. What's Kate got to do with what you choose to believe about H and M?

I follow various journalists on twitter and one was reporting how many death threats he and his family had received from crazy stans on twitter. It was eye opening!

Hamsterian ppl have actually said that on SM. So your faux appalled is not gonna work here.

mscampbell have you actually gone around the negative threads asking about the blinding hate, oh sorry criticism?

No one is worshipping anyone here, but we can see through the media BS, and think the other side should also be presented.

mamamia never reported anything as fact. she referred to a news piece. Did all these ppl asking about facts, actually ask about facts on the negative threads?

This sounds very much like the H&M criticism. Let everything pass with everyone else, while anything to do with H&M has to be nitpicked on even the things that others are doing.

I have read plenty of threads on H&M. I don't think any of the RF are worthy of unquestioning worship.

Ok, How on earth does MM court the cameras? I'll take that as a genuine question. I've seen a couple of videos, one of her moving her mum out of the way so that the camera can have a clearer view of her as she waves and smiles. Another when she steps out to the side when walking behind Camilla as Camilla was between her and the cameras (she then smiles and looks directly at the camera). Another of her in conversation and while the other person is talking to her she turns away, towards the cameras and smiles. I've never seen other royals do that.

For one example, staging a photo opportunity on that walk with the dogs in Canada.

I don't worship the royals and would not call myself a fan of H&M?
I like them, i have no reason not to. I think the way people are talking about them online, is on par with bullying. As i have said before i have been shocked that a parenting site allows it to stand.
The comparison between K&M is in my mind more to do with the fact that W&K do exacly the same as H&M?
K&M will be appauded and H&M will be slated.
You can like some one and not always like their actions.
I do love the way people always want to derail these threads. Weird

Perf your post of, according to you, how M courts the cameras, to be honest makes you sound a bit bonkers.
She takes a step to the left, she smiles at the cameras, she moves her Mum out the way... what twaddle.

For one example, staging a photo opportunity on that walk with the dogs in Canada
Ye gods, not this again.

Yes yes yes. I have posts in my inbox that I reported that were absolutely shocking. And it took me and others reporting such posts to stop them. MNHQ have a blank spot as far as H&M. Don't understand it, never will.
Posts about Katie Price and Victoria Beckham are zapped way before they get to the stuff written about H&M

Fan girling lol.
I read and re-read your post about her smiling and stepping to one side and just could not find anything awful about what she did.
Personally, I like her and Kate and any Royal smiling for the cameras.

Perf - Meghan Markle is used to being in front of a camera. A body language expert has said that Megan's "camera courting" shows a desire to communicate openly and confidently. Kate on the other hand rarely looks directly in to a camera but has a more passive approach. So two completely different approaches, but nothing wrong with either of them.

Anyway, to go on about the British Media, I would like to point out the following :

  • H&M are unlikely to bother with weekly gossip mags as they are known to be rubbish, put aside as such.

  • In the US, the print media is also regulated by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). A bit like Ofcom here in the UK (except Ofcom does not regulate papers, only the broadcast media like TV, radio etc.)

  • In the UK, papers self regulate in the form of IPSO ( there are a few papers who chose not to fall under IPSO).

What does self regulations mean anyway? My left hand writes something naughty and my right hand gives it a little slap? It sure looks like that is the case with IPSO.
I listened on ITV as the Head of IPSO called the letter from MM to the 4 tabloids censoring, well a Head of journalism does not even know what the definition of the word means. I also remember him asked about the false news and he said, well they got their apology.

Please do read this particular link on how IPSO operates.
www.byline.com/column/68/article/2513

^Consider what this means. For the Sun there is almost no downside to publishing on its front page a story which it has been told is false and which it has no means of justifying. All it has to do to satisfy IPSO is to mention the denial low down on an inside page and – some time later – offer a one-paragraph correction at the bottom of page two.
Now ask yourself this. How many times has the Sun done this? Since it has every interest in putting sensational fictions on its front page and since there is nothing to stop it, we may assume that the answer is many times. And the same applies to all its principal rivals. None of them is accountable to the people they write about.
Finally, consider this. If they are doing this to a popular royal couple who have media teams and lawyers at their beck and call, what are they doing to ordinary people who cross their path? What are they doing to innocent victims of tragedy, to young sports people and others who suddenly find themselves famous, to friends and relatives of the well-known? They trample over their lives too. And yours may be next. We need Leveson 2^

Within that article is a link to the story of the everyday woman I mentioned who was dragged over a false story from the rags that ruined her life.
