its quite obvious some posters are coming on here to derail. have a look at other thread.
sad really.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 10:15

I thought this was interesting and sounds like a good move.

Cue 'poor homesick Harry is scrounging around for work in LA' Grin

Both the Endeavour Fund and Invictus Games seem very positive about the merge

thisenglishlife · 02/06/2020 10:52

It makes sense to merge both projects.

We've made some deletions on this thread. Please bear in mind the Talk guidelines when posting. Hopefully things can get back on track now.

A great tweet from the Queens Commonwealth Trust (H&M) re Black Lives matter

chrisseldah1 · 02/06/2020 14:50

Indeed great tweet @ Roussette. The way George Floyd died is really heartbreaking.

Good news about the merging of Invictus & the endeavour Fund. I think the two causes complement each other well.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 14:52

Yes, and the Commonwealth Trust carries some weight. I liked the link to MLK's words.

chrisseldah1 · 02/06/2020 14:58

It has been really great to see the support from all walks of life. Hopefully change will come but I’m not very hopeful as the struggle has been ongoing especially in the US and to an extent the U.K. for a very long time. It’s good though that conversations are happening again. Just a pity it took another cruel death of a black man for it to happen.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 15:00

Exactly. I think the US are on the edge of a precipice at the moment.

Samcro · 02/06/2020 15:09

its beyond awful.

thisenglishlife · 02/06/2020 15:28

This is the most visible the BLM has ever been and hopefully it is too big to be ignored now.

Becles · 02/06/2020 15:54

If we think about the UK though, there's an element of denying racism exists, or because it's framed differently than the USA we can brush over it.

Most poc I speak to about the royal family compare MM v KM coverage, let alone prince Andrew v MM as a sign of the country's underlying discomfort with a black woman in the heart of the establishment.

Absolutely 100% this.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 16:27

Totally agree. It's well hidden at times, but it's there.

chrisseldah1 · 02/06/2020 18:46

Oh I absolutely agree. It’s sometimes very refreshing to talk about race to friends & family even strangers who live in the US compared to the U.K.
Its amazing really that’s MM never gets the benefit of doubt; I just read a totally bonkers article somehow connecting her to the W& K tattler piece😂.

Even with everything happening in the world and the US burning now the U.K. tabloids are still trashing the biracial member of the RF who doesn’t even live here anymore.

chrisseldah1 · 02/06/2020 18:51

Oh and if you dare point the treatment she got/still gets you are often labeled as virtue signaling & woke🤷‍♀️.
I keep saying it and I will say again that I hope M never ever comes back to be the punching bag again. She is not perfect like the rest of us, but no human being needs to be dissected, criticised constantly like this. Especially when she is not even visible right now. It gets a bit cruel sometimes really.

Samcro · 02/06/2020 19:07

The thing is I think some people don't even think of her as a real person.
They seem to think she is a soap opera character.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 19:14

Yes, I agree. She stands for something they don't like but can't explain because even when she's not doing anything, there's criticism.

Even if they literally disappeared from everywhere, there would still be papers and people regurgitating stuff from the past. I find it odd.

chrisseldah1 · 02/06/2020 21:27

It’s a shame really that Meghan can’t catch a break. I like both her & Kate so it’s often disheartening to see everything being thrown under the sun to criticise M but at the same time going out of their way to praise Kate. I doubt Kate really likes being pitted against Meghan. I should be surprised that the article was about Katherine but somehow it has descended to being about Meghan somehow, sadly I’m not surprised.

When the Tatler piece blew up I read Richard Kay & Jan Moir’s articles on the issue And it was fascinating to see how they went out of their way to defend Kate, but then the undertone I got was Meghan was still a horrible person for reportedly breaking protocol over tights on her wedding.

It’s good that they left as having to deal with this kind of onslaught must have been hurtful and exhausting.

Roussette · 03/06/2020 08:27

I agree. I like them both but it's a shame that there is nothing that MM can do in the world that would be OK as far as entrenched press and other people are concerned.

So now it's confirmed that Andrew is retiring from public life for good, and he's even given up all his charity commitments, will he have to pay back all the renovations on Royal Lodge, and pay rent on it, and what about paying for security for him?

That's an interesting thought isn't it, after all... what's good for one should be good for another shouldn't it?

Samcro · 03/06/2020 09:40

i doubt it, and I doubt if there will be an outcry about it.
odd that he seems to be left alone. yet Meghan is ripped apart.

((bit thrilled today to see I have been slated on another forum))

chrisseldah1 · 03/06/2020 10:24

I doubt Andrew will have a hard time with the press. People are more invested in slating Meghan. The privilege Andrew has protects him from being constantly dragged like HaM.

Which forum is that @Samcro?. Pity the Internet can be a very dark place, hope you are okay.

Samcro · 03/06/2020 10:53

@chrisseldah1 sorry can't say. I found it funny.

its odd isn't it that masses of bad stuff about M, and barely any about PA, yet really what has she done that is so bad compared to him.

Roussette · 03/06/2020 11:59

yet really what has she done that is so bad compared to him

Exactly. And very apt for me at the moment as I am halfway through watching 'Filthy Money' on Netflix. It's the Epstein story, but focussing on the victims and not so much on him. To say it is absolutely shocking is an understatement. So far it has touched on PA a few times, and my opinion of him has sunk even lower.

Samcro · 03/06/2020 13:06

Strange people seem more interested in what K and M fell out about.
Not PA and his links to an abuser.
I think it highlights how silly a lot of things said about M are.
Falling out over tights!,,!!
