Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

There was also a cover story about KM where they'd photoshopped her teeth to be all yellow and crooked it reminded me of The Simpsons Episode where Lisa needs braces and the dentist shows her the book of British smiles.

Hamsterian · 27/04/2020 21:17

Omg she’s roped in a friend again to go and cry to the newspapers. What a childish and ridiculous woman.
Kate did absolutely not get a free pass from the press. The only difference is their courtship was well longer so in the latest times of course it has calmed down. No point in comparing those articles about the bump cradling; Meghan did it all the time in her one pregnancy, and there might be one or two pictures of Kate in her three pregnancies. That is why one is endearing and the other one is fake. There are lots and lots of situations in which Kate has been criticised and hassled and Meghan hasn’t.

Have none of you learnt anything from the Caroline Flack suicide?

Shame on you.

FannyCann · 27/04/2020 21:23

I thought Hilary Mantel's dismissal of the DoC was rather unkind.

"The award-winning novelist Hilary Mantel has sparked a row with a description of the Duchess of Cambridge as a "shop-window mannequin" with no personality whose only purpose is to breed."

Winterlife · 27/04/2020 21:24

Don’t have your “friends” speak to the tabloids, and stories disappear. Or, do what American A-listers did during the National Enquirer’s heyday (its circulation was larger than the DM). Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Funny how that works, huh?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 27/04/2020 21:32

#bekind doesnt appear to apply to the very elderly relatives of Harry though does it ?

Your grandfather is almost 100, your grandmother 94, your father 70ish.

You and your new bride (both of you pushing 40) have a megatantrum and cause immense harm and probably upset and confusion to said older relatives.

But its OK because your "friends" say everyone was nasty to you.

Give me a fucking break!

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 21:33

A-list Hollywood celebs don't feel the need at this moment to contact th press via "a friend" . There is a deafening silence from Hollywood Royalty.
What H&M are doing is so low rent. They really need to zip it for a few months or they'll be just like any other Heat magazine zlebs.

MrsJakeLovell · 27/04/2020 21:42

And the launch of Just Harry's Head Fit initiative today:

I love the comment at about 2 minutes 50 where he says about training the mind and body as one. 'I know this to be true....it works for me'...

OVienna · 27/04/2020 21:45

fanny I agree - ridiculous and totally unnecessary comment on Kate by Hilary Mantel.

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 21:51

Lots of inflammatory things have been written about Kate in the press, usually by someone hoping for media attention in order to publicise their book etc.
It's cheap publicity.

StartupRepair · 27/04/2020 21:56

I can't see any good coming from this book venture.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/04/2020 21:59

Let’s not forget how Camilla was treated as well (understandable given the devastation the affair caused to Diana) but she kept her head down and just got on with it, no bleating about how badly she was being treated by the press.

Ritascornershop · 27/04/2020 22:44

If she did authorize her friends speaking to the media in today’s DM, and she did say those things, then it seems pretty evident she’s been winding him up (perhaps he didn’t need too much encouragement, but still).

I don’t understand why they let it bother them? It’s not written by, or believed by, people who know and love them, so why does it matter if anyone says she touched her bump too much? I find her ott, but who cares? She doesn’t know me, so I don’t get why they’re both so sensitive to the opinions of people they don’t know.

And did no-one prep her about how royal women are generally pilloried till the press bores of it. No-one could say Fergie, Kate, or Camilla had an easy time of it. A divorced American actress was hardly going to get a pass.

Foxglade · 27/04/2020 22:45

Hmm that DM article says she’s 37. But she’s 39 in August!

peppermintcapsules · 27/04/2020 22:57

Have none of you learnt anything from the Caroline Flack suicide?

People who had nothing to do with her death are supposed to feel shame about it Hmm? No one knows what directly caused that woman to end her life, it hasn't been disclosed, if in fact she left a note indicating so, so why on Earth should anyone feel shame over it? FFS. Nope.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 23:04

Rita
They care because Harry is very upset with the press. He definitely has an axe to grind and a point to prove. Meghan only expects adulation, which she didn’t get. Thus has manipulated Harry and used his axe as a way of exiting the RF.

Someone way upthread said that they read she thought she would be the same level as Kate and was very unhappy on learning she would defer to her. The moment Meghan realised she has a place and the place was not centre stage princess, I think she will have been planning her escape.

Erictheavocado · 27/04/2020 23:09

How sad. It seems that H&M are really looking for problems where none need exist. There does seem to be a definite resentment towards Kate and it does appear that M knows exactly what buttons to push in order to wind H up. It must be awful to be so bitter about something that you would set out to isolate yourself and your partner from both your families.

peppermintcapsules · 27/04/2020 23:14

It must be awful to be so bitter about something that you would set out to isolate yourself and your partner from both your families.

It's not for the bitter person at all, they feel entirely justified in anything they do and don't care about the consequences. Such people tend to be very narcissistic.

LittleBearPad · 27/04/2020 23:24

It’s extraordinary how many of their friends can’t help but talk to the papers - especially when M&H only want privacy...........

Nikhedonia · 27/04/2020 23:30

Has KM had any stories sold by friends? I don't think she has...

LittleBearPad · 27/04/2020 23:31

I can’t remember any.

QueenofDestruction · 27/04/2020 23:40

But isn't MM more of a Fergie than a Diana press wise......

Nikhedonia · 27/04/2020 23:44

Hmm, one would wonder if that's because she hasn't planted them or if she has more loyal friends...

MissHoskins · 27/04/2020 23:48

Have none of you learnt anything from the Caroline Flack suicide
Yes, I learned that very unhappy people may do themselves harm. I also learned that sanctimonious self seeking moral warriors feel free to lecture others.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 27/04/2020 23:52

This seems apt.
