Harry and Meghan biography

Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

That is either a friend who thinks s/he's doing them a favour by repeating some well-rehearsed whingeing... or it's someone at the DM doing a sneaky reverse ferret by repeating old quotes now to make H&M look as if they're trying to play the victim card and feeding favourable stories to the tabloids while taking a principled stand against them.

But with the court case up and running I'm sure anything the DM is doing now is absolutely above board and watertight, legally speaking.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/04/2020 18:55

I wish the Royal family would tell them to bugger off and take legal steps to silence them for once and for all

I'm not sure if they can do that, any more than they could prevent "The Housekeeper's Diary" being published in the States?

It seems H&M are keen on handing out food parcels, but maybe they'd better not do it for the homeless living in underpasses ...

MissEliza · 27/04/2020 18:57

Has Harry forgotten that the British press chose not to publish the naked pictures from Las Vegas. I remember seeing him interviewed in Afghanistan and when the subject of the pictures came up, he didn't seem very repentant.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 19:03

If Kate was being criticised no one would put up with it.
She said no one took his pleas seriously, so they had to take the issue into their own hands.
This was about protecting the family and doing the right thing by Princess Diana.

And there we have it. This was Meghan’s out, possibly planned by her before the wedding. All she needed to do was cry, wail and feed his paranoia.

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 19:04

Meghan: when you're in a hole, STOP DIGGING!

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 19:06

The constant references to Princess Diana is so tawdry.

BlueChangling · 27/04/2020 19:10

Since they released there statement saying that they would no longer deal with the seven days ago how tabloids now many stories have been released? Three? The zoom call the announcement of the photo for Archies and now the dailymail article. Why not just be quiet for awhile, especially considering the pending court case.

FiveTwoFaster · 27/04/2020 19:11

Meghan just could have done some tiny little things to prevent criticism that she didn’t do til later and they gave the Mail et al, plenty of ammunition. Wearing a French label on her wedding day - I know the designer herself was British but on the day I was very surprised she didn’t choose some fabulous up and coming or well established British label to showcase.

It’s not important in the grand scheme of things but it was an error I think.

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 19:16

Meghan has no interest in promoting Britain. She's only interested in her audience in the US and herself.

peppermintcapsules · 27/04/2020 19:21

Spot on, Karon.

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 19:36

If any of this is true, I think the absolute worst part of it is the unforgivably calculated and cynical attempt to reference Diana in their motivations. It is a blatant attempt to hijack her popularity and guilt the British public who revered her (misguidedly, in my opinion, but still) into sympathising with their supposed plight.
Low blow.
Badly done.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/04/2020 19:38

If, and I emphasise the IF, MM really did invoke the name of his dead mother she is quite beneath contempt. I hope this is just an exaggeration on the part of her loose lipped friend. Because otherwise it is cynically manipulative of her husband's vulnerability.

And the eagle eyed might notice in that article "She said he wasn't going to let this destroy her life and their marriage". If that doesn't say trouble in Paradise I don't know what does.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/04/2020 19:39

X post, Angelina. Great mindsSmile

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 27/04/2020 19:44

I was think something so similar. It is funny how the DM could write in a way that is nicely written whilst painting a very unflattering narrative...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/04/2020 19:46

For all we know the Mail may have invented the whole thing - after all I don't think they can easily be forced to name "sources"?

Trouble is, the poor judgements which we do know about have become so extreme that almost anything seems possible now

Mamamia456 · 27/04/2020 20:30

How can you say Meghan hasn't been bullied by the press.

The Dail Mail 22nd March 2018
On Kate about her pregnancy:
Not long to go! Pregnant Kate tenderly cradles her baby bump while wrapping up her royal duties ahead of maternity leave.

Daily Mail 26th January 2019
On Meghan about her pregnancy:
Why can't Meghan Markle keep her hands off her bump? Experts tackle the question that has got the nation talking: is it pride, vanity, acting or a new age bonding technique.

Express 14th September 2017
Kate's morning sickness cure?
Prince William is gifted with an avocado for the pregnant princess.

Express 23rd January 2019
Meghan Markle's beloved avocado linked to human rights abuse and drought, millennial shame.

There are many more examples of newspaper articles where they have been fine with Kate doing something, but a few years later they have criticised Meghan for doing exactly the same.

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 20:36

Oh God no, not the pregnancy cradling again.
What about commenting on their current behaviour.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/04/2020 20:44

I'm not remotely interested in the same tired old comparisons between Kate and MM. The media gave Kate a hard time for years, the difference being that she didn't whinge about it. Try and find an example of MM being followed to work and hounded like Kate, you won't be able to.

She"s a grown woman who the media have decided rightly or wrongly that they don't like. Sooner or later they will either change their minds, or the evidence for them forming that view will out. Much as it did with Diana when she was the people's darling but the RF's nightmare.

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 20:47

I can't be bothered to go into all that nonsense again, but I will say that William being given an avocado is hardly his or Kate's fault!
And Kate may well have cradled her bump, as we all have probably done on occasion, but she was rarely seen doing it. You have to admit that Meghan was incessant. So what? It was just a bit over-the-top, that's all. If I'd have caught myself doing it in public, I would have stopped.

Nikhedonia · 27/04/2020 20:48

Oh the bump cradling and avocado comparison...

There's no denying the media have taken a disliking to MM, but KM suffered similarly at the beginning. She rode it out, learnt through rules and conformed.

I'm no KM fan, but at least she accepted what she was marrying into. MM apparently had a vision she was going to change the RF from within.

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 20:48

Much as it did with Diana when she was the people's darling but the RF's nightmare.
And the press (and general public) were definitely beginning to turn on her just before she died. There were many negative press stories about her coming out.

Winterlife · 27/04/2020 20:58

From memory only, I remember Kate being called inauthentic, plastic, docile, malleable, scheming, lazy, and spoiled. I remember her being criticized for smoking, partying, wearing short skirts, and “hunting” William.

To suggest KM was given a free pass by the tabloids is absolutely inaccurate.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 21:07

And Sophie and Fergus were deliberately set up in newspaper stings.

Nanalisa60 · 27/04/2020 21:08
