Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

That's what I was thinking Oldbutstillgotit - one of the reasons they have chosen an American publisher. I doubt we will see this on the bookshelves in the UK.

TimeLady · 27/04/2020 07:23

Who makes the money from a biography? Presumably the authors, not the subjects?

And who gets invited onto chat shows to discuss a biography - ditto?

For the subjects to make any money, surely it would have to be a ghosted autobiography?

Maybe MM is really Scobie's agent and is taking a hefty fee. Grin

FannyCann · 27/04/2020 07:24

There have been other times books banned in UK are published abroad. I seem to remember imported copies of "Spycatcher" were like gold dust and did wonders for the sales abroad. Of course that was before the internet and it was a rather interesting subject!

It’s the hypocrisy of the pair of them that irritates me most.

Save the planet everyone - h and m fly private jet.

Be kind everyone- h and m bugger off and do t even forewarn hrh the queen.

We want privacy everyone - stages photo op in Canadian park.

We hate reporters everyone and want privacy- we are going to write a book with a trashy magazine writer.

Big fat Biscuit for h and m!

TimeLady · 27/04/2020 07:43

I've got a copy of Spycatcher Grin

I do hope so. This is going to be some nasty, butt hurt, woke drivel and getting their side out there tell all.

Looks as if perhaps only the pro sleb glossy mags will cover it if excerpts are published. Hope so. Heat magazine, obviously. They are still publishing nauseating articles about H&M.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 08:10

They really are digging their holes with their diamond spades, aren’t they?

I know someone mentioned in Soycatcher! I am also in Christine Hamilton’s autobiography Blush

Nishky · 27/04/2020 08:12

I read the Andrew Morton book a few months ago, he has added a forward pointing out that while Diana was pouring out her hearth about Charles and Camilla, not once did she mention people with whom she had relationships

I am paraphrasing obviously but I thought from the tone of it he felt a bit used.

FannyCann · 27/04/2020 08:15

Ooh Arche hopefully not listed among grateful acknowledgements. WinkGrin

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 08:20

Hang on, it was going to be published last AUGUST??
So, it would have been pretty much finished and ready to go some time before that, before a delay was agreed in order to include their step-back from public life. So that means the step-back was planned WAY before we even thought, then?

Daffodil101 · 27/04/2020 08:24

I have the one published by Charles and Diana’s housekeeper and banned in the UK. It’s fascinating.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 08:24

Nisky
He was a decent writer, not dedicated sycophants.

And what I’d really like to know, is, do you have to have had cosmetic surgery or fillers to be qualified to write this book? Scobie is about 30 but looks like a teenager. Idk how old Durand is. Both of them have an odd look.

The pic of Durand I presume is her twitter profile pic. I haven’t tried to get a particularly unflattering one... the pic published in the dm was overdeveloped.

What's the housekeeper book called?

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 08:35

Daffodil

What is it called please? I would LOVE to read it if I can get hold of a copy somehow!

This is just a nonsense. To describe themselves as ‘modern’ Royals is obviously a dig at the rest of the RF being stuffy and old fashioned. They’ve been married less than two years.Their time as a modern Royal couple has been very limited. They’ve turned their back on the whole thing, yet they’re trying to make mega bucks out of a book about themselves. It’s absolutely pitiful.
It will be really sad if they are sued by Charles or HM. I also can’t see them ever being welcomed back , even to things like Trooping the Colour.
They will make themselves official Black Sheep for good. I think that’s what M wants. I think she wants them to be funded but not be expected to do anything for it, the threat of blabbing being the tool of blackmail. This book is probably a piece of self aggrandisement with a few sly digs. The threat of something worse will keep the shekels coming in.

It’s absolutely tragic.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 08:38

Not sure Fanny. I only remember my mother screaming that he’d been named as a spy rather than a nice old British diplomat.

Maybe H&M prepared the book then told the RF about its imminent publication. BP put its foot down and maybe that set the whole Megxit into motion.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 08:40

Isn’t that called Blackmail RoseandIris?

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 08:52

Yes, that's what I'm saying ArchePenguin. I think she's had it in her mind all along to use the system to her own advantage. She probably feels that Harry has been poorly treated, and that's her justification. She clearly feels that she has been poorly treated. Poor Archie is going to have to live with this toxic legacy when he gets older.

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 08:53

What an awful thing for the Queen to have to deal with all this unpleasantness in the last years of her reign.

TimeLady · 27/04/2020 09:01

What an awful thing for the Queen to have to deal with all this unpleasantness in the last years of her reign.

Exactly. My son is only six weeks older than Harry and I would be stringing him up if he treated his grandmother (who is 93) with such disrespect. And I certainly wouldn't be funding his lavish day to day living expenses either whilst he was lazing by the pool rolling around on the floor in LA.

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/04/2020 09:02

@ RosesandIris I agree about HM. I think that the RF have been tip toeing around H and M as they remember what happened with Diana when she and Charles divorced and they certainly don’t want another tragedy .
I do wonder what will happen when HM or PP pass away . I really cannot see M setting foot in the U.K. again.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 09:14

Apparently this photo was taken in April 2018. This is William (I had to look very closely!).

And it had all gone wrong by November, five months later. What happened?

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 09:25

That photo would have been approximately a month before the wedding. Nothing has been the same between “the fab 4” since the fall out just before the wedding... allegedly over Charlottes dress. A child, I should stress had only just turned 3! Bridezilla? Even if they’ve made up, it can’t ever be the same.

GlorianaCervixia · 27/04/2020 09:28

I wonder if all this moving to different countries and launching outraged attacks on the press is a way of distracting themselves from how little they have in common and the problems of rushing into marriage the way they did? They both seem so miserable. It can’t only be because the media sometimes says things they don’t like.
