Harry and Meghan biography

Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

It looks to me like he's behind her but they've both made that move forward at a similar time to cut in front. Even if Harry had already moved forward, though, as a pair they were clearly intent on getting into a particular place in the line ahead of the Wessexes. Anyone with any manners would have waited to file out of their seats in turn. The sense of where they are in the pecking order is evidently important to them, regardless of anything they say to the contrary.

Inspiralcarpetry · 27/04/2020 14:42

Tell you what, they'd be absolutely gold standard at Musical Chairs!
Also excellent at Grab the Tiara...
Like a RF Olympics...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/04/2020 14:50

I've got a copy of Spycatcher

The SIS will be with you shortly ... Wink

peppermintcapsules · 27/04/2020 15:21

I wonder if they are happy leaping from place to place always on someone else's dime.

They have a vast sense of entitlement so are probably completely unbothered about mooching off people.

Erictheavocado · 27/04/2020 15:27

@Lllot5

The picture is actually from the Anzac Day service in April 2018, so just a few weeks before the wedding.

wombandovaries · 27/04/2020 16:00

Thinking about this, I’m not sure the threat here is the current tell all on the RF, that’s a shot across the bows. God only knows what H has told her, what family scandal she’s now privy to...I’m wondering whether the real dynamite is being held back for the tell all once/ if they split. I’m betting that the Diana model M is following will culminate in her own biography in the aftermath of a split. I’m not sure H is willing at this point to betray the RF with a tell all.

LeaveItBarbara · 27/04/2020 16:24

I don't know if I'd read that much into the 'barging in front' dynamic; it looked to me as if Edward and Sophie were hanging back slightly to let Harry and Meghan go in front - there's definitely a gap that they move into.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/04/2020 16:25

How can they be referred to as "Thoroughly modern Royals"?

Never mind Royal, they aren't even "modern". What's modern about a practically middle aged woman clinging onto her husband's hand at work? I know I drone on about this but it is a particular bugbear of mine. But that's because I worked with my DH (same organisation, different disciplines) and we managed to keep our hands off each other whilst at work, so I know it can be done.

Re the Feud, I think it's between William and Harry, with the main grudge being on William's side. It may have started with a row over unwanted brotherly advice but it's escalated into much more than that. The greeting between them at the Commonwealth Day Service highlighted that William was much less willing to engage than Harry.

Kate is following William"s lead. There may be no feud between her and Meghan but there's no warmth either. She will behave impeccably whatever she's required to do, but it will be with her guard very much up.

Mariposa123 · 27/04/2020 16:37

@LeaveItBarbara yes that’s true, but if that’s the case then why the need to scuttle through the rows of chairs? Perhaps S&E had seen what was going on and held back to avoid any awkward moments. They seem to be the diplomatic ones

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/04/2020 16:49

I would have thought the order they left the church would be strictly decided beforehand, so that cars etc could be in the right position for a seamless exit. H&M would need to be in the position designated for them.

ChicCroissant · 27/04/2020 16:54

Well if the book was supposed to be about their life as Royals it would have to be very heavily edited, as I supposed the authors thought they would be in the role for a lot longer when they took the job on!

As a couple they've spent hardly any time in the Royal Family, let's be honest. Harry obviously has before the wedding, but Meghan has very little experience to draw on.

CallmeAngelina · 27/04/2020 17:16

Ages ago, long before any of this was being so widely reported on, there was a psychologist observing the "Fab 4" either arriving or leaving church. They were in a row with William and Harry on the outside, and Meghan and Kate in-between. Rumour at the time was that Meghan and Kate weren't close, but the psychologist's view was that the body language showed that the rift was very much between the "boys," not so much the women. That surprised me then, but now it all makes sense.

MissHoskins · 27/04/2020 17:57

The gloves are off now.

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 18:02

Blimey those accusations are wrong on so many levels.

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 18:02

It makes sense that M would have gone to live with T after the lottery win, but not sure when the win happened? He said that he and M went to choose somewhere to live together in the interview broadcast earlier this year. He paid for lots of things when she was a teenager so that would add up. Doria went bankrupt at one point, so it may be M decided her father was the better bet.

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 18:09

Kate had a pretty rough ride with the press for some time, not as bad as Meghan, but actually the public response to M was wholly positive for some time. It only deteriorated when the public started to feel uneasy .

ajandjjmum · 27/04/2020 18:10

The press were vile to Kate for a number of years.

Insofar as the Palace backing her and not Meghan - they clearly got it right. Who the hell does she thing she is - marches in for five minutes and then tells everyone how they should start doing everything.

If that is how she behaved with staff, no wonder they kept leaving.

HarryDaylight · 27/04/2020 18:12

Harry needs to remind Meghan that her "friend" is not supposed to be supplying the Daily Mail with Meghan's latest thoughts on the Royal Family.

Justmuddlingalong · 27/04/2020 18:12

I think she sees herself as having married the monkey and not the organ grinder. She doesn't seem to cope with not being the head honcho. And given her LA lifestyle aspirations, she will realise quickly that she's a small fish in a very large pond. Not a recipe for a happy, contented life.

MissHoskins · 27/04/2020 18:16

Harry Daylight
The accusations may be wrong but that will be her narrative. Poor hard done by Harry and obviously dragging his mother in helps Meghan's cause. Strange how a press ban on this publication was announced but those naughty insiders are telling tales.

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/04/2020 18:17

Good grief , has Harry forgotten how awful the Press were to Kate ? I remember seeing her being chased down a street around her 25th birthday as there was a rumour an engagement was to be announced . I remember her being called Waity Katie. I remember family ( especially her mother ) being mocked for having been Cabin Crew etc etc.

TimeLady · 27/04/2020 18:17

Maybe she's doing a Coleen Rooney with her 'friends'? Wink

KaronAVyrus · 27/04/2020 18:20

Good grief , has Harry forgotten how awful the Press were to Kate

I strongly suspect that Harry has spent his entire adult life with his head up his arse and that he’s the only person on the entire planet with any real problems.

Winterlife · 27/04/2020 18:25

Blimey those accusations are wrong on so many levels.

Yes, they are.

I remember Kate being followed and photographed everywhere she went, before she and William married. I also remember the DM printing a story (again before marriage) about how HMQ criticized Kate for being work shy. Those stories also followed after marriage.

Kate's parents business and their lives were also torn apart, and naturally, her mother (rather than her father) was criticized as being a horrid person to work for.

I don't recall MM being criticized by the press for rubbing her belly, but that was often in the comments section.

I wonder how these geniuses believed the press would be reined in. Lots of stories about Harry's alleged drug use (pre army) have not been reported.
