Harry and Meghan biography

Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

I heard an interview with Emily Andrews, who writes for one of the tabloids (The Sun). The interview was before H&M's return to the UK in March, when they were in Canada. She said at that time that their desire was always to be in the UK, and her sources said they were in Canada because they were "offered a free mansion" there.

She also said she'd been told by an insider that there was a rift between William and Harry, centred mostly around William (who is more cautious) advising Harry to take things more slowly. She said there was no rift between Kate and Meghan. I suspect that information is accurate, as it's been widely reported, but there may be other things behind it, given family dynamics. Of course, if MM heard that, and depending on how it was presented ("William doesn't want me to marry you" as opposed to "William is cautious by nature and said I should wait a year before marrying."), that likely would colour MM's feelings toward William as well.

I wonder if all this moving to different countries and launching outraged attacks on the press is a way of distracting themselves from how little they have in common

I tend to believe it's a way to keep their names in the press. They may also believe people won't believe what the tabloids print. Either way, it's not a good strategy to go to war with the press.

I always interpreted the falling out over Charlotte’s dress to be along the lines of Charlotte perhaps throwing some sort of 3 yo tantrum and Meghan asking Kate to control her child as it was disrupting the fitting.

Meghan is direct to the point of rudeness to English sensibilities. This was apparent at the “fab 4 conference” when she jumped in after William expressed a viewpoint with a blunt “I fundamentally disagree with that” before going on to explain why her viewpoint was better.

I remember being a bit Hmm but gave her the benefit of the doubt as I’ve noticed a lot of Americans debate in a similarly aggressive or forthright way depending on the way you interpret it.

I don't remember that bit in the interview, I do remember there being an awkward moment when they were asked whether they ever argued (or words similar)

I think the RF are going to have to cut them off completely at some point if they continue like this. If they are, in essence, blackmailing them then the only option is to call the bluff and deal with it in public. Otherwise it will be 30 years of misery with the RF living in low level fear

MissEliza · 27/04/2020 11:13

Oh god that fab 4 press conference was cringeworthy. M had verbal diarrhoea and dominated the whole thing, leaving William looking bemused. The concept of them having the same foundation was ill advised because William is the future king and therefore not on the same level. It was bound to fail.

Pseudosudocrem · 27/04/2020 11:15

Children are quite apt to see through all the adult bullshit and to say so out loud.. I wonder if perhaps Charlotte said something terribly perceptive about Meghan at the fitting and it caused a huge ruckus. Go Charlotte if she did.

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 11:36

I thought the way M behaved at the fab 4 thing was really out of line. She wasn't even married by that point and she just took over, expressing her own opinions forcefully . She just got the whole thing wrong in my opinion. Much like the engagement interview where she absolutely dominated. Harry sat there looking vaguely uncomfortable as she just took the stand. Inappropriate.

ArchePenguin · 27/04/2020 11:38

Or “my Dad says why are you having such a bloody big wedding when you’ve already had one/two? It’s not like you’re going to be Queen like my Mum is.”

Wheresthebeach · 27/04/2020 11:39

MM can’t stand being second fiddle

ToastedHaMSandwich · 27/04/2020 11:40

I think the book idea was to promote their future as they saw it and massive publicity for their SussexRoyal foundation and Instagram followers.

The RF confirmed there had been discussions about a change of role for them. Perhaps part of the H&M tantrum was the RF expressing displeasure at the book idea and using it as a platform for their funding ventures and the whole thing snowballed from there.

TimeLady · 27/04/2020 11:44

So maybe it was the RF who put a stop to it being published last year as planned?

MissEliza · 27/04/2020 11:49

@ArchePenguin that would be hilarious!

Nikhedonia · 27/04/2020 11:52

MM can’t stand being second fiddle

Or third fiddle, the way she cut through the seats at the Commonwealth service so she wasn't behind Sophie Wessex and Edward was cringeworthy.

Lllot5 · 27/04/2020 12:08

In that pic of William and Meghan she’s wearing a poppy. Must have been taken late October early November, just after the engagement then ?
Just seems such a shame to me it had to come to this.

bluebell34567 · 27/04/2020 12:11

on that photo of W and MM, W looks like giving a serious warning to her, not having a jolly conversation.

Ihavenoidewhatsgoingon · 27/04/2020 12:11

Is that not why everyone wasn’t speaking at the commonwealth thing? They wanted to walk down with everyone but were told they weren’t allowed and to go and sit and wait like Edward & Sophie? W&K went down early as well to keep the peace?

Nikhedonia · 27/04/2020 12:16

I'm referring to the end of the Commonwealth service when they were leaving.

I think they had pissed everyone off so much by the Commonwealth service that there could be any reason for hostility.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 27/04/2020 12:18

As they have already threatened a ‘no holds barred tv interview’ then quite frankly I wish the Royal family would tell them to bugger off and take legal steps to silence them for once and for all.
The more I hear about them the less edifying and the more spiteful they sound.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/04/2020 12:21

I’d love to be a fly on the wall when PP, PA or Camilla discuss MM. I imagine lots of “that bloody girl” conversations.

I’m definitely a lot more ready for Queen Camilla than I was before she entered stage. She’s behaved with such class and shown herself worthy imo.

BillieEilish · 27/04/2020 12:23

would imagine if it's about MM's time as a royal, it'll be more of a pamphlet than a book

Hilarious Grin

LadyEloise · 27/04/2020 12:28

All the misgivings William etc had, have been proved right.

Treating QE and PP with such disrespect in their very latter years.

How can Charles possibly continue to bankroll them ?
Perhaps he won't and that is why they've had to go to LA.

I'd like to know whether MM was married twice before Harry or just once. Also where Doria was when M lived with Thomas. Surely some intrepid investigative journalist can investigate ?

RosesandIris · 27/04/2020 12:33

Apparently Doria owned a shop for a while. She is also supposed to have had a partner for some years. Perhaps M didn’t get on with him.

DateLoaf · 27/04/2020 12:40

The Real World of Harry and Meghan
Hmm

MissEliza · 27/04/2020 12:41

Did she actually cut through the seats to get in front of Sophie and Edward? Sad.
It's interesting to compare Sophie to M. Sophie had a bumpy ride early on but, fair play, she showed a bit of humility and apologised for her mistakes. Since then she's been faultless in her duties and devotion to the RF. She has an apparently happy marriage, content family life and the respect of the public. I'd much rather have Sophie's life then Meghan's. Or Kate's actually!
