In one fell swoop, H&M have made them irrelevant in their coverage of their news (H&M news), there will be no 'the Sun has reported' from any story about them from now on. Looking around reputable press are covering this story, from CNN to FT.*

Yes there will be. The tabloids won’t stop reporting on them and the tabloids can still fact check with H&M’s legal team. It’s another misstep by the Sussexes.

These papers are part of the Royal Rota and every other publication not on the rota had to get information from them if they needed any information about H&M. Red flags have now been put up on these 4 publications. Anytime a real journalist needs info, they will not be referencing these papers anymore, they will not look to them, they will not be quote them.

Anyone who reads them regarding H&M anyway, will now know to classify them with the rest of ridiculous papers - like the ones that claim H&M are divorced, he lives in Africa, her in USA with a new lover and baby Archie is in Canada with her friends, that kind of rubbish tabloids.

Before this, people believed everything that they wrote that is why their readers get angry. But now people know the likes of Reuters, CNN, FT etc. can get access to H&M news if they want.

Bollocks.

It won’t stop the stories and the readership of the Sun, Mail, Express and Mirror is considerably higher than the papers H&M approve of. They have achieved little but to cause bad press yet again - or is the BBC also a tabloid?

Plus the tabloids don’t need to make things up about H&M - they provide endless stories themselves.

And lol at the FT giving a monkeys about them.

Dan Wootten will be quaking in his boots because his paper is already going down, the last thing he needs is to loose another lawsuit. He surely does not be part of the undoing of his paper like PM was.

The Sun has already lost a lot of money, and the other week these tabloids had send a letter around to advertisers asking them to pls advertise with the papers.

They've been going around lobbying people to buy papers instead of coffee.

And what has price of eggs got to do with anything?

Newspapers aren’t selling because of Covid-19, similarly advertising revenue is down. News International has a few pounds though - they’ll be ok and once lockdown ends matters will resolve themselves.

Tweets that are not from random opinions, but direct from the organisation itself or the leaders of the organisation, or the person conducting the interview, matter very much.

The FT is not going to pick up stories about Harry and Meghan’s latest brainless bit of self promotion.

That’s the stuff that will fund the Sussexes.

Exactly, papers are going down due to Corona, the last thing they need is to loose a case because Dan decided to print his pack of lies. That is another blow to the already wavering budget.

They lost the 68m before the pandemic.

No, I never once said the soldiers situation is the same as Harry. But printing a pack of lies on newspaper that is already loosing money , and getting sued makes matters worse.

Reading the texts made me feel sad for them, they clearly did try with TM behind the scenes.

I have to say though, I don’t know why they aren’t making the most of this time of being out of the headlines and staying quiet for a bit.

This isn’t what the Royal Rota is. It’s a rota for attending and reporting on events, to avoid the need for every media outlet to send someone. It isn’t about providing information about Harry and Megan.

They have their court case coming up this week.

It would probably look worse if they stay quiet now, when papers will be covering the case and then in, say January or whenever the lockdown eases, they suddenly send this message out.

Chances are that these papers have been hounding their PR team with constant calls, and since other publications can call them now, maybe the team complained that they can't deal with real papers and these tabloids at the same time. If they are limited with going into the office, I imagine it must be hard for them to deal with the volume of work.

Just my take.

I did not say it's exclusively for H&M. But the Royal Rota are the ones who are also sent updates and info on the royals. They are the first to get the financial statements before they are published, they are the ones whose calls are taken by the Palace when they have questions and any statements are sent through them. The Palace does not deal with any other press outside the Royal Rota, that is the whole point. So these papers were getting all the exclusives and had relations with the Royal press representatives.

That’s not true though. It’s only a rota for sending photographers and correspondents to official royal events. Which H&M will no longer be attending.

Listen to ITV Royal Rota reporter Chris Ship podcast. He explains it fully what the point of the Royal Rota is. He also carries on explaining in all the podcasts what they are about. He is not a H&M fan by the way.

I feel so sorry for them with this lawsuit. I do wish they hadn’t started it. The daily mail is a publication which frequently publish things about the invasion ants/moths/weeds which are going to destroy your garden and your life. These are always immigrant pests (funnily enough) and they never come in the end. I don’t know who takes them seriously.

But it must be incredibly painful to have your family life being dragged through the courts, your dad potentially testifying against you, etc, etc. I understand that they wanted to make a point, but the process is so awful.

i feel very sorry for Meghan, her dad and his dd have really tried to make money out of her. yet her dad is now being painted the victim.

Samcro, I am not sure it is that simple. I have no idea what her sister is on about, she seems to be a nutcase.

But I do think that Meghan’s dad is a deeply flawed person who loves her. And I think she loves him. Families are complicated. I wish they would have some time to sort it out privately.

Well Hippo, quite a number of people do take these tabloids seriously. You surely will have seen how 'disgusted' some people have said they are.

But also, it's a bit of a landmark case to have someone on a well known platform take a stand against these tabloids, because they have ruined many a lives of normal everyday citizen who simply cannot do this against these giants.

I remember one single mum who recently won a case against these tabloids . She almost committed suicide, she and her son were cast out. She was a hairdresser and the Sun ran a vendetta against her on a false story. They never even bothered to appear in court to apologise. I will find her name some time soon.

Even more prominent celebrities have been victims. Phil Schofield had his family matter of his being gay outed before he and his family were ready. And we all remember Caroline F. Numerous others, these publications are not doing the public any good and it's not clear exactly what 'public interest' do they serve. Yet, they feature so prominently in our store shelves. It's always good if someone of prominence takes a stand.

Mummy195 - loads of people read it, but don’t believe it - we aren’t stupid. It is well known the comments on the DM especially are vile and are not representative of UK general population. We all know not to believe everything in newspapers, especially the tabloids.

Most people wish them well, are disappointed by their public behaviour and now wish they would get on with their life quietly.

I do think Samantha M has an agenda, that involves wrecking other people's relationships. It's all looking a bit King Lear in that family. With flashes of Othello.
