i have been watching to much criminal minds.....had visions of her hiring a team of hit men.

Grin

Don’t. You’ll set the conspiracy theorists off.

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 16:53

H&M did try to help Thomas. That is in their court case documents.

Here :
edition.cnn.com/2020/04/20/uk/prince-harry-meghan-thomas-markle-court-documents-gbr-intl-scli/index.html?utm_content=2020-04-20T15%3A00%3A08&utm_medium=social&utm_term=link&utm_source=twCNN

and here

If the papers think they can rely on Thomas Markle to go to court, they can just forget it. I can bet you he will just feign a heart attack.

I initially thought Harry's statement about coronavirus was appallingly judged but then I read the whole story and it turns out he was referring to the community spirit and the way people are banding together to help each other etc, and that's what he said was better than we're led to believe. Not the virus itself!

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 16:57

It won’t get to court hearing @Mummy195 - there will be an out of court settlement of some sort. It’s not in Mail’s interests to go to a hearing and definitely not in the Sussexes interests either.

If I’m proved wrong on that I will come back and do a full & grovelling apology.

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 17:00

It would have been settled a long time ago if that was the case. H&M have nothing to lose here. They have an extremely strong case.

No, you will not apologise at all and everyone knows it as well as you, don't see why you even bother saying that.

I don't know who the hell is advising them at the moment, but they perhaps ought to think about a change of team.
Yes.

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 17:03

Cerseirys
He was talking about the volunteer work. I listened to the whole podcast here.

It’s brinkmanship and legal posturing.

No, you will not apologise at all and everyone knows it as well as you, don't see why you even bother saying that.

Well that’s slightly impolite. Not much point reiterating, really, but I will anyway. If I’m wrong I will apologise for being so certain I was right Smile

Cerseirys · 20/04/2020 17:12

Well it's not like it's beyond the tabloids to twist the truth to suit their agenda. Strange that so many people take their word for it rather than seek out the full quote from Harry though.

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 17:15

So, the messages in a nutshell.

MM only heard about her father being in hospital via TMZ.

It looks like Piers Morgan may have had his grubby paws all over this.

Very interesting reading the texts published from the court records.

I think there's a lot of stuff behind the scenes they've kept quiet about and dignified about. But they'll never get a fair hearing in public all the time you have gobshites like PM screaming about anything and everything they do continuously whilst also stating they are nothing and not worth discussing. And his is all based on the fact he's embarrassed she ghosted him and he wasn't a main player in their wedding that he continuously said he'd be!

Cerseirys · 20/04/2020 17:29

Wow those messages to her dad are very interesting indeed. So much for Harry barely having spoken to TM then!

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 17:29

It’s such a shame Tom, Meg & Harry didn’t manage to get in the same room together before the wedding, preferably before the engagement announcement. It’s all very personal so I don’t want to speculate about the ins and outs but I get the strong impression that both Meghan and her Dad are heartbroken by the outcome.

Very sad all round.

Blossom513 · 20/04/2020 17:41

Those texts are interesting. MM seems most concerned about her dads health. H seems most concerned about him going to the press.

I don't recall the details of the claim against the DM. Did the DM twist something with these actual messages?

Even so do you not wonder what evidence the daily mail are going to provide? This is only one side so far. That's the whole point of a court case is to hear the facts and evidence from all sides before coming to any conclusion. I'm pleased this is going to court and we can finally get some truth. DM must also feel they have a strong case, or 'something' to benefit from not settling and making sure this is heard in a court.

What do you think about MM not knowing her friends were going to blab about the letter? Presumably these were friends close enough to her that she told them about it. Quite a betrayal don't you think?

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 18:16

It is quite unlikely that the DM has anything on H&M. They would have published it ages ago and dwelled on it. The best they can do now is revive old stories that everyone already knows or trawl through the achives to see if they can twist anything to meet the narrative .

The press would have already printed any difference they have. You will notice that they only address the letter, but nothing about the other allegations in the lawsuit, like the inflated costs etc. They could for example produce pics or receipts about the various items they claim like Frogmore renovations that are not there, baby shower costs etc.
They are hardly going to tell us if they tried to settle out of court and H&M said no.

H was correct to be concerned look how the whole thing blew up. TM could have been like Doria.

I hardly think MM would be too hard on the friends, at that point they just had enough of all this BS directed at their friend and did not realise the scale and co-ordination of the smear campaign (look how Elton John was attacked, when he thought he was defending them).

The details of the case papers are here :

Dan Wootton is fuming on twitter, it's actually funny to watch.

CallmeAngelina · 20/04/2020 19:31

My understanding was that the Sussexes (or rather, Meghan, as it is she who is bringing the case) wanted to drop the charges but the Mail refused and are insisting it is played out in court.
If that is true, it would seem to indicate that she/they have more to lose than the Mail.

BarleylemonPenguin · 20/04/2020 19:47

Angelina - I’ve just posted on the other thread agreeing with others who have pointed out that being ‘royal’ offered a great deal of protection for H from the, erm, vigours of a free press. That’s why royals don’t say anything partisan while politicians do. You start taking a position (being political) and you immediately step over the line into the politics/activism arena - and that is not for the faint-hearted. Not everyone has the stomach for it. I wonder if they have? They are up against professional experts, professional politicians and a professional press (they do this for a living, are highly skilled and highly trained). Hmmm.

Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 21:53

Angelina. Where did you hear this, because I have never, ever come across it.

The RF were clearly not protective of H&M in the media from seeing their coverage, doesn't look like they are worse off to me. The press did not take pap pics, but they did worse, character assassination with the written word.

OP posts:
Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 21:59

Wootten is pathetic.

In one fell swoop, H&M have made them irrelevant in their coverage of their news (H&M news), there will be no 'the S*un has reported' from any story about them from now on.

Looking around reputable press are covering this story, from CNN to FT.

OP posts:
Mummy195 · 20/04/2020 22:20

Dan Wootten is trying to save face, though he must be quaking in his boots.

Also, he must realise that he just pissed off a lot of ppl in the army veterans community, because Declassified and Rubicon have had go around correcting people for his deliberately misinformative article regarding the volunteer podcast.

The only "fell swoop" H&M have made, is to now be a laughing stock around the world I'm afraid.
And that genuinely (despite what you may believe) saddens me, because they had it all. Everything. And they're throwing it all away in some misguided attempt to control their own destiny. Of course, we all want that, and there's no reason why they should not either, but they have TOTALLY gone about this in the wrong way.
They had an adoring public in the palms of their hands. Now look where they are. You're trying your hardest to portray the positives, but you surely have to admit that they no longer have the goodwill of the British public behind them AT ALL.

Jillyhilly · 21/04/2020 08:06

Why on earth would Dan Wootten be quaking in his boots? And what do those tweets have to do with the price of eggs?

alltripe · 21/04/2020 08:11

Dan Wootten is an idiot, but he’s not going to be quaking in his boots. That’s a very odd comment.
