Is there something seriously wrong with him?

Agree - cracking post, packing.
Harry has benefited from this mutual back-scratching arrangement the British press has with the RF. Apparently, once such deal was his alleged pot-smoking days as a teenager/young adult. They were allowed to print that, apparently so they stayed off much worse stories.
Despite what he seems to seems to think, he has actually been protected over the years by the British media. The army leak (about his tour of action) which he was reportedly so furious about, did not come from the UK, but a foreign (German????) news outlet. But the gloves are off now.

Daffodil55 · 20/04/2020 10:41

He went from hero to zero in a very short time as far as I was concerned. I never believed Meghan was as sincere and caring as she seemed. People fell for her because she was different/glamorous/confident etc. They made/make a handsome couple but other than that I wish they would just shut up and get on with their lives.

It is still very early days in their marriage. Let's see if it stands the test of time. Not many marriages do in that family.

ginghamstarfish · 20/04/2020 10:42

I'm not fussed about them one way or the other, but I'm a bit puzzled as to how you can have a quiet private life, and also register trademarks for loads of tat you will be selling with your name on it??

bluebell34567 · 20/04/2020 10:54

he's sixth in line you know, so he wont stop.

WildCoastalWolf · 20/04/2020 10:56

I think they thought they would be in the league of the Obamas - forgetting that those guys actually put in years of hard slog and public service and the gravitas and authority they now have has been earned.

In reality why would anyone pay them millions - to do what exactly? What are they going to talk about at all these speaker events?

So badly thought through. I genuinely hope Harry sees the light and moves on to something more dignified. Move to Africa and quietly get on with his conservation efforts. Come back to the UK and take back up his military appointments and focus on that.

There is dark haunted look on his face every time he is pictured now. It is awful to see.

Chista · 20/04/2020 10:57

I think hes been taken out of context, I interpreted it as not everything is doom and gloom and there is much hope and spirit amongst the British and how some people are going all out to support our NHS and the most vulnerable, some media do not report this. Although I do think he needs to take a break from the media, he is obviously going to get bashed no matter what he says or does, he was the one who wanted life away from the media so why put yourself in a position that will let them rip you apart. Just because he stepped down as a senior royal does not mean he is not a Prince still.

Wolfgirrl · 20/04/2020 10:58

I think coronavirus has come at a disastrous time for Harry and Meghan. They were relying on the hype surrounding their departure to kick off their new lives, but their thunder has been well and truly stolen. They're now facing a very long period of time before they can do any public appearances, during which time the public interest will fade. They are releasing pointless statements to try and keep the flame of their public attention alive, but they are growing more and more ridiculous. Their A-list 'friends' are only interested in their royal connections and status, they've lost the former and they are about to lose the latter. Neither of them have any potential to make money through their own skills, Meghan hasn't acted in a few years now and is getting older, and Harry's only job was the military. If rumours are true that they are being expected to pay for their own security, they are going to be up the creek without a paddle before too long.

The epitome of wanting the penny and the bun.

So? Hmm

teamilknosugar
Or even just a sub editor to edit down the word salad. soo correct.

I agree. You could sense it all through the South African documentary, even when he was just standing by, watching his wife talk.

bluebell34567 · 20/04/2020 11:03

i lost my respect -if i had any- for obama when he said uk will be at the end of the trading queue if brexit happens.

In my 25 years of living here, I've not heard that saying before! I love it. Grin

ArchePenguin · 20/04/2020 11:06

He’s had that look ever since they came back from the South Pacific. It started at the Remembrance Concert in 2018 and he’s barely looked happy since. Some weird stuff is going on.

Couldn't agree more @bluebell34567

bluebell34567 · 20/04/2020 11:11

Silicon Valley billionaire will be clever enough not to take her on.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 20/04/2020 11:17

They seem to bring out the worst in each other. Both so damaged by their childhood that they are unable to support each other. The difference with the Cambridges is stark.

BubblesBuddy · 20/04/2020 11:18

With the America first priorities of Trump abc mass unemployment there now, you had better believe we will be at the end of a very long queue. Trump owes us nothing. He owes his electorate everything.

So Harry and Meghan won’t speak directly to the Mail, Mirror, Sun and Express. Just announced. What a great way to hit the headlines again! All about them. As usual. I’m sure these newspapers won’t care if H&M’s agents don’t speak to them. There are so many other news channels to sell them stories. It would also be great if they didn’t write anything about them ever again. What peace!

CallmeAngelina · 20/04/2020 11:22

This won't stop those media outlets publishing stuff though. Arguably, it will just make the coverage worse for them, in terms of slant and bias.
The DM in particular is mean, and they won't hold back now, if they ever did. It's a bit like getting on the wrong side of Piers Morgan. I never blamed Meghan for distancing herself from him, presumably once someone let her know exactly what sort of bastard he is, but boy has he gone for her since. He's done her a LOT of damage. It probably would have been a better idea to keep him on side.

But can you imagine if there was a blanket news ban from UK publications on them and their doings? That would be a massive own-goal.
I read that MM wanted to drop her lawsuit against the Mail, but that they want their day in court, so won't let her. This could get very nasty. Wonder how much it is costing, and who will pay. Us, probably.

stairway · 20/04/2020 11:27

I don’t know why they keep using their titles instead of their real names when they moved to a country that famously cut loose from the Throne and apparently want to be private citizens.

bluebell34567 · 20/04/2020 11:28

there are better candidates for billionaires, not her.
