I’ve posted about the court case on another thread to say that tomorrow is a preliminary hearing - a strikeout hearing in fact. Associated Newspapers, the defendant and owner of The Mail on Sunday, is seeking an order from the court to strike out (delete) parts of Meghan’s claim. Presumably because they think those parts are not legally applicable or relevant.
So I’m not surprised that the MoS hasn’t settled yet. If they were going to, they would do so once they got the judgment for tomorrow’s hearing. If they get the order they want, I imagine they’d be unlikely to settle. If they don’t get the order they want, then I imagine they’ll be more likely to settle.
If Meghan withdraws, she’s very likely have to lay all of the MoS’s legal fees so far as well as her own. And obviously she can’t settle without the MoS’s agreement.
