I am really not sure about this. They "felt compelled" to share how the name came about and to announce their new venture but they're not releasing details because they want the focus to remain on the Covid crisis?

This is a mess. Full of contradiction. I finally admit that they have lost their way.

"They could have done so much good if they had stayed put."
So true. There was already so much love (lust?!) for Harry, then Meghan made the RF feel relevant for people who had never felt very connected to it, and they could choose what interests to focus on to a large extent, e.g. Grenfell kitchen and cookbook. They really could have been the couple who helped keep the RF relevant to the younger population of the UK. And done so much good.

They also had lovely houses to live in, could go on the best holidays, whenever they wanted, would have a great education for their son.

And they've thrown it all away, absolute madness.

Arche Foundation is better than Archewell. Why the change?

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 12:25
Grin

Archie is different though due to the added I. I hear it is pronounced ‘cash cow’.

Waterandlemonjuice · 07/04/2020 12:26

They really have lost it now. Fgs!

Waterandlemonjuice · 07/04/2020 12:26

Lol at pronounced cash cow

CandyStripeCushion · 07/04/2020 12:27

I feel incredibly sorry for poor Archie. Rather humiliating for him. Why can't they just be quiet and live their incredibly privileged lives with dignity and a modicum of quietness? Their saviour complexes will be the end of them.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 12:28

Nice of them to mention Covid in their address. It was a bit of a surprise because it is one thing that can’t be turned to be all about them.

WotnoPasta · 07/04/2020 12:29

I wonder if no one has told Meghan that the interest in her was the title, not the person.
Diana managed to transcend that rule, but she had been round for quite a while before the divorce.
I think if they want to make money from the Americans they should have stuck it out for a few more years first.
PP can’t last too many more years, I can’t wait to see what their role is in the public funeral, being pushed back.

Anthilda · 07/04/2020 12:31

@AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff 😂👍
Personally, I think its terrible timing and shows how self centred they are.
The most irritating couple!

Bluntness100 · 07/04/2020 12:35

It’s an odd name because you want to say it archiewell, which doesn’t sound good, and will what people nick name it, but I guess they must want it to be pronounced archwell. Which is better.

I also don’t think this was a good time to announce. If they were doing something to help with Covid, fair enough, but it seems a bit selfish and self absorbed to announce now when no one gives a shit.

LynetteScavo · 07/04/2020 12:37

I'm just not interested in this. I think it's fine and dandy for this country to have a royal family to bring in tourism, and open facilities etc', but if they don't want to partake in that and go and live in another country, fine, just don't expect me to be at all interested.

I'm sure many Americans will think it's fabulous, however.

Wheresthebeach · 07/04/2020 12:37

I can’t get my head around using their son’s name, all the fuss about moving to protect him and then they commercialise his name?

The level of tone deafness is shocking. They are hopeless, one day announcing they need a break, then they do this.

GoodStuffAnnie · 07/04/2020 12:45

They have done their bit for the pandemic. I haven't thought about the horrific disease and economic hardship surrounding us all for about 5 minutes whilst reading this thread. Brain break! Thanks H&M.

Talia99 · 07/04/2020 12:49

Except they didn’t release it - the Telegraph got hold of various documents which included the name of the foundation and they then released a statement explaining how they came up with that name.

If the British newspapers hadn’t published this, I suspect they would have left it until the crisis had died down.

Sunflower20 · 07/04/2020 12:52

I thought that they have fucked off? Why're they still hanging around like a bad smell.

MrsFogi · 07/04/2020 12:55

What a load of bollocks! And I wonder how much they will be paying themselves to run this foundation, not to mention the expenses they will be charging to it....Hmm.

CathyorClaire · 07/04/2020 12:57

First thing I thought when I saw it was 'menarche' but I don't suppose that was the association they were looking for Grin

Awful name. However you pronounce it the last thing it does is come tripping off the tongue.

Bluntness100 · 07/04/2020 12:58

What’s even worse is apparantly this name was thought of before they had Archie, which indicates says they named their own son after it, it’s pretty much what they’ve said.

I can’t understand what must be going on in their heads to do that.

CathyorClaire · 07/04/2020 13:06

Am I alone in suspecting the 'deep resources' they're drawing on is Charles' pockets?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 07/04/2020 13:07

I work for a global company whose name can be pronounced in umpteen different ways. It's not a problem, because the company is 50 years old.

If I was starting a charity (which in fact, I have) I would choose a name which everyone understood, was relevant, and could be pronounced by anyone in anyone's language (which I did).

Archewell might just as well be a hedge fund - and perhaps it is.

OVienna · 07/04/2020 13:12

@whatnopasta

"Diana managed to transcend that rule, but she had been round for quite a while before the divorce.
I think if they want to make money from the Americans they should have stuck it out for a few more years first."

this is the heart of it as well.

WobbleTime · 07/04/2020 13:14

Archewell - sounds like a nuclear power station.

bestcat · 07/04/2020 13:15

Very tacky!

Also, they didn't share pics of Archie when he was born to protect his privacy and now he is a mascot for their foundation? It's ill thought out. Neither of them seem particularly smart.

Megs has a pretty face and and iron will, which has made her semi successful and Harry is not so bright and not streetwise. They are now an embarrassment to themselves and to their families, silly people. Never mind.

PineappleDanish · 07/04/2020 13:15

That's really.... bad.

Are. Chew. Ell.

How much are they paying branding consultants to come up with this guff?

Wheresthebeach · 07/04/2020 13:16

Wobble Grin. Yes it does.
