Royals and American media coverage

ButteryPuffin · 04/04/2020 23:50

Saw this cover posted on Twitter and noted that it seems the tabloids do indeed exist in the US (amazing, huh?). This is pretty much what you'd expect from the source, and I think it's pretty deplorable, but I am interested to see how the American media in general cover the presence of the former royals who've now arrived to make their home there. Of course we can discuss their coverage of other Royals too and related topics. All welcome.

Link to cover story - please note I'm not endorsing it, I'm just sharing it:

ah x-posts fleas

mathanxiety · 09/04/2020 21:32

DandyArgo

Looks as if that snide, unpleasant post was deleted then.

All good.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 09/04/2020 21:35

fleas I'm not that bothered about chocolate either or in fact any sort of pudding. Wine though, I'd fight you for that Grin and anything savoury too (except Pringles, which are just as cardboard as their packaging).

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 21:35

Always worry I've lost a filling

I, personally, have lost many fillings over the years, as a direct result of eating pear drops.

Yes, I know we were talking about chocolate.

lizzie you can get Slimfast chocolate caramel bars on Amazon. They come with the highest recommendations.

DandyArgo · 09/04/2020 21:36

@mathanxiety if you mean the post about pronouncing The Tig, no it's still there. I've just done a search on this page. And scrolled past lots of posts about tights ...

I missed it before because I didn't read swathes of posts when catching up.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 21:37

Aww yolo we've disagreed before about Pringles.

I prefer savoury things myself. Would always rather have something savoury than something sweet.

I am especially keen on Cheese and Chive Pringles.

Not keen on the Salt and Vinegar ones. They give me third-degree birns of the tongue.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 21:38

Or burns, even.

LaMarschallin · 09/04/2020 21:40

The exception being chocolate caramel shortbread. Do love that!

Ah, Mischief, that's one of my specialities (except I don't know whether to pronounce it "special-tees" or "spesh-ee-al-it-tees").

Anyway, sad story: I passed on the recipe to a friend and she made the caramel bit with evaporated milk instead of condensed milk.

I know, right?

Poor lamb - didn't actually need a padded room, but certainly had a well-insulated one for a while.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 09/04/2020 21:47

That is so true Mustress, salt and vinegar Pringles take the skin off the inside of your mouth.

I'm partial to the Paprika ones (actually they might be supermarket copies but still...)

Would definitely rather have savoury than sweet any day.

Except nuts Envynot envy.

ArchePenguin · 09/04/2020 21:52

I have eaten too many Cadbury mini eggs.

lizzie1970a · 09/04/2020 21:56

Oh, thank you. Good idea about getting it delivered, thanks!

Archewell · 09/04/2020 22:01

I was just trying out this user name, to see if anyone had taken it.

Nobody has.

Grin

BTW I am The Mustress - not trying to pretend otherwise.

LaMarschallin · 09/04/2020 22:02

Would definitely rather have savoury than sweet any day.

I take your point, Mischief, but once lost a crown to a bag of pork scratchings.

I'm not saying it wasn't worth it, but it turned out to be a jolly expensive bag of pork scratchings.

Archewell · 09/04/2020 22:02

Ha ha ha. I would've thought this name would have been snapped up.

Oh well. I shall change back to TheMustressMhor now. Back in a minute.

ArchePenguin · 09/04/2020 22:05

But how do you pronounce your name Archewell!?

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:05

Right.

I'm me again.

Not Archewell.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:08

Personally, (when I was Archewell, however briefly) I pronounced it

Arch - Well.

But when I first saw it, a couple of days ago, I pronounced it Archie-Well.

Mr. Mhor pronounces it Arsh - Well.

But he is wrong, of course.

Why? How do you all pronounce it? I do not think that Meghan would have invented a website name which had pronunciation ambiguity.

That would just have been idiotic.

HarryDaylight · 09/04/2020 22:12

Thank goodness Mustress, I was confused.

Back to chocolate. I am very simple, and like any chocolate as long as it's not bitter.

Oh yes, and also I prefer it without big nuts.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:14

Oh a do agree, HarryDaylight.

I am not keen on big nuts at all.

HarryDaylight · 09/04/2020 22:16

Did someone mention chocolate caramel shortbread? 😊

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:16

I especially don't like big nuts when they have been dipped in chocolate.

Mr. Mhor will testify to this.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:17

Oooooh.

Chocolate caramel shortbread>

Yummity Yum.

7Penguins · 09/04/2020 22:19

I'll take your nuts. Grin

I'm partial to Tony Chocolonely Dark with Pretzel Toffee, or Ritter Sport Marzipan.
Currently though am making do with a Cadbury triple chocolate.

TheMustressMhor · 09/04/2020 22:23

Ooh don't you think that Tony Chocolonely is very expensive?

7Penguins · 09/04/2020 22:28

It's pricy, but I'm very odd at expenditure - I don't own/spend on certain things, and go all out on things I like that matter, thus achieving financial and mental equilibrium.
