Why do HARRY and MEGHAN write their INSTAGRAM posts with this WEIRD mix of words in block CAPITALS and others in standard script? It's very ODD.

LilyMumsnet ButteryPuffin pointed out that if we discussed another thread further it would be deleted so as you’ll notice that has been taken on board and we arent doing this.

AllTheLittlePenguinsRiseUp · 03/04/2020 21:42

@LilyMumsnet

Sorry if anyone has bothered you with a report this is a TAAT. Shock

This is a new thread about social media presence and genuine interest about what the ex-royal duo will do next.

We've moved on Grin

AllTheLittlePenguinsRiseUp · 03/04/2020 21:43

Sorry Jaggery cross post

TimeLady · 03/04/2020 21:45

First shot of Meghan and Harry in LA home ‘will fetch $100,000’

AllTheLittlePenguinsRiseUp · 03/04/2020 21:55

Maybe HaM could sell the pictures themselves?

Isn't that the argument some people make for doing deals with Hello! and the like?

I think Zara and Mike T did Hello!, so there's that.

It's not a long term career though.

Jaggerypokery · 03/04/2020 21:58

TimeLady good grief that’s an insane amount of money. The very last thing that Harry would want is having their home staked out by paparazzi but that’s exactly what they’ve opened themselves up to by moving into a celebrity culture away from the very guarded and controlled royal environment.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 03/04/2020 22:00

That's a worrying article, TimeLady. The idea that "teams of photographers" are hunting for the Sussexes and their son is pretty chilling. It seems as though they are protected by the lockdown but the minute restrictions are lifted they are going to be fair game.

Surely this can't be what H envisaged when he said he was protecting his family?

TimeLady · 03/04/2020 22:03

I presume it means it's the photographer who will get the $100k, not the Sussexes.

DandyPenguin · 03/04/2020 22:04

Wowzers.

RosesandIris · 03/04/2020 23:23

Well hello there. It's getting harder and harder to find you all...

ARoseInHarlem · 03/04/2020 23:50

About GBP 82,000?

Why - WHY - would you leave the UK, Frogmore, a quiet country house in the Cotswolds (or wherever they wanted), a privacy deal with British tabloids and the ability to sue foreign magazines, for LA where you're on edge in your own home, won't let your toddler roam freely in the garden, for EIGHTY TWO THOUSAND POUNDS??

That's how much a moderately kitted out expensive car costs.

What on earth is worth so much??

RosesandIris · 03/04/2020 23:57

Surely homes in LA of that sort are incredibly protected, in gated communities etc. There are lots of much more important celebs than them in LA. Presumably all their neighbours are left alone?

Tsukukuviri · 04/04/2020 00:36

“We can’t leave pages and pages of posts that are just cruel and aren’t advancing any real argument to stand. It’s just not what the site is here for”.

Thank you so much @MNHQ for the thoughtful and considered deletion message on the last thread. You have put your finger on what is so uncomfortable about these threads: pages and pages of cruelty for no real purpose.

The same thing will likehappen on this thread, as it sadly has happened on every single thread with this same group of posters.

But I am HOPEFUL that things will miraculously CHANGE in this ONE thread!

No. Not really Wink

Tsukukuviri · 04/04/2020 00:37

Will likely happen, sorry for typo.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 04/04/2020 00:37

I think within the community they might be alright, the trouble comes when they step outside.

Triglesoffy · 04/04/2020 00:40

There are some awfully mean comments on the whonis happy for Harry and Meghan thread. Tsukukvvivie will you pop over there and check it out? Some real beanies.

Triglesoffy · 04/04/2020 00:42

Sorry wrong thread. It’s the one that says they hope this is the end of the Royal Family due to coronavirus. Some mean spirited comments. Awful. Why won’t mumsnet do something?

ButteryPuffin · 04/04/2020 00:47

Yes, better take a look @Tsukukuviri. Meanness is something you will want to take a stand on.

ButteryPuffin · 04/04/2020 00:54

Is this the right one @Triglesoffy?

No comments on it from @MNHQ. Surprising.

Triglesoffy · 04/04/2020 01:00

It is this one www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3866002-Could-this-be-the-end-of-the-Royal-family

Saying Prince Charles faked coronavirus and how and how hypocritical Kate and Will are for saying it’s hard to home school primary school children.

Anyway, we don’t want t this to be a thread about another thread but there is some pretty vile stuff there.

slithytove · 04/04/2020 01:21

Hello
Penguins

AmIbeingTreasonable · 04/04/2020 01:28

I'm in the Antipodes so I missed a lot due to the time difference, so just delurking briefly to ask @DandyPenguin to please pm me 😁

BilboBercow · 04/04/2020 01:54

As someone who worked in corporate communications for years, they absolutely will not be writing their own Instagram posts. They'll either employ a comms person, or more likely, employ a PR firm who'll handle all messaging.

StartupRepair · 04/04/2020 02:10

Would appreciate it if Dandy penguin could SHINE a LIGHT for me.

PorridgeShotgun · 04/04/2020 05:25

Delurking to muse that the mish mash of all caps and lower case is most likely for emphasis, but when I see this in the wild my dyslexia always makes me think of ransom notes in films.

I'm probably reading too much into it to muse on the point that it's a very common stylistic convention in scriptwriting too.
Not that this reflects on the ex royals, as it will be written/posted by a minion on their payroll. I also imagine any notes from Meghan would be calligraphied and not a mix of caps and lowercase - she does have beautiful penmanship, I'll give her that.
