Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

The hoaxers, known as Vovan and Lexus, also tricked him into believing mining companies close to Trump were exploiting the fictional island of Chunga-Changa.

(The Guardian today...)

Good god, this gets worse. It’s like something from Monty Python. 😆

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 15:57

Chunga-Changa is apparently a fantasy island from a Russian children's song where the sun shines all the time.

There is so much in that to try and pick apart, but maybe best not Grin

I don't understand that OS piece.

They are apparently devastated to be leaving their royal roles. But nobody made them.

They asked to be able to do less royal work and be allowed to pursue their own financial interests.

They were asked to proved a detailed business plan. They didn't.

In the absence of that, they were told that what they were vaguely proposing wouldn't be possible.

They could have carried on under the existing terms and conditions. They chose not to.

I’m sitting in a cafe, on my 2nd day out after a minor op last week. I was trying not to laugh out loud as I caught up with the thread, but your comment about that song yolo finished me off.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 16:30

oops sorry dandy! wishing you a gentle snigger rather than a belly laugh, and a speedy recovery Flowers

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 12/03/2020 16:31

That article is so tone deaf. Do they not realise what is going on this country???

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 12/03/2020 16:31

Dandy Flowers

DandyPenguin · 12/03/2020 16:46

Thank you penguins ladies Smile

Now back at home in a prostrate position!

7Penguins · 12/03/2020 17:11

Speedy recovery, Dandy!

I didn’t want to brag, but I can actually sing Chunga Changa in Russian (which isn’t my native tongue).

BelleharePenguin09 · 12/03/2020 17:16

Rest well, Dandy. Flowers

BarleylemonPenguin · 12/03/2020 17:33

Gentle titters, Dandy Flowers

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 12/03/2020 17:47

You take care, Dandy.Thanks

If you close your eyes you may even be able to hear 7penguins singing.

It's a simple situation I think. M and H wanted out. They thought they could leave on their terms and keep all the 'goodies' whilst being able to swan back when they felt like it, to huge acclaim.
The reality of the situation is now sinking in. They are not at all popular with the other members of the RF now who feel let down, sold out and made to look bad when they have done nothing but support the two of them all the way.
They don't have the Kudos any longer of being within the fold. They have seen that making their own money is not going to be so easy. It's hard to keep their instagram looking relevant with old pictures of themselves in a redundant role.
It's all becoming a bit of a nuisance, so cue the whining about how hard done by they are/have been. No one recognises their special talents, their ability to connect with the 'real people' etc etc.

It actually makes me sick.

ButteryPuffin · 12/03/2020 17:59

Keep yourself out of the way of the virus, Dandy! That's the last thing you need.

One thing that made an impression from that article was Harry's genuine distress at giving up his military roles. I believe this is real, and I also think Meghan will struggle to empathise with it. But it's clearly been a key part of his identity - citing it (however naively) as what makes him 'normal'. It's going to be very difficult to detach from that, and from his family structure, long term. Meghan on the other hand is back on familiar territory. If she is a wise woman she'll be working hard on thinking of meaningful things Harry can now do, because he'll need them.

H&M wanted to support their chosen causes in a way of their choosing according to the article.

The trouble is that when you're born into a position or marry into one, you haven't earned the right to make those decisions. You're not in that position because you're super knowledgeable or experienced and therefore you have to learn to do as you're told.

If you're not prepared to tow the line, you have to leave.

BarleylemonPenguin · 12/03/2020 18:52

I didn’t want to brag, but I can actually sing Chunga Changa in Russian (which isn’t my native tongue).

Careful now. You’ll be doing voiceovers next.

Winterlife · 12/03/2020 18:55

@Everycloud12, neither Harry nor Meghan have any expertise in any of the causes they profess to support. They may have interests and knowledge, but expertise? No way.

Everycloud12 · 12/03/2020 18:58

Winterlife that's exactly my point. They didn't seem to understand that their positions are merely ceremonial.

7Penguins · 12/03/2020 19:12

Barleylemon it’s the pitch!

SussexRoyalPenguin · 12/03/2020 19:16

Forced to give up roles they’re incredibly proud of after sacrificing so much to get there.

What did they sacrifice in order to get their roles?

SussexRoyalPenguin · 12/03/2020 19:17

I think it’s a typo.

Forced to give up the Rolls

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 19:28

Sooo many laughs on here, I can't single you out! Still, let's keep waddling on, penguin stylee Grin
