Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

He cannot be addressed as HRH from 1 April though.

Barleylemon, absolutely. People look for a reassuring figurehead in troubled times. They panic without one (Diana's death being a classic example).

If the RF do nothing more than provide this, job done. But they do do so much more, for charity and for the nation through supporting industry and generating tourism. I sound like a royalist, I'm not especially, but I recognise their worth.

I really dislike pranksters but those who complain about speculation and unsubstantiated gossip will be satisfied at least. This is horse's mouth stuff.

What has struck me is how successful the previous palace PR machine had been at crafting Harry's image, because since he's been DIYing I have been very unimpressed. I wasn't a massive Royalist and I would've put Harry into the "harmless" column, but now I am finding him very pompous and self-righteous and truly oblivious to the immense privilege he has always been granted. Obviously none of us know what goes on behind closed doors, but the rest of his family seem to be very carefully trying to protect the family image, including his, by maintaining a steady neutrality. Harry however seems to hold a lot of anger and resentment even though he it getting what he claimed to want, including still retaining a whole house in the UK and a open invitation to return.

Fleas - agree that they do all that too. God teaches, Royals reassure. I wonder if this is explicitly taught at royal school or assimilated through osmosis?

I read about the hoax call this morning. I am confused though. Is it that H was hoaxed/tricked into thinking that he was speaking to GT or was the whole thing a hoax and it wasn't ever really H?

I would have thought that the whole RF would be super careful about who they speak to on the phone given that there have been previous hoaxes, eg the one when the Duchess of Cambridge was in hospital.

The thing is, we know H feels misunderstood, he has said so. Perhaps he doesn't like the curated image of himself.

I'm astonished this call got as far as it did, but I suppose at least the real Harry (if it is him) has finally got his voice heard. Whether he'll be happy with the reception is another matter.

If it's true, and Harry genuinely believed he was speaking to Greta, I'm still surprised at how open he was with his thoughts. 'Greta' seemed to get him to cover a lot of topics! Shame she didn't ask his thoughts about funding for their security

Just thinking as well, the dates of the calls were before it was well known they were on Vancouver Island? One was 31st Dec but didn't we only find out where they were early Jan? Or have I got my dates wrong. The pranksters are Russian and there were reports their house was owned by a Russian (can't remember if that got proven wrong though).

As I said elsewhere, the prank call, if true shows an awful mix of grandiosity and vulnerability.

If I were Beatrice I would postpone until things are quieter all round. Either that or just say "fuck it" and elope!

I didn't see last night's activity so no idea why the thread was pulled. The deletion message talks about mental health so I'm guessing people were trying to guess Harry's state of mind.

I've also gone from not caring less about the RF to be a teeny bit royalist due to the fiasco with H&M. I think HMQ has been awesome throughout and H&M could have learned so much from her if they had bothered sticking it out long enough to listen. They could have been really good for the Commonwealth in the roles given by the Queen. Really sad that they've thrown it away.

I don't want to pay for royals who aren't working for the country. It's as simple as that. I don't want to pay for their security so that they can play globe trotting A-listers and pretend Obamas. If that's what they want let them pay for it themselves.

I’ve listened to the YouTube video available of the call and it does seem legit. Sounds completely like him. But who knows.

Good grief, that can't possibly be true can it? I mean who on earth talks like that to a 17 year old girl he's never met?

Absolutely fucking bizarre.

It's a horrible thing to trick someone like that though, but I would have thought phonecalls to royals were almost kind of pre-planned - everyone's people talk to each other and arrange 3pm on Thursday, safe line, etc etc.

My favourite bit of the Harry quotes is about flying

I'm not quite sure who he means when he says most people but it's not the general population (who are paying for his life)

Hypothetically speaking, it’s a shame that if MNHQ were going to delete a hypothetical thread for being a TAAT, they wouldn’t give a hypothetical warning first.

Especially if the hypothetical thread happened to unusually (but hypothetically) include a lot of posters talking about personal stuff and providing (very real ) support.
