Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

I hope this isn't a build up to justifying entirely public funded security! But it does go to show that it's more than just physical protection that is needed

I'm not sure how that would work anyway; it's one thing having a bunch of heavies to surround you when out and quite another to have some sort of call screening

I think though that regardless of the security, if royal family members are determined to do things on their own or their own way then they will. Even if they're a bit of a wally to do so.

I assume security protection is more about physical protection - if you take calls from randoms, that is down to you and your office staff.

Blind gossip have been correct on quite a lot of stuff to do with H&M but if what they are saying is true. Umm, well I can sort of see why Kate didn't leap across the chairs to embrace Meghan.

But for some people the no contact with members of the family only seems to work one way.

BG somewhere up thread, someone said that the media had been very nice to HaM during the last few days, and indeed I think they were. But possibly only because they had a good few hand grenades in reserve, and they are starting to be used.

Historically, the RF and the media have had an uneasy relationship, but after Diana they seemed to call a truce and be in "you scratch my back" type mode.

That seemed to last a very long time.

I don't believe it but I'm quite a straightforward person and just can't imagine thinking up something like that and then carrying it out with all the risk involved. H wouldn't be happy if he found out. It's too risky, I think.

I thought initially W tried to do his 'scarf' trick in the abbey but in another way, by picking up the programme from the chair with his left hand, meaning he could turn his body away from H and M and ignore them but it seems he's left handed so that puts paid to that.

That first paragraph of mine in previous post is referring to the blind gossip thing about the W affair rumour. I can't believe, too much intrigue and conspiracy.

HMQ got pranked in the 90s I think. Someone pretending to be the Canadian PM. It happens to the best of them and it’s grim. I actually think, bar the ill advised comments on Trump (but he’s right isn’t he!), he came across as nice but naive.
