Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

Lol Grin

yolofish · 11/03/2020 19:28

careful sussex Grin

are you ok with that dry cough?

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:28

I think you're right Sussex. It was at least 10 years ago. I didn't know much about Disney then. We have actually still got some puffles, just remembered.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 19:29

For that cough, you see... Grin

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:29

It was Runescape the other game. Anyway, won't derail any further. Yolo had me reminiscing.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 19:31

lizzie I had an inkling it was Runescape. My grown-ass DH still plays it...

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:34

No!! Haha, I didn't even know if it was still around. It was good :)

yolofish · 11/03/2020 19:34

Oof, that DM article, and the comments Shock. I think Meghan needs to find some more discreet 'friends' pdq. I'll just leave that statement there, no need to further qualify.

Rainbows8117 · 11/03/2020 19:35

ITV reported on the hoax call in the evening news, including an audio clip.
BBC reporters have spoken with the pranksters and they stand by everything.

The more I hear the more I think it's definitely Harry. I guess we will never know as I can't imagine Harry admitting it if it was.

The media have definitely saved it until after their final engagement. I wonder what else is going to come out? Maybe it's not going to die down after all. It feels like there is going to be a drip drip drip of articles now.

StartupRepair · 11/03/2020 19:37

I do think it was Harry on the tape. I think his earnestness and lack of clue about the world are genuine.
I worry about him, cut off from his family and clearly not accessing or taking any advice. 'Us against the world' is not a great place to be.
I fear that Meghan may start to feel that he is damaging hrr brand.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 19:38

Ouch, if evening news are reporting on it it's going to be very painful.

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:39

I can't find that one yolo - lots on the DM right now with everything going on so maybe it's slipped down. I didn't think her make-up artist was wise to say what he said. They need to remember it just makes 'royalty', which they're insisting they still are, more like celebrities.

I would personally stop all 'friends' chipping in stuff if they are and make a clear statement on their website that if they haven't said anything directly it's not true. Too much speculation going on, no one knows what to believe, and it stirs things up. They all need to stop doing it if they are.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 11/03/2020 19:42

Would that call have got through to him if he still had a BP based PR team? How did he get the call? (how does one even get the number of these people?)

Surely this is just the tip of what is to come regarding his privacy?

mrscampbellblackagain · 11/03/2020 19:44

Harry is probably on here. Everyone seems to be urged to go non contact with their families Wink

I think the digs at Kate and her parenting are really mean. So very much hope it is made up and not sanctioned by H&M.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 11/03/2020 19:45

What article?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/03/2020 19:46

Trust me, lizzie, you don't want to find it - not so much the article, though that was bad enough, but the comments

At least on here, even if we sometimes disagree, most express themselves without downright unpleasantness

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:46

And seeing as everyone under the age of 35 or 36, seems to be carrying out an activist's role, gives us the opportunity to try and make more of a difference without being criticised (chuckles). This is from the DM.

If it's true and he did say that, they're 35, going on 36, and 38, going on 39 and it's not like they grew up with these interests, it's relatively recent. They're not specialists either. What can they realistically do? You'll get some sheep that will listen to what they have to say and adore everything they do but some of us have brains and see it for what it is, band-waggon jumping.

mrscampbellblackagain · 11/03/2020 19:46

I think the prank was mean - definitely.

However, this will be how Harry learns what life not being in the bosom of the RF is like. They will be easy targets for all sorts of dodgy people. Especially if unscrupulous people sense they need to make bank.

Oh well, doesn't look like interest in them is going to wain anytime soon.

I can only imagine how sad Harry feels really at having becoming so separate from his family.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 11/03/2020 19:50

The comments on that article. Nasty.

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:50

I just want them to disappear completely. Make their living in the US if that's what they plan but I don't want it in the news all the time. Hopefully interest will fade as it did with Sarah Ferguson. I watched them at the events and I just thought they're giving up so much, for fame and fortune, which they had in abundance anyway and now they'll have more but they have lost some respect.

DandyPenguin · 11/03/2020 19:51

What article?! Have I missed a link?

Rainbows8117 · 11/03/2020 19:52

It was their final report of the programme. They said 'the authenticity of the recording has not been challenged'

Then they also say 'royal watchers say the security breach highlights the risks of the Sussexes new life. Shows he is a target and there are lots of issues that haven't been resolved once he steps away from all the protection he has now'

Then goes on to say how he's not the first and Elton John and Boris were also victims of the hoax calls.

I hope this isn't a build up to justifying entirely public funded security! But it does go to show that it's more than just physical protection that is needed.

I know some have questioned how the pranksters would have got through to him. I think it's feasible if you know the right protocols... say if Greta genuinely wanted a call I imagine her people and his people talk first, verify a few things then arrange the call. They probably just knew what to say to the right people.

Maybe he was hooked by some suggestion of him and Greta 'collaborating' on some environmental issues. Maybe the enthusiasm for the opportunity got in the way of being cautious on the phone.

Who knows for sure but it's fascinating.

DandyPenguin · 11/03/2020 19:54

Delurking to say my kids loved Club Penguin. I think they were called puffles.

@lizzie1970a It always makes me smile affectionately when people delurk like this in response to left field details Smile

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 19:55

The majority of comments on them have been nasty over the weeks and loads more of them too on the DM. You'd rarely see comments on one article about anything in the thousands if not tens of thousands for some but now they regularly get 5-8k of comments. They don't seem phased.

Imagine becoming that notorious. But then again others love them, excessively so to me it seems and in an unwarranted way. Takes all sorts I suppose.

lizzie1970a · 11/03/2020 20:00

Yes, Dandy - all it took was yolo mentioning Club Penguin and it took me back 12 years instantly and I couldn't resist commenting Smile
