Carrying on the conversation as the last thread finished mid-discussion.

@Sunshineand

Unlike the other thread, this one makes no restrictions in the OP on the type of post wanted. It’s a discussion thread and a range of views are welcome.

Yes there are comments criticising her look, but there are also comments praising her look. You weren’t the first person on here to say ‘that’ photo is stunning. I agree with you - it’s a spectacular picture and they look amazing. And yes as if wanting to sock it to their ex.

If only being royal or a good ambassador for your (allegedly adopted) country was about looking like a star. Charisma is certainly a big part of it and helps but looking great doesn’t make them better royals.

The only real relevance to their appearance in terms of being royal is whether they are dressed appropriately. I don’t give a shiny stocking whether she’s wearing tights or stockings and don’t know if she is or not, but if that’s part of royal protocol then that’s what she should be wearing. It’s etiquette and respect.

Drina27 I was going to suggest the Jurgen Klopp school of dentistry instead! I love Jurgen but his smile is something to behold!

Anyway the colour & style of her dress certainly made sure she stood out amongst the evening dress code. Deliberate maybe, who knows.

Allflightscancelled · 06/03/2020 10:08

I've just realised something! I've been hugely invested right since the very beginning of all these threads, and posted under a variety of names, because I change name v regularly. But now I see that it's the thread and the insightful and funny comments I'm obsessed with, and I've actually lost all interest in M and H themselves. This dawned on me suddenly because I came straight back to the thread this morning to see what everyone thought, and I've read every post, but I haven't seen even one pic of the happy couple's appearances yesterday. And I'm not rushing off now to find any either.

7Worfs · 06/03/2020 10:20

I caught some photos and videos and two stood up for me:

MM in the audience during the event, not just holding Harry’s hand, but clasping his hand with both her hands and arms weaved. Really, really weird.

A vet’s surprise proposal to his gf - MM’s embarrassingly exaggerated reaction, her glancing at Harry, and him smiling normally and having an appropriate reaction.

I wonder if he ever gets tired of the LA fakery. It’s at such odds with British culture.

As Pippa says to MM in The Windsors - Keep talking like that, the British people will love it 😏

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 06/03/2020 10:31

@Sunshineand

This must have felt like bumping into your ex when you looked amazing and were with a hunk grin

Ha ha! I get this sentiment because I NEVER bump into old friends or persons of affection when I'm looking amazing. Oh no. The day I can't be bothered, no makeup hair tangled, piled on weight or am recovering from a rotten cold or something? Yeah guaranteed to bump into them then. Recently bumped into an old bully from secondary school after a hot sweaty train journey where I'd been bumped and spilt coffee all over my shirt. Yep. Felt like crap.

To tie it back to the discussion. I do say I have to admire Meghan's 'Front'. Sort of 'hate me fuckers but I look good' I'm not quite sure if it's brave or defiant, but I have to say she uses that acting ability to convey her narrative (I'm winning, we're so in love, you can't get us down I'm a Duchess...whatever it is or may be) with style.

drina27 · 06/03/2020 10:32

Pippa is great in The Windsors!

Rumboogie · 06/03/2020 10:40

It’s indicative of something that the look she is emulating is the Kim Kardashian look. Humans can and do impute things from appearances, and humans can and do communicate via their appearance

Agree with both your posts DeRigeuer and 7Salmon*, but also think that flaunting conspicuous, unnecessary and what must have been considerable expenditure (plus makeup artist etc) is insulting in the light if the concern regarding funding of their enormous security costs by the taxpayer.

Also taking us all for fools in their statement of wanting a quiet life as an excuse for bunking off - clearly not the case if you have work like that done to your appearance, as you have indicated in the statement above.

yolofish · 06/03/2020 10:43

I just dont think the Kardashian look is good on anyone, not even the Kardashians themselves. Tacky and trashy (and I dont care if that makes me not a feminist!) It's a caricature of womanhood.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/03/2020 10:48

No need for steel knickers, DeRigeur; there's nothing wrong with what you posted at 00.16, though I acknowledge that expectations are different within the sort of world that Meghan appears to favour

As said before, many of us might notice the fashion, the hand holding, the bump cradling and all the rest, but we don't really care ... what we care about is the behaviour, the expectations and the very obvious "f**k you" to those who are expected to pay for their choices

Waspie · 06/03/2020 11:02

I agree with CanIHaveATiaraPlease earlier this morning. I too don't give a stuff about teeth and dresses and I'm glad she didn't have a coat because it meant the tax payer didn't have to pay for it.

I am interested in the umbrella with personal assistant option. I'd like one of these because I have a tendency to leave my brolly on the tube or in the back of a taxi.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/03/2020 11:21

Like Allflightscancelled it's the insight and discussion on these threads that I find compelling. I find the blind adoration from some less appealing, but I suppose that's the fan mentality for you.

So, the awards ceremony, and I noticed MM was introduced as Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex. I actually can't bear to watch her speak any more. There is no content there, only performance of the most self congratulatory kind.

I didn't find Harry's speech heartfelt or sincere either I'm afraid. In fact, I concur with whoever said

‘I’ve got your back, but not so much that I’m prepared to stay around. I’ll be watching when I feel like it from my millionaires mansion.

I felt the same when MM made her "I stand before you as a woman of colour and as your sister" speech in SA. Where was the sisterhood? Every visit on that tour ended with them going back to luxury accommodation with ample food and comfort. Empty words.

They are going through the motions, it's all very uncomfortable. The sooner it ends the better.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/03/2020 11:25

So, the awards ceremony, and I noticed MM was introduced as Her Royal Highness ...

I thought the agreement was that the HRH wouldn't be used any more?

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 06/03/2020 11:27

The HRH won’t be used after 31 March.

Rainbows8117 · 06/03/2020 11:34

I noticed MM was introduced as Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.

Stark contrast to 'just call me Harry' last week. Do we know how Harry was introduced last night? I've not seen any footage.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/03/2020 11:38

I am not at all surprised MM was introduced as HRH. That speaks volumes to me. Technically the new arrangements aren't in place but the decent and dignified thing would be to quietly drop it now so that people could get used to referring to them by their new title.

HMQ is going to have to keep an eye on them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/03/2020 12:01

The HRH won’t be used after 31 March

You're right; silly of me ...

drina27 · 06/03/2020 12:02

They are going through the motions, it's all very uncomfortable. The sooner it ends the better.

Absolutely. I am very disappointed in the prince’s behaviour and his utter shallowness.

PelicanPie · 06/03/2020 12:02

I wonder if he ever gets tired of the LA fakery. It’s at such odds with British culture.

I wonder the same thing. Also noticed the same things you did.

drina27 · 06/03/2020 12:04

Fortunately for this country his brother is the important one.

DandyAF · 06/03/2020 12:17

Endeavour is one of the patronage’s Harry’s said he’s continuing, no? HaM insisting on first-name usage only and no titles would have been a demonstration of a collaborative spirit and an intention to have long-term hands-on involvement.

OP posts:
DandyAF · 06/03/2020 12:18

Ugh at my apostrophe abuse again.

OP posts:
yolofish · 06/03/2020 12:30

From DM just now: "In one of the snaps, Meghan and Harry can be seen gazing at each other and smiling as they tackle the wet weather conditions and cobbled streets arm-in-arm." That really made me laugh, they'd have been better off looking at the cobbles!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/03/2020 12:35

I wonder if he ever gets tired of the LA fakery

Like so many newcomers he's probably in the "isn't it wonderful" mindset ATM, and given the background there'll also be the motivation of "showing the bastards they were wrong and it's worked"

The cold hard reality's likely to come later, and how that'll turn out is anyone's guess - doubly so if at some point she decides his usefulness is spent

yolofish · 06/03/2020 12:37

His Silverstone gig looks fun today.

FazakAli · 06/03/2020 12:44

Will Harry be back for future Endeavour events?
