OVienna yes! I added it to my list, sorry I missed mentioning it.
Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong century, would have loved Tsarist Russia or Victorian England, being an aristo ofc Wink

GracefulHippo · 24/01/2020 18:54

Ooh, a pasty, didn’t think of that. Would I be arrested for drinking something alcoholic with it? Not sure what the rules are. This past two weeks have been awful and it would get me in weekend mood. Currently mainly tired and grumpy

katiegoestoaldi · 24/01/2020 18:54

I'd like to have been at court in the Tudor age, with all those amazing gowns and gallant knights

MrsJoshNavidi · 24/01/2020 18:54

I can confidently tell you that Britain is renowned for being completely devoid of a sense of humour - worldwide.

Get a life! Brits have a great sense of humour. It's just not the slapstick humour of a lot of the rest of the world.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 18:54

@sunset was there a time limit for me to answer? I am British, but now based in Ireland after traveling a lot. Collaborate to me means work together. I did look it up and the second definition is to cooperate with the enemy but that meaning never crossed my mind. I think the Queen, and the royal family as the institution is equal to me and anybody else, but not the enemy! So I suppose the first meaning seems fine to me, and I didn't think of the second!

katiegoestoaldi · 24/01/2020 18:56

I'm travelling by train in a couple of weeks and am getting a free upgrade to First Class. I'm ridiculously excited about having a glass of wine and a hot cooked meal Smile

SunsetBoulevard3 · 24/01/2020 18:56

This thread is full of humour. Some people just don’t get it though..

I am pro meghan and harry going to Canada, (once they dropped the bomb via Instagram to their Grandma!)

I just think they should let the whole Duke of SussexRoyale thing go.

Gracefulhippo you may indeed drink alcohol on the train. I know this as just a few months ago I was surrounded by bellowing football fans who were off their faces within twenty minutes of boarding, during a loooooong train journey up north.

Personally my humourless opinion is alcohol should be banned on trains as it is aeroplanes, as it is an enclosed space from which it is impossible to escape for aggressive and/or antisocial behaviour.

I’m not American and not really a fan of the RF but think M is great - just what the RF needed but unfortunately now not to be.

callmeadoctor · 24/01/2020 18:59

Ive been reading and enjoying these threads for days (whilst in the middle of an awful family tragedy), I can honestly say that the gossip and silliness (and cats`) have kept me going, just the distraction of it all. At the end of the day we are gossiping about the royals. Why anyone is having a go at anyone else is beyond me.....

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/01/2020 19:02

This thread is full of humour. Some people just don’t get it though.

Sunset you can definitely say that again.

peridito · 24/01/2020 19:02

People are trying to scroll by and ignore and not engage in arguments then being told they're mean girls for doing it

Here's tip Wendy - if you want to scroll and not read a post ,just do it .There's no need to talk about it .
Nobody has called anybody a mean girl because they've scrolled past a post . Try to hang on to reality .

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/01/2020 19:03

callmeadoctor
Absolutely

7Worfs · 24/01/2020 19:05

Gosh, lots of chips on shoulders about the English here... I am not British, so it's easy to spot... I'm afraid I had to report it, I don't appreciate the thread turning into Ireland VS England.

kirinm · 24/01/2020 19:05

Alcohol isn't banned on aeroplanes.

Encyclo · 24/01/2020 19:06

I think the issue is that people are scrolling by and saying, "I'm ignoring certain posters, I advise others to do the same" winkyface

Followed by "Oh me too, it's much more pleasant" winkyface winkyface

It's very juvenile and unnecessary.

Just ignore or engage, no need to narrate how you scroll through the thread.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 24/01/2020 19:07

Alcohol isn't banned on aeroplanes

Sorry you're right. I meant restricted. And you're not allowed to fly if drunk.

rockingchaircandle · 24/01/2020 19:07

Here we have a handful of very active posters, aggressively demanding replies and opinion justifications, tagging people every 2 minutes. It's tedious and there is no requirement to acknowledge unpleasant posters. It's for my mental health, you see.

This is still policing the threads! When it's from someone who disagrees with you it's aggressive. They're labelled unplanned. It's so cowardly, all this 'some posters' stuff. Who? What's been said? Chinese whispers. Even if these tactics worked at school, have you not out grown them now?

I don't want anything deleted. I want to give my opinion and disagree politely with people. But these harassment tactics are distorting the thread.

(The tagging thing is a function of the site. It's convenient, but talk to MN if you have a problem with it)

I don't think it matters what a celeb's motivation is for doing an overseas trip. They nearly always have a degree of self-interest but it doesn't matter because the charity will always benefit most. It raises the profile of the charity's work and gets their message out to people they wouldn't always reach. Plus charities will only work with celebs that share their values. You can't just rock up and say 'I want to do this.' There's lots of planning involved.

What's the point of the tagging thing? Never understood it Confused
