I agree Harry seems stuck in 'boy' mode. His brother seems very staid and much older by comparison.

peaceanddove · 20/01/2020 19:56

Diana was largely responsible for her own tragic death through a series of very poor and reckless decisions. I fully understand why PH cannot bear to acknowledge that.

strictlymomdancing · 20/01/2020 19:59

and now PH is also making reckless decisions that he may regret. Security is a biggie and cannot be provided by just any company.

you can see the stress on W&K faces tonight IMO

Lovely dress though. Nice dress on Sophie too.

peaceanddove · 20/01/2020 20:02

You're right strictlymomdancing the close protection provided by the Met is world class and so is very expensive. Dodi Al Fayed's bodyguards were like the Keystone Kops in comparison.

Imstinkyeddie · 20/01/2020 20:07

Pp have got it spot on I think.

Harry is a permanent 12 year old. He really hasn't grown emotionally nor mentally since that day his mother died.

Best education money can buy. Very poor results. He's just not that bright.

Stupid/risky behaviours as a teen/young adult which he got no punishment for. Dressing as a nazi? How very hilarious 🙄
Drug taking? Well, he's not shooting up in public loos...

His military career was misjudged. His very presence put his whole company in danger

I don't know if the RF got the boys any help after their mother died - I think from what I've read probably not? - but if not what were they thinking???

Sending them out shooting and making them go to church the morning she died where she was not even mentioned in prayers!!!?

They are an emotionally stunted, mentally very below average bunch.

It's all very sad and oddly fascinating.

Andylion · 20/01/2020 20:13

and Camilla's face says it all, and her pause before saying 'course'.

I missed the Camilla thing? What did she say?

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 20:17

Now they've gone - and all they seem to be worried about is how much more dosh they can get out of him

I have to agree with this.

No matter how much we analyse what Prince Harry has been through, the fact remains that he has taken vast sums of money from his father and his grandmother, and his wife does not seem to think that the money they already had when they married is anything like enough to ensure they (she) have the lifestyle they (she) desire(s).

I don't know about the rest of you, but DH and I could live very comfortably on one million quid, never mind thirty four million quid.

It's sickening.

Well if Edward is going to be more in the limelight, I truly hope he gets a style intervention from Sophie & she burns those awful double breasted suits of his.

@TracyBeakerSoYeah, I think Edward must have you on speed dial as he has taken your fashion advice tout pip ditching the double breast suit tonight at a royal engagement at BP. I like Sophie’s dress, I have been admiring a few of her outfits this last couple of years.

At least she didn't wink this time!

I assume this refers to an old interview? Any clues as to how I can google it? I found the "course" bit.

LaMarshallin garlic turbo charger..Yes! Grin

FlickingVees I agree strong possibility of PTSD. I really hope Harry gets genuine support and does some 'me' work as I think he was so caught up in seeing this through that he did not think through a contingency plan. There are too many ponderables.

And yes you're right: it would be very telling if Prince Harry had posted in Relationships. I would hope someone would have signposted him to a counsellor and a shit hot lawyer. I don't mean that in a necessarily 'get your ducks in a row' to divorce but as in How Are You Harry? What about what you yourself want? Not just for Meghan and Archie but you alone Harry. If you were in the situation of being left alone do you have an identity outside your marital family. Have you got a support network, somewhere neutral to go and a job? We would say that to anyone posting in Relationships wouldn't we. After all he is aiming to live independently from the RF and not be ruled by the media or the firm so why would you want to back yourself into a corner in your marriage. I say this because as Meghan just left him to it irrespective of what he had to face on his own.

I'm fine and thanks for asking. Mainly because I have just returned from Aldi, Sainsburys and Waitrose and scoffed Scottish salmon (@TheMustressMhor I thought of you at the Waitrose fish counter!) on a bed of sliced courgettes fried in unsalted butter with garlic and Kale followed by Aldi Brie de Meaux with a few strawberries.

None of it was wild but at least 40% was privately educated. The courgettes alone were Duchy. It may not be of interest to anyone or even mentioned in Dispatches but at least you asked. Not many people have.

TracyBeakerSoYeah Garry and Meghan. Grin Now don't start THAT rumour.

Found the wink. (In case anyone besides me wants to know.)

I have been wondering whether Meghan wrote the "Diana's son" reference into the speech that Harry delivered last night. It has been widely reported that M was perhaps a bit obsessed with Diana (photographs of her house with books about Diana on the shelves for example).

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 20/01/2020 20:24

I don't know why posters are commenting that Edward will have to be rolled out. He does loads of royal engagements anyway. Even before the announcement about H&M he had quite a few engagements listed for Jan & Feb. That made me wonder why they aren't reported on more widely.

VeryLittleOwl · 20/01/2020 20:24

Catching up on the thread for the first time today - going back to the Duchess of Kent (Wimbledon one) for a moment, if Meghan truly wanted to step back from the spotlight, she couldn't have had a better model than Katharine Kent, who rescinded her HRH and spent the best part of a decade teaching music in a state primary in Hull, mostly undetected. She came out of retirement a couple of years ago to teach music part-time to primary kids who lived in Grenfell Tower.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/01/2020 20:24

Sending them out shooting and making them go to church the morning she died where she was not even mentioned in prayers!!!?

Do you really think Diana should have been specifically mentioned in at a church service attended by her young sons the morning after her death, in front of the congregation?

HMQ and The DoE did the best they could to protect W&H. I think they showed great compassion and put their grandsons' needs first - more than the British public baying for the Queen's presence in London

colouringinpro · 20/01/2020 20:28

I think she/the family left behind should have been mentioned in prayers, yes.

KeepCookingWithGas · 20/01/2020 20:31

I was thinking about the Duchess of Kent today.

Imstinkyeddie · 20/01/2020 20:31

I think they might habe found comfort in knowing people were praying for her? And them?

Or maybe not.

The public baying for them to be seen was disgusting.

You can sort of see why they both seem to dislike the public.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 20/01/2020 20:32

I have been wondering whether Meghan wrote the "Diana's son" reference into the speech that Harry delivered last night.
It was reported on BBC Breakfast today that the speech was written by Harry himself.

AmIbeingTreasonable · 20/01/2020 20:33

What is the Camilla comment people are referring to? Could someone post a link please.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 20/01/2020 20:34

I find it hard to believe Harry would say 'gotten'.

JulieWaltersSnaggedMyJumper · 20/01/2020 20:34

Now that's my kind of Royal! I also liked Prince Philip's mother. I don;t care that she was an eccentric smoked cigars, played cards and rode the bus she actually helped and lived a comparatively modest life if somewhat unconventional.

Imstinkyeddie · 20/01/2020 20:36

I thought the portrayal of princess alice in s3 od the crown very moving
