Thanks to MrsHuggett for the thread title.

Twitter is extremely anti women. I can't see PM being booted for anti MM rants.

Many, many female gender critical accounts have been deleted for saying that men can't be women just because they self ID as one, for example.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 20/01/2020 11:31

I really cannot see Meghan being an apprentice to anyone.

Yes exactly. That's the problem. She isn't a team player.

cathyandclare · 20/01/2020 11:32

*Oh Lord.

Wasn't kinirnm that poster who claimed to be a lawyer who dealt with, er - litigation?*

I think your sniffiness about this shows more about your lack if knowledge of the law than hers.

Litigation is a specialist area in many law firms, especially big City Practices. Litigation, Commercial, Family, Property etc etc. The PP stating that she's a litigation lawyer suggests that she's a specialist, not a jack-of-all-trades IYSIM

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:32

I do not imagine people marching in the streets in these circumstances. It seems unlikely in the extreme.

Slow typing and I see I've cross posted with many others

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:34

Okay everyone - sorry. I seem to have misunderstood completely what a litigation lawyer is. My mistake, and I apologise.

believe you asked for examples of castigation for posters

Actually you said heavily castigated. I don't believe any of the examples you gave match that description. So we will have to agree to disagree on that. They're just fairly bland responses to repeated attacks.

Thanks for taking the time to scroll the entire thread to find them though. That must have kept you busy this morning and it's great that you have the free time to do so Smile

Wheresthebeach · 20/01/2020 11:40

@TheMustressMhor I fear they think that now they are free of royal constraints that they'll be able to control the press by only inviting the few, approved, journalists to view their good works.

Chocpear · 20/01/2020 11:45

@ChicChicChicChiclana, thank you for your comment. After I listened to Harry’s speech I did reevaluate a lot of what I had thought on the motivations for them leaving and about them as people. Your comment that they as a couple also realised quickly her personality would not fit with the ways of the Firm were interesting too.

PattiPrice · 20/01/2020 11:49

Please tell me no-one seriously believes this?

The anti Meghan brigade are batshit. They absolutely believe their own ‘power’. This thread should go to classics. It is very very funny when you give up trying to reason with them. It is as futile as reasoning with my six year old when she is overtired.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/01/2020 11:49

Many, many female gender critical accounts have been deleted for saying that men can't be women just because they self ID as one, for example

This is a very good point and the irony of course is that PM has been a staunch critic of this philosophy. One of the few people let alone men with a high profile to do so. I also admire the way he challenged someone on GMTV the other day who said the narrative around M is all racist.

But I do agree he has gone way over the top in his tweets and isn't doing himself any favours. I'm not quite sure what it is all about for him personally.

At face value it's because M didn't call him back and continue their association, yet of all the people who have claimed they were unfairly ghosted this is the one that I can understand and sympathise with. You'd hardly score points with your new boyfriend who is deeply suspicious of the media by announcing your network buddy is PM would you?

Of course she had to drop him from her diary. It was sensible. PM said as much himself in an interview, so I don't get him feeling so affronted.

katiegoestoaldi · 20/01/2020 11:50

One person said it Patti and no one agreed with them. Let's keep things in perspective shall we?

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 11:53

I suspect Piers Morgan is so outraged by Meghan and Harry’s behaviour because he edited one of the papers that was involved in hacking Harry’s phone and the court cases they are bringing against the tabloids could directly involve him. A minor conflict of interest which should probably be borne in mind whenever he starts banging on about them yet again.

PattiPrice · 20/01/2020 11:54

Let's keep things in perspective shall we?

That would change the tone of all these threads!!!

Back to the batshit posts please. I’m being kept very entertained while enjoying my latte.

Spectatorortheweek · 20/01/2020 11:54

I haven't read all 10 threads (!) but felt that Harry's speech last night about how sad he was about the situation and it wasn't his choice to step away from his royal responsibilities (including his military appointments) doesn't sit well for me with his very poor judgment in choosing not to attend a Royal Marines memorial event on July 14 (he is, or was, their Captain General) and instead attend the Lion King premiere to pitch for voiceover work for Meghan.

I have military connections and that particular choice, as well as the way he has behaved towards the Queen, will be hard for the thousands of military personnel who swear an oath of allegiance to the crown. He is now a poor example of loyalty to the crown and I don't see a way back for him at least for the military appointments - he has lost the respect of the armed forces forever.

Equanimitas · 20/01/2020 11:54

I must say, the notion that we are all going to be out on the streets protesting if Archie doesn't come back to the UK did give me a good Monday morning laugh.

notmoresheep · 20/01/2020 11:54

Bird that Compton thing! No less atrocious because its the sort of nasty bollocks we have come to expect from that bloody awful rag.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 11:56

Personally I started out pretty neutral on Meghan and Harry and the past couple of weeks have led me to conclude that I am not a fan of theirs and I think she particularly has behaved poorly. However that’s not to say I am in favour of some of the more hysterical commentary and reaction, such as Piers Morgan’s grandstanding. I think the best thing now for all concerned would be for H&M to take a low profile in Canada and we all turn our attention to how the remaining royal family go about redistributing roles and responsibilities and getting on with the job.
Time will tell whether my impression of Meghan is right, or whether I owe her an apology. We shall see soon enough.

SingingLily · 20/01/2020 11:58

PS, can I take over inspection of the Navy?

Can we jobshare, Yolo? I once got a guided tour of HMS Dido, a Leander class frigate (now sadly decommissioned) so I have relevant experience on my CV.

Here's a tip though. Wear trousers and flat heels.

There are a lot of strictly vertical ladders.

Froq · 20/01/2020 12:03

These are people with the audacity to talk about ‘years of challenges’ to an audience at an event about HIV/AIDS and ‘surviving not thriving’ in South Africa.

They’re not going anywhere.

They’ll be on Oprah talking about their difficult time, showing us how much they value their privacy on red carpet events and releasing documentaries on Netflix where they visit charities and talk only about themselves.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 12:04

Mail says Edward, Sophie and Anne are co-hosting tonight’s Buckingham Palace reception, alongside William - it is his first BP reception as host apparently. Mail says this is a sign of how the Royals will organise themselves in future.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/01/2020 12:07

Please tell me no-one seriously believes this?

No they don't, including I suspect the OP, who was engaging in a bit of hyperbole, but it clearly makes some people happy to imagine we do.

Different strokes for different folks.

The80sweregreat · 20/01/2020 12:10

He did behave badly by not going to the military service and went to hob nob with others at the film premiere.
Poor judgement but where were his advisers too? They have enough staff to help them , you think they would have said something about it looking really bad? Had a word in his ear?
Still , it's done now. They won't forgive or forget his actions. I suppose it did show how little thought he does give to things.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 20/01/2020 12:12

Piers Morgan needs to shut up. He’s ridiculous.

I feel sad for Harry & hope the 3 of them will be happy in their new life. I hope I’m wrong about Meghan. I’ve been wrong before so fingers crossed I’m wrong again. For his sake.

TestingTesla · 20/01/2020 12:15

who will take up the military duties?

Princess Anne?

She has held the rank of Admiral and Chief Commandant of Women in the Royal Navy according to wikipedia.
