…… with an occasional look at wild garlic.

Thanks to MrsHuggett for the thread title.

This is Thread Ten, unbelievably.

TwentyViginti I’d say tea and cake is essential for keeping one’s strength up after such things.

peridito I welcomed Kirinm back, her posts were goady rather than offering a counter argument to the discussion so I took the piss. She claimed to be a PQE so should be much more than capable of handling that and giving an intelligent response.

OVienna · 20/01/2020 11:01

@Laiste
It does indeed.

This is the heart of it for me and what I am baffled others can't see.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:04

@The80sweregreat

But is it right that he supported his wife, blindly, without giving the whole situation a good deal of thought?

If I was planning something as earth-shattering as this, I would hope that DH would have an opinion - and that if his opinion differed wildly from mine, that we would have some very long, meaningful discussions, and take plenty of advice, before doing whatever it was.

I do not see how PH can come back after this. Not until the (I think inevitable) divorce - and then he will not want to show disrespect to his DC's mother, so will not really be able to comment as he would wish.

Piers Morgan is really obsessed by all this.
He feels slighted because she ghosted him and at first it was a bit of bantz but now his gone too far. Especially on Twitter.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:05

Oh Lord.

Wasn't kinirnm that poster who claimed to be a lawyer who dealt with, er - litigation?

Laiste Grin

Even my ex (no emotion, logical to the 1000th degree) paused while passing by yesterday (I had the radio on LBC) to declare.

'He's giving up a lot. Doesn't make sense'

This was astounding, I tell you. Clearly the topic had permeated his psyche.

SerenDippitty · 20/01/2020 11:05

There are sporting patronages as well. Prince Harry is patron of the English rugby union. William is already vice-patron (HMQ being patron) of the WRU so he can’t take that over - perhaps Zara will have to do it.

Poor Harry, I hope he will be ok. BTW Prince Edward did briefly join the Royal Marines. He just wasn’t cut out for it as indeed most people aren’t.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 11:08

Do Zara and Peter do public engagements? I thought they didn’t - out of all of the Queen’s grandchildren, they are the ones with properly private lives and careers ...

The Mail is reporting that Harry is off to Canada tonight, after greeting African leaders at some political summit today. Won’t be attending William’s Buckingham Palace reception tonight.

yolofish · 20/01/2020 11:08

I'm not sure its entirely healthy for one person to give up everything for another person. He seems so sad, when you would think if he is doing what they both want, he would be happier even if there were tinges of regret.

(I'm actually thriving BTW as dentist didnt need to do anything! Thanks for asking)

PS, can I take over inspection of the Navy?

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:09

I haven't looked at the Piers Morgan stuff on Twitter because I do not understand how it works

You would think there was some way to police it, though.

I am quite cross to think that these threads are being vilified by some MNetters, without there being intelligent scrutiny.

We are not anti-Meghan so much as anti-anyone who is disrespectful to the Crown and HM Queen.

There is a difference.

If they had had a longer acquaintance before getting engaged they could have set this up from the beginning. Small low key wedding, clarity about their roles, getting to know each other's family. Meghan doing some less glamorous outings as an apprentice to Anne and Sophie. It is the rush and over the topness of everything that makes it seem ridiculous that they couldn't last beyond 18 months.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:12

No. They chucked me out because I didn't like getting wet.

So I became a midwife instead.

I hope that Harry did have lots of conversations with his wife about this ; maybe that was all going on over Christmas.
She 's run away it's true , but maybe she just couldn't face them anymore.
Ive critiqued both of them on here ( fairly I think) but today I can see why his chosen this option. I still think she is doing this for more money and fame but who knows?
Either that or split up I suppose.
At least his going to give it a go! It doesn't make much difference to me what they do but I do feel sorry for him.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:13

I really cannot see Meghan being an apprentice to anyone.

notmoresheep point taken ,an incorrect inclusion by me of posts having a go at ppl not sharing the same views .

In other discussions - Harry's reference to his mother in his speech last night
Finally, the second son of Diana got hitched, hurray!
seemed a bit odd to me with it's focus on Diana . I suppose the press attention on his mother is never far from his mind Sad

The80sweregreat · 20/01/2020 11:16

Edward left the Marines in the 90s I think and he also had terrible press over that.
He wasn't cut out for it at all.
Those two are very quiet and you don't see much press about them. They seem to have it sussed somehow!

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 11:18

This is what it comes down to - who will take up the military duties ?! I really find it hard to see how anyone other than William is in a position to do so - unless they rehabilitate Andrew, which would trigger a firestorm of criticism. They’re in a tricky position. I don’t think Harry is going to be easy to replace; clearly a lot of long term planning for decades has assumed his presence and they just don’t have an easy plan B without him.

Wheresthebeach · 20/01/2020 11:19

Gah - missed all the fun over the weekend as we had guests so couldn't spend my time on MN!

Lovin Beyonce's face during the 'pitch' ... I think they are in for more bad press now that they are no longer part of royal life. MM will be an easy target.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/01/2020 11:24

I'm going to defend Kirinm as she regularly contributes an alternative opinion and is challenging but hasn't, as far as I can remember, been 'shut up and stop talking you miserable bitches'

Unless I'm getting her mixed up with another poster?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/01/2020 11:27

I think Edward will have to step up a bit and leave Bagshot Park more often.

Notonthestairs · 20/01/2020 11:28

I'm not sure what the big deal is about someone describing themselves as a litigation lawyer. It's a discrete department in most firms like conveyancing, probate and corporate.

I was a commercial lawyer for 15 years and never touched litigation work post qualification.

SerenDippitty · 20/01/2020 11:29

I agree, “shadowing” a senior royal for a while would have been a great idea.

Equanimitas · 20/01/2020 11:29

I think if they separated and she tried to keep Archie from Britain and Harry, I could actually see people in Britain marching the streets!!

Please tell me no-one seriously believes this?

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 11:29

Wheresthebeach

MM will be an easy target

I agree, and I wonder why it didn't occur to her or PH that this would make her an even easier target.

Yeah I have to say, albeit belatedly, that the mocking of kirinm saying they were a “litigation lawyer” was cringey. There’s litigation and non-litigation within law and litigation is very much a specialism and litigation lawyer very much a recognised term. A quick google search is a good idea when it comes to checking whether a term is legit (pun fully intended).
