…… with an occasional look at wild garlic.

Thanks to MrsHuggett for the thread title.

This is Thread Ten, unbelievably.

Serena's husband dropped a clue with the word thrive at the end of his post.

He also hasn't replied correcting any of the posters speculating it was about M, which you would ordinarily if it was a friend.

Planeplane · 20/01/2020 10:38

Serena's husband dropped a clue with the word thrive at the end of his post.

Ooh, hadn't quite clocked that.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 10:38

Well this is the root of my questions, MistressM. I would guess that one reason why it takes a while to sort Harry’s move out is because other members of the family are being asked whether they might be able to reconsider their lives and make quite a big decision in a short space of time with very little notice.

I wonder if this is the death knell for Charles’s long-standing strategy of reducing the family who do public duties down to just his direct line? He has spent years and years trying to make sure that Andrew’s family in partic don’t get an official public status. But now presumably he is going to need them ...

Reike · 20/01/2020 10:40

Can I just say well done on keeping these threads running? I've read all of them so far and am now way to invested to keep out of it Grin

I'm German and in Germany. I was just listening to my local radio station and they had people call in to comment about the drama that is Megxit. EVERY ONE of the callers were in favor of Harry & Meghan.

They said they were happy for them and that they managed to escape the gilded cage. That the Queen's style of monarchy belongs in the past century and has no place in today's world.

They think it's great Harry is taking his wife's side and practically told the queen where to stick it.

Oh and of course that the English should take a good look at themselves for they way they treated this "poor young woman" and that it's their own fault the two left.

My country has no idea. No idea at all.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 10:41

... and, if that is the case, whether the writing is on the wall for Bea’s engagement. Eug’s husband Jack seems fairly alright, maybe not partic grand for a frontline royal but a bit like Princess Anne’s husbands - sensible and willing to take a back seat. Am not at all sure that Edo is cut from the same cloth. Perhaps a long engagement beckons for Bea ...

I really do t think Eugenie or Beatrice have any interest in giving up their working lives to become work g Royals. No way.
Though their jobs don’t seem to resemble anyone else’s jobs. They seem to work on a very part time basis.

DandyAndFine · 20/01/2020 10:46

Grin

So true.

strictlymomdancing · 20/01/2020 10:47

I thought Bea and Eugenie worked part time?

They do get criticised for taking lots of holidays though so do they even work or is it just a title (of a different sort Grin )

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 10:48

Well Eug already does public appearances for the charities she supports as a private individual - the charity which supports people with the same spine condition she had, for starters. I think she made an appearance at the hospital where she was treated last year?
Not sure if Bea has similar private charity patronage’s.

TwentyViginti · 20/01/2020 10:49

These threads are being vilified on the Piers Morgan thread.

PM is obsessed with slating MM. It's disturbing.

GoFiguire · 20/01/2020 10:51

Will no one think of the garlic? Having been told they’re boring, will anyone ask if they’re OK?

bohemia14 · 20/01/2020 10:51

Harry, and others, may choose to believe that the press were responsible for his mother's death and relentlessly pursued her. To some extent they did, but I was in my 30s when she died, and I remember her behaviour in the weeks before her death. She was actively courting and teasing the media. She was very good at manipulating the press and I believe Meghan has the capacity to do the same. She's not doing so at the moment as it fits her narrative to be the victim of the press. I think that's possibly very damaging to Harry's emotional well being if it's the case.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 20/01/2020 10:53

Eugenie has done some very good work highlighting smaller, non-exciting, low profile charities and her instagram account is different in tone entirely to that of the Sussexes. I believe she has drawn attention to a small mental health crisis walk in centre set up by a mother whose son was released from A&E and then killed himself despite saying he was suicidal, something I didn't hear about on the news and I found it interesting that she focused on the less glamorous side of the issue.

She also works with the Scoliosis charity I think. She always comes across as genuine to me. A bit pampered maybe, but then they all are, hard not to be when you grow up with everyone telling you you're special.

I think she would be a great asset to the RF if she was allowed to take on extra patronages and become a full time working royal. But yes I agree it would scupper PC's plans to slim down the RF.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 10:53

It must be quite difficult to be a well-known member of the RF and hold down a job, whilst simultaneously juggling a bit of ribbon-cutting in Auchterarder.

DH knows i read all the MN threads about it all. Frogmore, the affair, the press, Kate's tears, the voice-over stuff, the tiara, Africa, the bump, the coture, the whole lot. He has pretty much zero interest.

While we watched Harry at 6.30 ish this morning on BBC Breakfast DH turned to me and asked:

'' ...... so ....... what's his problem exactly?''.

I knew i had about 5 seconds before his attention waned forever - but it turned out it's all i needed:

Me - ''Erm - well - they are fed up with the British press''
DH - ''So they've buggered off to America?''
Me - ''Yes''
DH - ''So what's he whinging about here?''
Me - ''Erm - he's sad it came to this''
DH -

Kind of sums it up doesn't it Grin

BirdandSparrow · 20/01/2020 10:54

Sheep this links to the compton story and another discussing her "exotic DNA" www.nytimes.com/2020/01/09/opinion/sunday/meghan-markle-prince-harry.html

I'm not a MM fan particularly and I'm absolutely not a royalist, I think we should abolish the monarchy entirely. But, it does annoy me people acting like they know what's going on. We don't. We don't know what they are like really or what their marriage is like. Maybe it's a sham and she's a nutter. Maybe he's driving this and she's supporting him. Maybe it's somewhere in between.

strictlymomdancing · 20/01/2020 10:54

That telegraph article is brilliant!

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 10:56

These threads are being vilified on the Piers Morgan thread

I am not surprised. Many people are just assuming that we who have either started these threads, or who regularly contribute, are necessarily entirely against MM.

It was only in October, in fact, that I myself started a thread about her case against the MoS. I was very much on her side for the entire thread, which lasted 1,000 posts.

I cannot believe that I defended her so robustly then. And it was less than three months ago.

The scales have fallen from my eyes.

ElloBrian · 20/01/2020 10:57

I agree Catherine, it can’t have been easy growing up with those parents but she seems to be a sensible and graceful young lady.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 20/01/2020 10:57

Eugenie actually seems a very decent person with genuine motives. I just don’t know why anyone would want to give up a relatively independent life to become a ‘working’ Royal.

The80sweregreat · 20/01/2020 10:57

I felt sorry for Harry today : he is between a rock and a hard place and although its right he chose his wife he still feels conflicted about the rest of it.
I hope it works out ,but the generally consensus is it won't ( on here anyway)
Have to see I guess. He probably feels a bit rudderless.
It's sad his had to do all this on his own as well. No support from his wife at all ( or not publicly anyway!)
Difficult situations.

strictlymomdancing · 20/01/2020 10:58

Piers Morgan goes on about them too much, and yes it DOES appear obsessed

Doesn't mean he's wrong though.

TheMustressMhor · 20/01/2020 10:59

Laiste I laughed at your post. I can well imagine the scene in your house this morning.

But beware.

Humour is frowned upon on this thread.
