Does anyone want a thread for people who are happy for Harry and Meghan?

Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

The level of antagonism shown toward them, particularly Meghan, is all out of proportion to what has actually happened. I hope that they can shut out all of the hateful commentary and find a way forward to happiness.

As for damage to the Royal Family and the monarchy, I think that in the great scheme of things this is a very minor matter. Those institutions have survived far worse.

It is completely out of proportion. Given that so much is conjecture or open to interpretation.

HMQs own statement agreed that Harry and Meghan were subjected to an unprecedented scrutiny and supported their wish to live a more independent life.

They asked to step back, they've been booted out. The Queen has retained lawyers and they can no longer use HIRH or call themselves Royal.

Who are they supposed to be harming? I don’t get that.

As for respect, there are plenty of the opinion that the RF don’t deserve much respect in general and in particular after the carry on with PA.

I’m sure H&Ms life has been immeasurably better away from the toxic British press and long may that continue.

I'm starting to see what the problem is.

The banana writing is still much derided but, naff as it might've been, it resulted in the charity in question receiving more donations than ever before. But people forget that in their rush to condemn Meghan for doing it.

Another thing is that writing on fruit is sort of an American thing. Moms and dads might write little notes of encouragement on bananas that they put in their children's packed lunches.

She never got credit for the work she did.

Her support of, and work with women's charities was really impressive IMO, but no, she was dismissed as woke and fake.

Who needs men to tear down a woman when we can do so such a comprehensive job of it ourselves.

Well exactly. And the CEO of the charity was very complimentary about it.

Like almost everything else, I fail to see what was so wrong about it. It may not have been what you would have done in the circs, or a little cheesy, but still a fundamentally nice gesture, that had very positive outcomes.

I find it bizarre that their ‘wrong-doing’ is on the one hand so supposedly dreadful and on the other so intangible.
