Just seeing if there’s any interest. I think they have their faults but I think this may turn out to be a good thing long term. Anyone want to join in?

There were so many opportunities to present a united front from the time of their marriage up until they left for Canada. Other experienced family members such as Charles and William could've helped present a picture of unity and support at times when H&M were clearly floundering.

I never saw any of that.

Roussette · 18/02/2020 14:54

And another royal marriage flounders. Although we don't see a lot of them ... but David Linley and his wife Serena are splitting up. (DL is Princess Margaret's son). 26 years of marriage and a great shame. He is my sort of era and is the spit of his father Anthony Armstrong Jones.

I agree with you Encyclo, it takes little to show support to the great british public. I am sure Queenie deliberately went to Church with PA when the Epstein interview broke. It's just a shame we didn't see the public support like that for H&M. I don't doubt there was support in private but good old Joe Public doesn't get to hear about that do they?

Agree Encyclo...never did see an example of support from W and C when it was obvious that H and M were struggling!! Possibly the acrimony between the couples was so awful that they couldn’t even put on a show!!

Roussette · 18/02/2020 15:08

I thought that was a joke too!

meercat23 · 18/02/2020 15:22

Possibly the acrimony between the couples was so awful that they couldn’t even put on a show!! Without knowing what has gone on between them all there is no way of knowing whether support would/could be offered or whether it would/could be welcomed. It looks like quite a deep rift though.

Happens to us all Samcro...

drina27 · 19/02/2020 11:27

Indeed.

Roussette · 19/02/2020 13:32

Golly me. There's a lot of deletions going on. I wish the same rules had applied to the 19 H&M threads. Anything particularly vile was reported by me and others, but lots flew under the radar. This seems unfair.

peridito · 19/02/2020 14:06

I think MN are trying avoid the situation where one group of posters antagonises another hence my post aimed at a poster and pointing them in the direction of another thread was deleted .And maybe then Samcro's second post with the mention of bullies .

I think that's a correct reading of the situation .It's one I welcome . Though I agree that I wish it had been applied before .
But maybe MN don't have the manpower as it were .

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2020 14:42

I think you're probably right, peridito (now there's a thing you don't often hear me saying 🙂).

I wouldn't have noticed a thread 18 if it hadn't been mentioned here.

I actually think it's a real shame that this thread hasn't been used for the purpose for which it was started; ie for people who are genuinely glad for H&M and hope they're happier now they've made the break from the RF.

Instead, it just seems to be used like bird-watchers use an observation position: to train binoculars elsewhere and report back.

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2020 14:51

PS
peridito, I also wanted to apologise: right up until today I've called you "perdito" and missed out the extra "i".
I don't know if you noticed, but - if you did - it must have been irritating.
It wasn't done on purpose, honestly, and I'll try to make sure I get it right next time 🙂

Roussette · 19/02/2020 15:30

I don't feel that's really fair LaMarschallin. If you look back over the thread there is a lot of happiness for H&M Smile

Gosh I always thought Peridito was Perdito and I'm sure I've typed that too! It's amazing what the brain chooses to see!

I'm always Rousette and never ever Roussette so I think we all do it!

peridito · 19/02/2020 15:32

Heavens I couldn't care about an extra i ,it was in anycase a mistake made by me ,I meant my user name to be perdito.

I think you're exaggerating the bird watcher thing though ,the majority of posts are about being pleased for H&M . I guess discussing posts that aren't pleased for them comes into that a bit .

Samcro · 19/02/2020 15:36

lets see if I can post and it stays. I am still glad H&M got out. I think the sad event this weekend show how vulnerable people can be. MM has been attacked so much, I say well done Harry for getting her out.
I am a bit sad that people are still attacking them even now.
I do wonder what they can do to stop it, but doubt if the haters will ever stop it. maybe if someone like P Morgan stopped, that would be a start.
I do wonder how the next wedding will go. will PA give the bride away?

Roussette · 19/02/2020 15:40

Agree Samcro. I think it is ground breaking what they have done. The RF need a shake up and this is it. Since they left there are two pending divorces in the RF (the Snowdens and Peter Phillips). Maybe just maybe those two couples thought... right we can grab some normality and do what we've been wanting to do and sub consciously H&M enabled this to happen.

I actually admore H&M for going with their gut and getting out. I really want it to work out for them.

Encyclo · 19/02/2020 15:47

Did anyone see Dave the rapper on the Brits? He was talking about racism and called out the way Kate gets treated in comparison to Meghan.

DaveCoaches · 19/02/2020 15:56

So do I Roussette. The rest of society has changed so much over the last 100 years, why shouldn’t the monarchy?

Re the Phillips divorce, I thought they had been separated since the autumn but I might have misread.

OP posts:
Roussette · 19/02/2020 16:37

Encyclo I thought he was brilliant. And he mentioned the two wonderful young people who were knifed to death recently who had been working so hard at prisoner rehab.

Davecoaches I thought that was a play on words there with Autumn! Everything changes, I agree, even the Church has changed (not that I go but I gather so), why shouldn't the monarchy indeed. Today should have been the day that the bells did not ring out for PA, that would've been a start, given his history.

DaveCoaches · 19/02/2020 16:45

No a genuine slip about Autumn/autumn! Grin

Agree completely re Andrew.

PortiaCastis · 19/02/2020 18:27

Dave the rapper was terrific because he has the balls to say in public and on tv what an awful lot of people have been thinking, the media certainly do have a lot to answer for as does the odious Morgan, the way they've picked on one woman is disgusting and low they'll do or invent anything to get their pound of flesh and then feed off her bones
Classy

TheMustressMhor · 20/02/2020 13:34

@Samcro

You say I am a bit sad at people attacking them even now but are you really surprised?

Meghan and Harry definitely insulted the Queen when they said they would "collaborate" with her.

That isn't on, IMHO.

Roussette · 20/02/2020 13:51

The 'collaborate' comment was in the statement they put out over six weeks ago and it is just a word! Personally, I didn't find anything wrong with it but I suppose if you are H&M people will look for anything to pick on.
How weird to bring up that statement from all that time ago. I hope it means there isn't anything else to criticise them about at the moment.

LaurieMarlow · 20/02/2020 13:58

I don’t see anything insulting about that word either, but then I’m not trying to find fault in everything they do, which does put a different spin on things I find.
